Thunder Road Café is based in Dublin's Temple Bar. The themed restaurant has been serving American diner food for over 25 years. The restaurant bar offers a selection of live music on Friday nights, and an extensive drinks menu to match their colourful theme. Cocktails such as a Woo Woo and Strawberry Daiquiri have made it into the specials section. Food is served throughout the week and diners can enjoy a selection of traditional diner dishes with a European twist. A chosen few to mention from the menu are Buffalo chicken wings, an extensive Burger selection, as well as a choice of Steaks.

We are now taking bookings for indoor dining only. Please keep in mind that during busy periods you must order a main course per person when you are dining here.
Otherwise, our terrace area is open only for walk-ins everyday for a maximum of 4 people per table.

So when we arrived at 6:30 pm we had asked if we can sit at the back of the restaurant where the tables are on the rised seating area. We were told no, that it wasn’t open. Even though we could clearly see a couple sitting there. We had a baby and a bugy etc and usually sit there and was never an issue. We asked staff they said no, when more and more people sat up where we requested to sit we again asked why we couldn’t sit there, and with a lot of persuasion the staff allowed us. There was flies everywhere, in our food and constantly around the table and we couldn’t eat all of our food. We requested to speak to manager which was facilitated and he was really nice, he said he would give us a discount. The discount was 11e, and considering the full bill was 118€ and not being able to finish food we weren’t happy with this. Staff were lovely and really polite and we had no issues at all with any staff. We always go to your restaurant for special occasions so we were hugely disappointed.

Food was very very slow. 8 people were finished there food by the time the final two were served. The prices are very expensive. And because the food was so slow it effected the cost of the carpark by an extra hour. 12 euro for parking. Good news . The server done her best and none of the above was her fault.

Music and atmosphere fab, staff were also hard working and friendly bunch. Had table booked for 4, but at 4:40 my daughter had to go and find out if a table was available, thankfully it was. Our order was taken and arrived quickly, Burger and Caesar Salad we couldn’t fault, but Chicken Strips were not very nice, Chips however were lovely. I would go back!

Bit disappointing overall a big group for lunch and it took almost 30 mins for a table despite having it booked. It took ages for the food to be ordered and the starter/mains/drinks to come. Completely under staffed and some good was amazing and some of it was colder due to the long wait.

Brilliant experience to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. Staff were amazing. A bit rushed food arrived before the drinks which was a bit annoying and the food came a dish at a time so half of us nearly finished before the rest. Plus way over priced for average food. But staff were amazing. Thanks for a great night. Go for the ambiance not the food.

Food was poor, ciabatta bread for the steak sandwich was stone cold Steve Austin, the mash potato was a disgrace to the Irish nation very bland with little or no taste, thought the drinks were pricey but that’s a given in Temple Bar. Came here for my 18 in January and they took photo Id no problem then the woman would refuse after telling her so many times I was here for my 18th willing to get a photo cuz my passport still isn’t here she still said no the food was okay not as good as the last few times I’ve been here the staff the whole night were just not nice except for the person serving our food then as we were leaving two ladies at the entrance called us back trying to tell us we haven’t paid for our food so so rude how judgemental

The food needs to improve very very basic for the price. Staff friendly and quick service but food is not up to standard.
