Thyme Bar and Grill
We decided to try your prime rib Sunday, thinking that it would fresh made for Sunday only. The meal
was terrible. The potatoe was half cook and seem old and just about warm. The meal was very dry and
little favor because made the day before. Big pieces of fat came along with the meat discussing.
The cream spinach would have been very good if it was hot. The bread was the only thing hot.
We eat out a lot and was hoping we would have been please and another place to go with our friends.
The waiter Frank did his best to try and please us.Bonefish here we come.
The two of us shared three starters and we each had a salad as well. Very good in every way.
I made a reservation for 9 pm as available time on Open table. It was our first time going to this restaurant. However when we got there at 8:55 pm, the doors were closed. We looked inside and the light was still on, but the place was empty.
New chef and menu have improved this place in food quality and selection. Will go back.
Food was great, but there was a major backlog in the kitchen. Our waiter tried his best to keep us updated on the progress. We were not in a hurry, but many around us were very upset about the service. It made for a very uncomfortable situation.
It is unfortunate b/c the food was excellent and the ambiance was nice.
Food was amazing! Service was friendly and very attentive! Plus they have great music.
First time st this restaurant but we will definitely be back!
Food was really well made. Server struggled with the menu, didn’t really know the specials. The food made up for it.
Third time here. I like the menu. Scallops were just ok. Short rib Special was outstanding. Service very good.
Friday night big bar scene. Great for them. Makes dining on Friday night a little difficult. Once the band started, we could hardly talk.
Can you believe that at 6:30 on Friday they were out the crab cake sandwich and the crab dinner? Noise level in the bar area was excessive and made it difficult to carry on a conversation. Our server tried hard but it was spotty. Our mussels appetizer was weak with a very ordinary red sauce. The website menu had a veggie burger on it it was no where to be found when we were there. I must say my salad was great. I will think twice about going back.
Started with a nightly special, Cob Salad, a bunch of wilted greens and a shortage of other ingredients. Waited an hour for our main course, wife had crab cakes, ok but potatoes were burnt, should not have been on the plate. I had scallops, ok. Because of the wait we were given a $10 coupon for next visit (gave it to another table) and 1, not 2, free deserts that we took home. Parking is almost impossible.
We felt so sorry for our waiter. His service was fine. However, the food took 90 minutes to come out. Chicken was not only cold, but dried out. They really need to work on hiring enough cooks.
We decided that we wanted to try sitting in the bar area so tha we could order burgers from the bar menu. There was a group sitting at the bar and they were VERY LOUD and we weren’t able to have a conversation. Our waitress offered to move us to the dinning room upstairs and we were still able to receive our food upstairs. She was still running up and downstairs to make sure we were ok. The food is good and everyone is so warm and friendly. We will be sure to make this a regular spot to visit.
Food was delicious. Long wait to get food. The portion on one of the meals was very small. Liked like it would make a good appetizer.
My friend and I came here to celebrate her birthday. We found Thyme by accident! What a pleasant surprise! Food was delicious! Service was great! Love the Piana bar and next time we will check out the bar downstairs! What a little gem in Newtown! Will be back!
We liked the waitress, but we had a reservation at 6:45 and did not get our meal served until 8pm. I asked the waitress at 7:45 what was going on and she checked and came back to apologize and said they were very busy. We saw many open tables so that just didn't make sense. My scallops were excellent. The jambalaya was not very good and my son barely ate any of it. I told them he didn't like it, but they did not attempt to do anything about it. That, coupled with the extremely long wait made our experience not so great. Won't go back.
Foid was excellent would definitely recommend it. Hope to be back soon ..
My wife and I dine out quite a bit. Every now and then we have an underwhelming meal, but I generally don't feel the need to leave a negative review. But for this meal, I felt I need to.
The prices at Thyme are far above average for the region - $32 for the average entree here.
For appetizer, I ordered "mushroom and brie bisque". I received a bowl of pureed mushrooms with a tiny slice of brie plopped on top. This was not a bisque by any means at all.
For entree, I ordered "beef burgundy in bread bowl". I received beef in a light brown broth as thin as chicken soup, with a roll placed in the middle of the broth. Nothing was inside the bread, like a bread bowl. There was no trace of wine at all, the beef was not stewed, and the sauce was not thick as it should be. This was absolutely NOT beef burgundy by any means imaginable. The worst part is that the only taste from this dish was the soggy bread.
My wife ordered scallops with crawfish risotto. This dish WAS what it claimed to be, but was terribly underwhelming in flavor. The scallops were fishy and overcooked. The risotto was lumpy and dry and also fishy.
The ambiance was ok, but the place was VERY brightly lit.
Overall, I definitely do not recommend Thyme. There are very many gems in Bucks County, this is not one of them.
Second visit and unfortunately the Food was just average. They didn’t deliver the right burger nor at the right temperature. The mussels were not as good as last time. Nice place but food is average at best
The Bartender was great.
