Thyme Ratings and Reviews
Returned here for first time in a while. Environment is pleasant, service professional, food very good, live music mediocre and way too loud, glasses offered by the wine did not include sufficient number of better wines.
Biggest gripe was their focus on closing time - a particular annoyance on a Friday night when the weekend's just beginning and you want to relax. We made a 9 pm reservation. I called five minutes before to say we were running 10-15 minutes late. I was told that last reservation was 9:45 and kitchen closes at ten. I said not a problem we'd be there soon. At ten we were told we had to order dessert right away because kitchen was closing. At 10:30 when we had just finished eating and hadn't received check yet the staff was clearly shutting down around us and we began to feel uncomfortable sitting at the table. We eat late often, especially on a Friday, and have not had this experience elsewhere. If the most important consideration is to close by 11, then they shouldn't be taking reservations til 9:45.
My Grandma and I found exactly what we were looking for when coming to Thyme earlier this week for dinner. Everything about the night was superb. The staff was outstanding and extremely attentive to the two of us on a busy night. We really loved our time here and the pre-fixe menu! Well worth it. We got Mussels and Butternut Squash Ravioli as our first course which were both DELISH! Then, we both chose the Short Rib Papparadelle as our Main. OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Dessert, we did Creme Caramel & Chocolate Torte w/ Vanilla Ice Cream and again were both very satasifed! We will be returning very soon for sure.
Hadn't been here for a while, was happy to see that the food was still delicious! We both had the tasty butternut squash soup, then she Had a turkey burger platter while I had a salad. We each thought they were delicious. The piece de resistance was the tray of freshly baked cookies which we shared for dessert! About 5 or 6 different type cookies were served warm, straight from the oven, and they were scrumptious! We had a lovely time and a great conversation since we hadn't seen each other in a while. so happy her birthday celebration was perfect!
Quaint little venue in Roslyn Village. Food was good, but the service was just ok. The bartender seemed extremely distracted and was not personable at all. Had to ask twice for another drink and it wasn't a packed bar. Overall we had an enjoyable experience. Not sure that we'd return, though.
Thyme has been a favorite for many years. The special Restaurant Week menu was a great reason to go back. As usual, it did not disappoint. Uniformly great food. We started with the butternut squash soup and the kale and brussels sprouts salad, followed by the scallops and shrimp and papardalle entrees. Finished with the apple tart dessert. All great choices. Our server, Lucas, was superb. A great experience and we will be back.
Excellent food and service. Very attentive wait staff. Mussels were cooked to perfection. Parpadella Bolognese made with short ribs was outstanding. Would have liked a bit more pasta. The apple tart was the perfect finish to a great dining experience. Highly recommend.
This was my first time at Thyme but wont be the last. Easy reservation made
On Open Table- they called to confirm. Our party was 6 and we fot a round table which is my favorite! We had great service and food was great! It happened to be restaurant week so we picked the menu and all was delicious. Cozy and not loud so conversation flowed.
Some dishes were excellent like warm brussel sprout and kale salad. Shrimp was a little overcooked in two seafood entrees we tried. Mussels were tiny. Service was inconsistent. For example, they never asked if we wanted more wine or cocktails. I had to ask for that and was almost done with dinner by the time it came. Thyme presents itself as a very high end restaurant but it often misses the mark in consistent execution.
This is our 5th time here and each time we have enjoyed the food and the fact that even though they are busy and people are talking you can still have a pleasant conversation with the people at your table. T he panels on the ceiling adsorb the sound ,this was a great idea.
We have had the same waiter each time we have been here and sometimes he is excellent and sometimes just ok, he was pleasant but not too attentive. My husband had to ask for pepper which should have been offer when he got his salad. Even so that wont stop us form coming back as the food is worth it.
The butternut squish soup was wonderful and so was the mushroom salad. They make the best bread pudding I have ever had
Our group of six women visit Thyme for weekday lunches. It is a popular place which means that the noise level is uncomfortably loud with larger groups. We would suggest that they seat large groups in the dining room upstairs unless someone has a mobility issue. (The dining room upstairs isn't used at all for lunch.)
This was our 4th visit to Thyme and each time is better than the last. I had the halibut which was moist and delicious. My fellow guests had the lamb chops and pork chop. Both raved about their dishes. They even gladly substituted the accompanying sides, as my mother did not care for the sides which came with the lamb chops. Salads and ravioli appetizers were scrumptious too! Thyme is our new favorite restaurant!
Small, intimate space, overlooking a small lake. Outdoor seating is available but it was raining on the day of our visit.
Sunday brunch is prix fixe at $22 which includes entree and choice of Bloody Mary, Bellini or Mimosa or Orange or Grapefruit juice. Price did not include coffee/tea or dessert and they offered some other drinks for an up-charge.
My son said the apple, endive and chicken salad was OK, but he wanted more of the candied walnuts and less endive. My husband enjoyed the Cobb salad. My wild mushroom and goat cheese omelet was tasty. Our fourth entree was french toast. It looked very good but the center of the slices were soggy (either soaked too long or not cooked through long enough).
We had several flavors of their gelato and sorbet to finish. The Chocolate was deep, dark and decadent. The Cinnamon was unusual and very tasty. Vanilla gelato and lemon sorbet were as one would expect. Clean, strong flavors.
