   Good food. Decent service. Not really pleased about presentation of automatic 20 percent gratuity. Should be disclosed ahead of time. I generally tip 20 percent or more, but this felt wrong. Is this the new standard? Gratuity should be choice of customer based on service.

   We have been here several times and truly love it. However, tonight was a huge disappointment. It is early in the season but the service was not acceptable. We ordered wine and they were out of both bottles. The upsetting part was it took so long to discover this we were done with dinner. No apologies and this doesn’t work for a 5 star hotel, especially with Chatham Bars Inn moments away.

   Thoreau's is a unique intimate setting. The cocktails and food are lovely and service is impeccable.

   We had really had wonderful dining experience. However there really should be valet parking and its very difficult to reach an actual person for questions or changes to the reservation. Food was delicious and server was impressive but had way too many tables to service for the dining service expected at Thoreaus! We loved the evening dont get me wrong but for the level of service at wequasset you should get 5 star service and the the hotel should not over stretch their staff. It is one if my favorite places but there is room for improvement.

   Ordered a cocktail on the rocks and it was served in what looked like a water glass. Playlist was a jarring mix of jazzy lounge and, strangely, some night club sounding techno. Service was inconsistent. We had to ask for the rest of our sparkling water that we ordered. Portions quite small, but quality was better than average.

   Awesome food and excellent service. The menu is very limited in the Winter though, along with no specials. Otherwise a great place.
