Three Restaurant & Bar
The beverage program takes a backseat to none. Eight rotating craft beers, hand-crafted cocktails, and a first-class wine program.

We had a celebration with 2 kids and 5 adults. Everything went well, food and service. It was hard to hear one another, however. We had a large round table and the noise level was just too high. Otherwise, I would recommend.
Good looking menu, but the food did not measure up. Additions service was lacking. Not a busy night. Two at the table were still eating our appetizer/salads, and the main courses were delivered. I offer to keep them warm. The server was actually motioning as is she wanted us to move the food we were still eating out of the way so she could put down the plates. On getting home, my wife found she had grease spots on her pants from the seat cushion. Too many good restaurants in San Mateo to eat here again.
Horrible food quality.
Appreciate that they serve brunch during the weekdays, a plus for me. The food was good, service could step up a bit, though I might return if I felt it would deliver upon my expectations. It could they were having an off day, though I had to get the staffs attention which took roughly 10 mins and everyone there had already been taken care of...... and it was not busy?
Awesome they never disappoint. All the staff are great
I have been coming to Three Restaurant for the last 3 years. The food, service and atmosphere have been very good and very consistent. It's my go to restaurant in San Mateo.
Great food, good service and quiet table by kitchen
Limited menu - especially salads
Three Restaurant & Bar is a terrific restaurant to meet a friend for lunch, enjoy drinks after work or to have a great dinner with family. The food is delicious, the ambiance is great and service is excellent! I can’t wait to return!
We’ve been going to Three and formerly Astaria for years. The food and service were good but not great.
not impressed with the look and set up of the restaurant. cheap blinds on the window, nor table cover, just a regular place nothing for special occasions or date night. but most of our food was good except for the stacked chicken which was the specialty of the house and it was over cooked and burnt.
We walked in and the host was rude we get to our seat and our server goes to another table that was there after us to serve them. When she gets to us she is rude and we felt rushed to give her our drink order. She only checked on us once but checked on the table next to us multiple times. Let it be known there where not a lot of tables in her area.
By far this was the worst experience I have at any restaurant and me and my husband will not be returning.
Nice design & ambience. Food is solid and service is friendly & prompt
Great food! Chicken wings, cauliflower, pork tacos, all great appetizers. Fried chicken entree stellar! Loud so be prepared to,yell through your dinner.
The food was wonderful as was the service. I would recommend everyone to dine here. Thank you for a lovely evening, Three.
Some of what we ordered was good, but there we some items (including the crab cakes) that were not.
The place was busy and, although there seemed to be plenty of staff, yet I felt we were not very well served.
The food was delicious! We had breakfast for Fathers Day and I loved the fact that we were not tied into a costly brunch menu.
Decided to give this place another chance, once again they proved the service needs work. Food is great, service not so much.
Service & food consistently good. Down side was noice level. Difficult to carry on a conversation
Good brunch in the area
Service was a little off. We had early reservation so it was not busy. We had to look for our server for everything we needed. Not our usual experience.
I will definitely be coming back here! I love the ambiance. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The food was super flavorful and fresh. I couldn't have asked for more.
I made a birthday reservation for 7 people at 1:30. Was told that the kitchen closes at 2:00. Asked for coffee at the end of our meal and they said they couldn’t brew anymore. Never again
Service was rushed
Dishes served too hot
Food and recommended wines mediocre
Not worth the money
The food was amazing! Definitely would recommend this to friends and will be coming back. Friendly staff too ❤️
Good food, approachable menu in a central location in San Mateo
Brunch was very good. Deep fried French toast was very good. A bit cold under the air conditioning. Nice place.
Food was hit or miss depending on what you ordered. The gnocchi with mushroom sauce were dense, the strip steak deliciously seasoned, the shrimp in the pasta dish were way over cooked and very bland, the salmon bites were as described and expected. Service was attentive and friendly. Ambiance fun. Price was a little high for the quality of the food, but quantity was great! Will come again to try burger and salads which looked good. Nice wines on the list - approachable. Fun for a friends gathering. Also, in general, I think 4’s are way overused. The place was good. A three is not a ding, it sets an expectation in line with the experience.
Tacos were greasy
Server was not attentive at all
We missed Henry!
My family and I drove from Fremont & had brunch at Three Restaurant & Bar last Sunday, it was our first time. So worth the drive. First of all, I love that they take reservations, not many places do. I saw how busy it got there & I would rather not wait to be seated 30 mins to an hour when we’re all hungry. We were greeted right away with friendly faces. Big shout out to or server, Tina, she was awesome! She was full of energy, super friendly & very attentive. Tina checked on us frequently, made us laugh which created an excellent first impression for us of the restaurant. Keep up the great work, Tina! The food was very good. Two of my kids had the chicken & waffle sandwich. They said it was very flavorful especially the chicken. It wasn’t just ordinary fried chicken it had a nice flavor to it. The eggs benedict was delicious. I had a Bloody Mary which Tina warned me was spicy & it was, but just right for me. I loved it! I would definitely recommend this place.
Great restaurant feel. Food is exceptional, as are the drinks. We were sat promptly. Also, service was exceptional. Our water was always full and staff checked on us to ensure everything was going well. Definitely a must go to!
I would have before, but I thought that the food could've been better and the service was a little slow. The pizza was good but the rest of the dishes (Lamb Adobo, Cacciatore, and Fried Chicken) that we ordered were kind of sloppy and cold. Based on this I wouldn't recommend coming here until I gave it another chance and noticed improvements.
Always a great experience
Food was absolutely delicious.
Easter gathering with extended family.
Nice place to meet girl friends for lunch.
The service and food were great, but the options are limited. Additionally, the noise level made it difficult to have a decent conversation, as so many people were yelling in the background. We may have been there at a peak time for social hour, as the place was packed on a Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
I would consider returning, but at off-hours - to avoid the crowd.
The service was really, really slow. The food was delicious, but cost was HIGH. My beet salad w chicken was $20.
Always enjoy coming to this restaurant for lunch. As just a "small" suggestion for your chefs, our group unanimously felt the food was under seasoned. My mom's pasta was also a bit too al dente. Otherwise, very good food, nice ambiance and atmosphere. Service was great and will definitely come back.
