We had the Valentine's Day prix fixe menu. The amount of food was tremendous, with leftovers making a wonderful full dinner the next day! The quality of the food and the flavor were excellent. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was more like a bar than restaurant, with kickboxing on two televisions being aired. The ala carte menu was extensive and inviting. I'm sure we'll be back!
Our server was very helpful in offering what was a chef's special. She was also great with the timing
of each course and did not make us feel rushed. I feel like we could spend time enjoying the food and
wine or come in for a quick bite before or after a movie. Excellent food and service.
I was passing by San Mateo at lunch time and being hungry went to Three Restaurant near me. I was asked if I have a reservation, said no, so they asked me to wait. Sitting there I remembered the Open Table app on my phone, so I used it and sure enough there was an opening within 10 min. I made the rez, and approached the host " I do have a rez now". Believe it or not, he said that it is not OK, because I just made it. I would say it is great that I just made it, this is the 21st century people! Get on it! After a short debate about it, we got a table and had an wonderful lunch! Exciting huh!
I keep trying to make this place work but each time I am so disappointed. The breakfast menu is good, maybe I will just stick to breakfast. I made reservations, we got the back are for a table of 7. The waitress was just not attentive... didn’t stop by to check on us, the food came out super late, she didn’t want to split the bill between two credit cards because we didn’t give the exact amount we wanted on each card. She was annoyed that she had to use a calculator to add two items and the tip on one card and the rest on the other. She didn’t care for us... which is fine.
Great decor and comfortable setting. The wait staff was very attentive and always made sure I had ice water and asked the table if they needed refill on their cocktails and never forgot about us. The food was very good and the portions were perfect. Getting setting to catch up with old friends, had a great time and would good back.
The food was good but not exceptional. I probably won’t go back. It was just ok. Our waitress was great. The specialty drinks were very good. I would recommend it for drinks and appetizers. Bar is cute.
The clam chowder ranks among some of the best I've ever had. The meatloaf is amazing -- you won't regret ordering it.
This restaurant has not decided whether they want to be a restaurant or sport bar. Food is not great but expensive for what it is. I will not go back.
As always, our meal was delightful. Three has a diverse menu, so that anyone can find something delicious to eat. They also rotate their menu, to reflect seasonal changes.
And.....Monday is happy hour all day. Who doesn't love that?
Had lunch here on 1/21/19. I had a 1pm reservation, but we weren’t seated until 1:20pm even though we arrived 10mins early. Our server wasn’t particularly nice and left us unattended after taking our order. We had to go to the back to find someone to bring us a check. Disappointing.
Had the waffle and fried chicken. Very good!
We needed a comfort food meal and both had the amazing burger.
Our server was so friendly and efficient.
The perfect end to a long week.
Service at the bar was super friendly and knowledgeable. The burger was tasty. We enjoyed our time at Three.
When we arrived ,the background music was too loud for conversation. The manager reduced the volume. HOORAY!
Amazing food amazing service !!!
Great food and atmosphere.
They have the best burger in San Mateo
Came here several times for lunch with colleagues. This place is well worth the drive into down town San Mateo. Parking can be a bit tricky but if your patient, you may get lucky with street parking. If not, then there's a parking garage around the corner.
The food is LIT and the service is great! Try their brunch, you won't leave disappointed.
Go on, give them a try!
hip, updated cool place. cheese warm appetizer sizzling yummy at table. big portion salad.
Good place to meet up with friend to have a nice meal and catch up on events.
This was the perfect restaurant to meet old friends from college for a holiday meal. It is located in a convenient spot relative to where we all live. It was easy to park. There were many excellent selections off the menu, so much so that a friend and I split two entrees because we couldn't decide--both 3 specialties (poached salmon benedict and the friend chicken sandwich). Highly recommended. We also got the trio of samplers for dessert because we wanted a taste of everything. We stayed well past the lunch hour and the staff was very accommodating--no rushing, always polite. Overall, a great find in the San Mateo area
Christmas Eve with family of 12
While the staff was very friendly, the service was terrible and disorganized. We had to ask three different people three different times if we needed something, including appetizer plates and water - things that you shouldn't have to ask for. The restaurant was extremely loud so it was difficult to have a conversation. The food wasn't great, either. Definitely overpriced for the quality.
Food was great, minus the salmon pizza. Service and décor were also nice; this was a good spot for date night.
The server was rude, unfriendly and not attentive . When asked about certain items on the menu, server was unpleasant with her answers as if we were bothering her. Steak was requested as medium but came out well done. Overall the experience was unpleasant and will never return.
Three serves a great brunch!
Went out for a date with my girlfriend and had a great time, food was amazing and service was very good
This place strikes the perfect balance between being welcoming to families while also feeling exciting, fresh, and original. In my wife’s words, “We’ve always had a good experience there.”
Great food and great service. Were seated promptly for a Sunday lunch - however the table we got (two of us) was not great, despite having a reservation. We were sandwiched between two big groups and we could hardly hear each other talk.
We were able to place our orders in timely fashion and did not have to wait long for our food even though it was a busy Sunday brunch. The staff came to check on us a few times, cleared our plates and our check was brought to us without us having to request for it which was a nice touch.
This is the place to go for brunch if you don’t want to wait for an hour or two. Service and food was good.
Really love this place, consistently great food and cocktails, very attentive and friendly service.
Service was slow but the food was incredible. We were a party of four, and every dish we had was absolutely spot on delicious.
Always wonderful!!! Not a fan of the the pumpkin soup
Service was slow. Meal was good. Place needs a good cleaning
It was good food, reasonably priced. Got a little bit of sass from the host for not having my party of 6 arrive on time, even though 5 of us were there at 10:15.
So she had to give our table to someone else but other than that, it was fine. We still got seated by 10:30ish
Great food and service. Desserts amazing!
It's never a miss at A3. Great food, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. I recommend any meal of the day, however, brunch is a treat.
My friends birthday.
The menu was fun and full of good options. The server was professional and attentive. The food was very flavorful and quantities were large. Chicken Ratatoulli and Risotto were excellent. Mint chip Alaska was a big hit for dessert. Biggest drawback: noise.