The food was good, though they were out of two of the specials and it was only 7:00pm. The service was slow — it was well over 10 minutes after being seated that anyone came by to take our drink order. It was equally slow when we were finished and needed our check. Then, our check was wrong — there were several drink orders on it that weren’t ours and that took even more time to get it squared away. The space in the dining area upstairs is very tight. We might go back but sit at the bar or at one of the high tops but not in the more formal dining area.
Food was very good as well as the service.
We were 4 and upstairs... the only thing we did not like was the noise coming from the next room( piano and music too loud and mid meal we had hard to listen to each other’s...not great ....reason why I gave only 4 starts
Thyme is lovely place to dine! I've enjoyed a lunch and two dinners during the past few months and I plan to return often. Great for special occasions or just a quiet and romantic dinner. Menu selections are plentiful, food is very tasty, and service is impeccable. Ambiance is quaint and very pleasant! Be sure to make a reservation because Thyme is very popular and considered a local gem.
We went for an early Valentine dinner. Pork chops were amazing. Kristine, our waitress, was attentive and pleasant. Would definitely go back
I booked "regular seating" on Open Table which meant we would be sat upstairs in the dining room. Upon arrival, I was informed that there is a "glitch" with Open Table and they had no seats in the dining room and we had to sit in the bar. That was not so much a problem but the bartender, tending to a full bar, was also our waiter. Our salad took easily 30 minutes to get to the table, our Chicken Satay was cold and the shrimp fra diavolo was good. If the restaurant knows about a "glitch" something needs to be done.
First time: could have been better, slow service. No bread. Soup came after salad, filet not hot, asparagus dry room temp. All they need is better management and timing and I would raise my points! Although on the new side. Really like to try it again in a little bit and see if they can improve.
During previous visits here, we were seated in the quieter 2nd floor area. This visit we ended up on 1st floor bar area with TVs on. Cold room on a very cold night. Food is top notch and has surprised us both. Pork chop cooked to perfection as were the garlic and herbed mashed potatoes. Beef bourguinon in bread bowl was very tasty and well seasoned, but beef chunks were a bit tough. Good service and nice venue in 18th century building in center of Newtown. Give this place a visit!
I really liked the atmosphere in the bar (we sat at one of the high tables with surrounding stone walls) and I was surprised at the menu options, which included scallops, crab cakes and grilled sea bass. The scallops were cooked perfectly and my wife enjoyed the crab cakes as well. We also shared a well prepared Greek salad that was too large for one person to finish. Cozy atmosphere in the bar and attentive service. Decent wine choices and a nice variety of beers on tap as well as bottles. We will definitely return as we liked the friendly atmosphere and food at reasonable prices.
Good service. Nice menu. Nice atmosphere. Looking forward to going again
We felt that for the quality of the sauces, it was over-priced.
Unsure if I would recommend.
The service started out a little slow but then picked it up. The food was fantastic, but expect to pay Newtown prices
Food and service were very good. However we were seated at a high top in the bar area and that wasn’t so good. First, the chairs at these tables are backless stools. These are very uncomfortable. Second, there is no place to put your coat, and a chair without a back makes it even more difficult. Third, the cold air comes right in and hits these tables. A door or heavy curtain would help. Hopefully the restaurant will take note of these easily corrected issues.
Our server, Jack, was awesome. The food was really delicious and larger than expected portions. We did sit in a cramped table with a view of the office door so I would request a better table next time. Overall, a nice dinner,.. we will be back.
We go to this restaurant on a regular basis. The staff are attentive and the food is great. We love the atmosphere and the setting is perfect.
Food quality was average and pricey. Great ambiance and service.
Entres sounded interesting on the menu and certainly were not bad, but were not different or exciting. Nothing really stood out. Seemed more like a comfort food restaurant as opposed to a stand-out. There are a lot of stand-outs in the area, so I think Thyme has work to do. The location is great, so we would return if we hear that things improve.
Surprised that, for a new restaurant, someone at a senior level wasn't walking around to tables greeting and talking to guests. Personal touch is important.
We wish Thyme the best.
Food and drink quality is worthy of another visit. Portions were uneven. Two diners ordered same meals and one received an abundance while the other seemed to receive half of a serving.
Our server Jax was excellent.
The food was nicely prepared, the Jambalaya and salmon entrees were both delicious.
Reasonably priced wines added to the pleasant experience.
We’ll be back.
I went with two friends- we split appetizers then each had our own entrees and desserts. The only “okay” items we had were the cheesy crab bread and a peanut butter and chocolate dessert. The food was really terrible. Chewy chicken, they forgot the shrimp for the “bourbon chicken and shrimp” dinner, cold veggies, dry desserts. Will not return.
Food was great!!!! Atmosphere very nice!!!!
