   We had been in this pub some years ago and it was busy and the quality was good. We booked a table not knowing if it would still be busy. We had looked at the menus online and there was plenty of choice. On arrival we were told it was only the lunchtime menu on because there had been an issue with the manager and head chef! There was no other pub in walking distance so we had to stay. A member of bar staff came back to us and offered us a bigger selection of food, it came quickly and was ok. Such a shame as this could be (and was) such a lovely village pub.

   Accepted our reservation even though they had a large party that day, arrived and we stood at the bar for ages before being approached, staff seemed to know nothing about our reservation, we seemed to be an inconvenience, we were told to find a table and they'd serve us food like they were doing us a favour, in short we were unlikely to find a table so left, doubt I will be going back

   Having arrived we ordered drinks and decided on the menu. The pub was filling up - a folk band were playing and there was a long wait to be served at the bar - minimal staff, sometimes all seemed to disappear. Finally we found a member of staff and told them we were ready to order the food. The staff member said she wasn't sure if the cook was available, she called on another staff member who looked equally as unsure. Finally one of them said they would go to the kitchen and see what there was. We had asked for the homemade pie, coming back she said there were two in the freezer she could heat up. She seemed very disinterested and distracted. The veggie pie was unavailable but said she had something left that was a veggie option. Our table very soon decided this was not going to be an enjoyable eating experience which was a shame as it was for my partner's birthday and we had already asked for the cake to be put in kitchen. We finished our drinks, asked for the cake back (finally after another long wait at the bar (a lady next to me had been waiting 10 minutes) and departed only to find staff sat in the beer garden!!!! My first time of visiting this pub was very disappointing!!

   Very accommodating when we modified our menu choices. Always enjoy our Sunday Lunches here, especially as it’s so dog friendly.

   We all four of us had the Sunday roast and it was absolutely amazing. Kudos to the all of the team for making us all welcome. The person singing was also really good. We will be booking again.

   Christmas lunch at the 3 Bishops was a disaster. Table booked for 2.30. Finally seated at 3.15. Starter was awful, including inedible soup from what tasted like a packet. By 4.30 the main course had still not appeared so we left. They were totally out of their depth having booked - and charged extravagantly - for far too many and employed far too few to serve or cook. Lots of excuses and unfulfilled promises but no real apology. An embarrassment.

   It was terrible service, very disorganised. Had to wait over 30min before being crammed onto a table next to drunk loud locals at the bar. Then it took an hour to get cold starters with no cutlery. A further hour for cold mains again with no cutlery. We couldn’t eat the mains and left. We spoke to the manager who gave lots of excuses but as far as we could see the whole service was terrible. A table of 6 next to us also left due to the appalling service and terrible food. What a to ruin someone’s Xmas day. We were meant to get a glass of fizz on arrival and this never happened. When we went to settle the bill they were going to take £35 off the £160 cost of the meal, but even that was far too much to pay for the terrible service and equally terrible food. We told the manager the £50 deposit we have already paid more than covers the experience we had. Her reply “ok I don’t argue with you Merry Christmas”. Still no apology or accountability. Having now seen other reviews this isn’t just a one off Xmas thing this is their service regularly. Would not recommend and would never go back. Only gets one star as you can’t give 0!!

   We were seated originally at a table in the upper bar area which was very crowded and not much room As we didn’t want to sit and eat our meal amongst the drinkers at the bar we requested to move After moving to the restaurant area we were able to eat our meal in relatively more comfort. Meal was only mediocre and not worth the money we paid for it. Husband had steak which was grizzly and was supposed to be served with a sauce which he never got. Overall experience was that we would rather have cooked our own dinner at home.

    Christmas dinner at £80 a head (2 of us) On arrival there was chaos, we eventually were sent to our table to find a crumpled bit of table cloth, all other tables were laid up with crackers and a table decoration. We were supposed to receive a glass of Prosecco on arrival, it never came so eventually we asked and got it with our dessert. The dinner was ok but as basic as you can get, we had to ask for cranberry sauce! When we politely said we were disappointed the lady was rather offhand and just kept saying Happy Christmas as if we were killjoys and then said we could have a bottle of wine to take home. The staff were not even remotely looking festive and it was difficult to tell who were customers and who were staff. It was all a massive money making event with as little expenditure made in the process. Never again!
