Great environment and the staff was excellent and very understanding. The food was delicious and service timing, 👍. My second visit and I’m planning another one soon.

The food was super yummy! The service staff was subpar, except for the poor expeditor who was running around like crazy to make up for the waitress

I always come here when I go to the Yerba Buena Theater before a show. It’s easy to schedule a reservation on open table. It can be noisy in the front area especially on a Friday evening but there is an area in the back that’s quieter to converse. The food is super tasty. The tapas portions maybe small for some but just right for me. I usually order beer but ordered a specialty drink of wheat beer & vodka. It was refreshing but could hardly taste the alcohol. Our waitress was fabulously friendly. I wish I could remember her name but I gave her 25% tip because it was well deserved. It’s my “go to” place because walking distance to theater, prompt service and tasty food.

Disappointed in the vegetarian paella, but it was the first time to try it as my guest required it. It may be the customary style for vegetarians to eat tasteless dishes. I’ll stick with their superb non-vegetarian version.

We were seated in the back at the tables by the kitchen and not in the main area. For food, we ordered the Valenciana Paella. It was presented well, was more than enough for two people and a good mix of seafood and Chicken/Chorizo. It was super salty though and, mixed with the spices, made you very thirsty.

The calamares fritos was cooked well although a little more rosemary would have been in order.

Overall, I think it's a great place for a bear and to watch a game, but the kitchen needs to step up it's game to compete in the area.

Lots of interesting beers to choose from, food menu is good, not great. They had a charcuterie plate but no prosciutto, which was a disappointment. The room is large, therefore sound carries.

Had a great business/investor meeting at the Thirsty Bear and the food, beer and ambiance were a big hit. Tapas menu was very good and the beers are always on point. Investors had a good time and wanted to come back as they are big beer-o-files and loved the craft beer selection.

Thanks TB

We were celebrating my birthday, the employees made us feel like we bothering them, with the exception of the bussing staff. We came here specifically for the paella but tried a few tapas as well it was all just ok, we didn’t have any dessert. we more than likely won’t go back or if we do it’ll just be for the beer.

My husband and I had a great meal at Thirsty Bear for my birthday. We asked for and got seated in a non-crowded quiet area of the restaurant. Everyone was friendly and the waitress was excellent in explaining the food and beer options. We tried a variety of beers and tapas. The portions were ample and the food was very good. We ate only vegetarian (potato dish, squash dish and flatbread) so cannot comment on any meat dishes. We had leftovers, which was packed up for a nice meal. For dessert we had the chocolate molten cake which was so so good. I am a chocoholic. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and will go back there again.

This is one of my favourite places in SoMa/FiDi, their tapas and beer are excellent. Unfortunately, it is very loud on Saturday nights, especially when there's a conference or convention being held at Moscone. Our most recent experience was marred by loud and annoying children on top of loud and annoying large groups. It's a shame but we'll probably avoid this place in the future.

We arrived just before the live flamenco. A very nice experience accompanied by a nice Spanish menu. Four hungry people shared two tapas and two paella.

The taster beer selection was great fun. The food was nothing special and the staff made you feel like they wanted you out of there as quickly as possible. It was a fast food experience. The plates were being cleared before we had finished. We also got the wrong bill which had a load of items on it that we hadn’t had. No apology.

No real reason to go here, especially if you're not a beer fan. Tapas-style dishes weren't imaginative or particularly well executed. Staff, while accommodating around dietary needs, was green, slow and only marginally friendly. Kale salad was inedible and burger was thoughtless and pedestrian. The whole experience was super unremarkable. And prices were a little steep given portion sizes. If you're stuck at a work event there, the food is okay, but definitely no reason to go out of your way.

Great Restaurant Week deal! $40 for 4 course dinner with beer pairings for each was a great ladies night out. Bonus was their Sunday night flamenco dance performance.

This is a great spot to go for drinks after work, but I do not recommend the food. The first dish came out frozen cold and the second dish did not taste fresh at all. I still would recommend this place because the service was good and the beer selection was abundant.

Went here on the way to the Museum of Modern Art. In a way, wish we hadn't. It was ok, and that's about it. The food was average tapas, fairly tasty, nothing better than I've had in hundreds of so-called tapas joints. The beer was good, but it should be at a place called Thirsty Bear. The service was quite slow - they were friendly enough and did an ok job, but they seemed tired and lacked anything close to enthusiasm. All in all, the experience was...blah

Very disappointed with food and overall service. The fish and chips were down right awful with thick greasy batter and smelly fish. The lettuce in the salads was limp and slimy black. The chicken sandwich had really strong liquid smoke flavor which I personally cannot stand. All of the sauces we were served had that liquid smoke flavor and the potatoes were overwhelming garlicky.
The wait staff check on us before we even took a bite and left so quickly there was no time to even taste anything. They never came back except to clear the table. On a good note the sangria was great but$36 for a pitcher was not a bargain.

Great combination of tapas, Spanish meals, and some tasty original crafted brews. A bit pricey given the casual atmosphere & the portions but a good Spanish meal. Make a reservation and ask to be seated up front, away from the (potentially noisy) bar area.

Delicious tapas, warm and friendly ambiance and ample drink selections.
I love to bring friends from near and far to the Sunday eve flamenco shows.
The guitar playing and singing is soulful, and the dancing explodes with fierce beauty.

My favorite beer was back in stock, in a new variation, which was even better than before. My husband liked his as well. Some of the dishes were as good as ever; i.e. mushrooms on flat bread but some were a disappointment. The shrimp were very small and over cooked. The potatoes were dried out in the patatas bravas. The harvest salad with kale and roast squash was good. The best dish was the roasted delicata squash. Service was wonderful. Still a fun place.

We came in for the Sunday night flamenco, being flamenco musicians ourselves. The flamenco, a singer, a guitarist and two dancers, were of the highest caliber and put on an astounding show. The service was excellent, the food and sangria essentially good but not great.
