I made a reservation because of the vegan and gluten free options. I was grateful that the menu was clear regarding those options.
This was a dinner for friends and I thought it would be a bit more of a nice restaurant. I would probably classify it more as daily dining, or a nice lunch spot. It's nice enough, but it isn't fine dining.
That would have all been fine, but the service was not great and they seemed to get things wrong regularly. i.e. the vegan pizza showed up with cheese. I had the steak, it was edible, but dry. There wasn't enough right about the experience to get me to try it again; there are so many options out there.
We had a great time at brunch! The guava mimosa and chicken and waffle sandwich were AMAZING.
The food and the service are good but could be better. I had to ask the waiter to clean the table before we get our coffee. Also if there was a bigger choice of vegetarian dishes, we would go there more often.
Love this place. Had the new spring menu. Everything was delicious. Great cocktails too.
Fun place, great service, wonderful food and cocktails. We enjoyed our dinner!
The atmosphere was festive and upbeat, waitstaff was courteous and food was delicious.
When you think of Easter Brunch what comes to mind is unlimited mimosas, a fixed menu all at a fixed price. Right? Wrong.
I made reservations here because I received a notification from OpenTable regarding making Easter brunch plans. This was one of the restaurants that were advertised as offering "Easter Brunch". What a disappointment! It was totally misleading. First they insist on securing your reservation with a credit card, this makes you believe that this is a legitimate Easter brunch. It's only after you are seated that you come to find out, it's not a special Easter brunch, it's just their normal weekend menu. Apparently, what makes this their "Easter brunch" is that they placed one small Hershey's chocolate egg at each seat. OpenTable should be ashamed of its self for not taking some basic steps to insure that what they are marketing is legitimately what people are going to be expecting.
Our server, Stephanie, was awesome as usual! She is so attentive, timed our drinks perfectly making sure the second round arrived as our food came to the table. She spotted that one of the entrees was incorrect and promptly corrected it. The food was very good - appears meat purveyor may have changed? Fried chicken is their awesome dish - a bit chewier than in the past.
Everything about the restaurant was just ok. The kids menu had many options and my kids both enjoyed their meals. However, the adults in our party were all left unimpressed.
Good brunch menu too
Amazing restaurant. Went here for my friend’s birthday brunch and the food was delicious!!! Service was also wonderful. Definitely going back soon 😊
had reservations for 8 and one cancelled so 7 when to dinner and the restaurant removed one small table that they added to seat 8, the small added table would have made seating for 8 cozy but by removing the table it made seating for 7 a little snug, that the reason for a 3 star rating in overall experience.
My husband and I come here almost weekly, generally for dinner. We stopped by last weekend for brunch and were so happy to see how busy it was! We've enjoyed our experiences and the service we've received at Three and we've never been disappointed with a meal. They have the BEST burger too!
Usually, we have great service but tonight was a different story. The restaurant was clearly understaffed. We never got water refills or drinks ordered unless we flagged down the waitress. The person who was helping bring out the food was doing it so fast I was holding my salad plate in the air because there was no place to put it on the table. It was ridiculous.
Our waitress only came to our table once. So that was disappointing. Food was good. Nothing special but good enough.
Service was very slow. Fried chicken in the Caesar salad was very tough (old?) and the salad was underdressed consisting exclusively of iceberg lettuce and tasteless croutons. The smoked trout was the only highlight. There were no anchovies. My dining companion did not care for the potato pancakes served beneath the eggs Benedict -- said they were just mashed potatoes formed into a fat pancake shape and deep fried. She did like the smoked salmon. Overpriced for the quality of the food and service.
Food is very good. Took almost 35 minutes though for our two meals to come out. Somewhat pricey for there upgrades. ($9) for skirt steak on a chillequilles dish.
Server was super sweet.
Extremely noisy place. They do not seat you until everyone has arrived. It simply makes the entry area crowded.
Great service and good food. Quite expensive for what you get.
I’ve been here several times for brunch. Lunch and dinner. Always delicious food, good dessert choices and great service. Highly recommend!
So yummy and fast service the best
Even with a reservation they were very late in seating us by over half an hour. The food was very good though it took a while to get out to our table. Pretty noisy too, hard to hear people at the table talking.
A lot of fun, great for brunch, drinking mimosas and family friendly.
The fried chicken is disgusting. Nothing has any flavor. The hostess is rude. They don’t answer their phone. The ONLY saving grace was the desserts. We will NEVER go back.
We got there just before the kitchen closed, and the waiters were very patient and helpful in helping us decide what to get. Half of our party was late because they had to tend to their newborn. The food and drinks were delicious. My wife and I have come many times, but we just brought our two friends for the first time and they really enjoyed it. We are moving back to the east coast, but this is and will be one of our top 3 go to spots in the Bay Area. I think this restaurant is underrated and unique around here.
The service is always good. They are happy that you've come. Food is great. Parking is nearby.
On the up side, the space is nice. However, inattentive staff dressed like they were going to be cleaning horse stalls and really disappointing food...I mean how can any one completely screw up scrambled eggs?! We won’t be back and will tell anyone who asks to definitely avoid. Too bad, San Mateo could use a decent breakfast place and Three is 100% not one.
My husband were at Three for breakfast. Food was delicious, lots to choose from on the menu. Our waitress and staff were friendly and great. Will go back to try dinner.
Wait staff was trying to turn the table over very quickly. We were still trying to finish up our drinks and brunch but they kept coming over and brought the bill over as well while we were still chatting and finishing up. I was also disappointed how I asked the waiter to write no capers on my smoked salmon Benedict but instead it came with no hollandaise sauce. Also towards the end of our meal when they kept coming up to us, we were only at our table for like 45 minutes max.
great place to get together in a casual atmosphere, yet pleasant dining
We had a great experience here. Awesome food and great service. My boyfriend arrived early and was seated right away and offered a drink. Our server was great and the food came out fast and tasted delicious. Would absolutely come back again.
It was way too noisy to hooks a conversation. They need some upholstery.
this was our third visit to 3 Restaurants
and the food has been consistently good and the prices are fair 🍻
The restaurant was so loud that we could not hear one another speak. We were a table of five and could only hear the person next to one another. Very frustrating.
Wow, they have gone down a notch or two since previous times we have eaten here. My wife ordered a lamb burger and it arrived with no garnish, over cooked, small, on a large plate by itself. I ordered a pawn mushroom pasta. You have to wash porcini mushrooms very carefully -- well they didn't so my pasta was full of sand. Beet salad was very good as was my son's burger. Waiter was fairly clueless, offered no amends.
Was here to celebrate a birthday. Service was just right not intrusive but came by just enough to make sure our water glasses were filled and we didn't need anything else. Food was delicious and servings were big enough where we had leftovers. Would definitely come back here.
The pastas we had was nice and chewy and quite tasty. However the fried chicken was poorly done with lots of batter but dry pieces of chicken inside. Kentucky fried chicken tastes so much better and a fraction of the cost. The service was excellent, but the food left much to be desired. I wouldn't come back again for dinner with all the other choices there are in downtown San Mateo.
Enjoyed outdoor dining with our doggo
We got there right at the right time, 10:30am on a Sunday for brunch. Three was a little quite when we got there and then the crowds started to roll in! Very accommodating with our little one, food was ok, service was ok, ambiance was ok, we will most likely be back. Nothing bad to say.
