   The new Fall menu is incredible. The rockfish and shrimp were amazing. Our plates were a work of art and the service was perfect. We had been to Thorton River Grille for lunch several times but this was our first dinner there. We can't wait to go back!

   I have doned at Thornton River Grille for years and looked forward to another great dining out event. Much to the disappointment of both of us we found the food to be nothing special this time. Neither of us had drinks, appetizers of dessert and still the bill including a 20 percent tip was in the mid-seventies. Sadly I have decided that I have no need to return to this restaurant!

   We are regulars at the Thornton River Grille and our last experience proved why. The food is great and the service wonderful. At the end of the meal, we were told that the desserts were on the house. The reason: 2 months earlier, there had been a problem at an affiliated restaurant. Management put two and two together (without any prompting) and comped our desserts. That's exemplary business.

   Service was outstanding. While the dining room was at full capacity, the staff of 5 hummed like a well tuned machine.

   Thornton River Grille was recommended to myself and my fiancé as a great place to eat while we were visiting Shenandoah. We were looking for a nice restaurant to eat and came across Thornton River Grille in our search but without looking at the menu thought it was a burger place but boy were we wrong. They have a nice assortment of quality dishes. I would highly recommend making a reservation as we did as this is not a huge restaurant but it makes for faster service having a reservation. Upon arrival we were immediately escorted to our table, the waiter was awesome in giving us what was on the menu and what the specials were. The food was great, staff were awesome, and very helpful to what they offer. I would highly recommend Thornton River Grille for anyone looking for a great place to eat in the Shenandoah region.

   We enjoyed our meal. Our waitress was friendly, but my order came with items missing. I asked about the added items I requested on my salad and it was quickly remedied. My entree had some items missing as well. I had passed on the mashed potatoes with garlic and the waitress offered to add extra spinach and roasted tomatoes instead. I agreed, but it came with no extra spinach and not a roasted tomato to be seen. I just ate what I had. It was all very good, but the attention to detail was missed. We will come again, though.

    Our third trip to Thornton River Grill. Booked Valentine's Day a couple of years ago and it keeps calling us back. The atmosphere is authentic and the food is great!
