My only comment - I am a little disappointed that the afternoon tea was confused with high tea. Visiting BC, I will hope that the employees will know that calling it high tea does not make it fancy. High tea is served between 5 and 6 pm. It is served in a high table and is for the working class and they serve heavy meals. Afternoon tea is served with delicate China and involves table manners. The presentation was very fancy and by no means it was a high tea experience . I really hope you take my feedback seriously and educate you staff on this particular topic.
We were delighted that our vegan request was granted and the chef created delicious courses for us to enjoy. We loved our server Marilu. She was attentive and helped make the entire experience special.
have enjoyed three, themed teas now. Each time was lovely. Looking forward to the next one.
Although the setting in Notch 8 is interesting, it is not what one traditionally associates with High Tea. The low-ceilinged room feels somewhat claustrophobic. The lighting & lack of acoustics makes it feel more like a bar than an appropriate venue for tea.
The service was excellent, not hurried. The food was tasty, each item unique.
We all especially enjoyed the shrimp sandwiches.
Not great value for the price.
This tea was a wonderful birthday experience for my wife.
he food was excellent and the waiter made the experience very pleasurable.
Great tea experience. Lots of creative food ideas and an elegant treat. Cost was high, but a unique experience. Woukd have liked to see more tea selection options.
You need better vegan and vegetarian options please
She was great to talk too about Vancouver
So disappointing. Had high expectations for the themed tea but two of the naan bread savory bites were soggy while three of the desserts were so dry they were inedible. We were grateful for the scones, they were amazing. Sadly everything else was not.
Good service Guy is so polite and friendly smile all the time 👍
The food left a lot to be desired. It felt as if it had been prepped too early and wasn’t fresh ( the breads in the sandwiches/wraps were soggy and pakoras seemed stale.
Overall venue was great but we also felt rushed during service. It wasn’t like most other teas I’ve been to
Unfortunately we were 30 min late due to demonstrations. So we only had 60 min to enjoy the experience. Our server was amazing very comforting and empathetic to our aversion to garlic, he went above and beyond to make our experience memorable seeing as how it was my husbands birthday, he came to the table with a cupcake with a candle (a very nice touch). I highly recommend! The tea was lovely and the treats definitely savoury and very ingenious.
Birthday luncheon before the opening day of Downton Abbey movie.
Overall the experience felt rushed. I had just sat down to the table and was asked what tea I wanted. It was hard to get through the list and pressure was on to pick a tea. The server called the items by different names when they arrived so we had to ask again to steer clear of items some of our party wanted to avoid, another server saw that we were challenged while passing by but was gracious enough to help. For the price, I would have thought that the whole experience would have been next level...I can tell you, it’s not. There were screaming children at a table near ours and no one told them to be quiet not even their parents so that did not help. Overall I feel that they are hiding behind the Fairmont name, catering to tourists and not quality service, food and overall experience. The actual tea was lovely. I won’t be back and can’t recommend it.
Loved the High Tea service at the Fairmont hotel... excellent tea choices and the finger sandwiches were divine. Sweets are plenty but premade. Loved it overall.
Serge Labelle’s service was wonderful. He even took my photo with his ipad and sent it to me as my flip phone didn’t take good photos. Love how the sandwiches were decorated with edible flowers and the pastries were scrumptious.
Love the atmosphere. Service was attentive and down to detail. High tea items were beautifully presented, if not too traditional compared with other themes before. Loved most sandwiches, and my favorite were the scones and condiments. I didn't finish half the desserts, hoped they could have been more creative and less sweet. My least favorite was the quality of tea selections, and for my surprise, three type of tea I've tried here were so weak, nearly undrinkable. I'm a big tea lover, have tea from normal tea shops to The Empress, and have my own collections around world. I was so disappointed with the tea quality this time around. It also came in a metal Teapot, easy to get burned. Still I enjoyed the time spent there
Excellent afternoon tea!
Afternoon with friend on vacation from the US. Expert service from Serge. They were given excellent attention even though there were several other parties including a large party of nine. Highly recommend you ask for Serge if you schedule an afternoon tea at the fairmont
A group of 4. We all had a great time. A nice setting, not too quiet or eerie as I expected from reading other reviews. The sandwiches were great. The only thing I would change would be to have more savoury sandwiches and fewer desserts. We packed up most of the desserts but some of it would likely be wasted compared with more savoury food, which would likely be less filling on the day. I would still recommend the afternoon tea and would likely take future guests that are visiting.
we had a wonderful experience and highly recommend the high tea.
Great and attentive service staff. Enjoyable high tea experience overall.
I’m not sure about the noise level just because my daughter who is 4 WAS the noise level. Lol. The food was great and the desserts were fabulous. She had a great time and so did I. It was a fabulous learning experience for her and we will be making it a tradition for sure !
It was a lovely afternoon and we found the woman who served us really added to the whole experience as she was so helpful and pleasant. The food was really nice a m d good value. We took away most of our sweet goods and are still dining on them 4 days later👌🏽Altogether a lovely afternoon and would do again.
DH & I were here for the Hotel Vancouver 80th anniversary tea $59.00 per person.
We booked on OpenTable.
The tea included: English scones, Golden Sultana scones, 5 savoury sandwiches & 6 desserts.
There were 8 tea selections.
DH chose Joie de Provence which was a mellow rooibos with dried berries & a dash of lavender.
Unfortunately, the tea was too mellow for him. He was disappointed he couldn't taste the berries/lavender.
I chose the Creamy Earl Grey.
I couldn't really taste the Earl Grey nor the creaminess.
We really enjoyed the savoury sandwiches.
Anything you can't finish, they will pack it up for you.
Our server was Guy. He was friendly & attentive.
In fact, all the servers are. They will ask if you are celebrating anything & offer to take pictures for you.
The 80th anniversary tea is on until Labour Day & then they'll have a Downton Abbey-themed tea to coincide with the upcoming movie.
Please be aware that if you pay by credit card, the hotel will add a holding charge.
We got an email alert from the credit card company with the amount they were charging & it was $10.00 more than what we signed for.
We called the restaurant & they said they add a holding charge for incidentals but the posted amount should be correct.
Good value base on price! More than enough quantity of food for two of us, we actually had about 25% of food left over and packed home. All sandwiches, scones and cookies tasted very good! Excellent service too! We will definitely go back again!
The 80th anniversary high tea at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver was fabulous! The whole experience was lovely and the food was excellent.
We are on vacation and I thought it would be fun to do a ladies tea at the Hotel Vancouver. Admittedly it’s a silly and touristy thing to do but the food was pretty awful. Way too many sweets. I guess I’m not a tea food person. Too much food for too much money.
The waiter was nice and the light show was fun!
Great selection of food with a theme. A very intimate place to be with your special someone for which in our case a quiet birthday hightea. The place is really cozy and comfortable. The service is top "notch" (pun intended). Really friendly, accomodating, and professional. My favourite place, easy.
Excellent afternoon tea!
We had s awesome afternoon for our wedding anniversary
An awsome experience that you should have at least once in your life if you can afford it. About $130 Canadian plus the tip. If you don't know anything about high tea the friendly staff will help you to thoroughly understand and enjoy the experience. There is tea but for us, it was the food.
The food is wonderful, flavorful and memorable. There aren't words to describe the deserts they are so good. Eat slowly and savor the experience. Anything you don't finish will be boxed up to take home... and you will want to take it home. I'm now a bigger fan of tea. If I lived in Vancouver I would go at least once a month. They made a special plate of deserts beyond the normal selection, made without nuts due to my allergy. There were vegetarian options as well.
The ambience was a problem. Not a good venue. Should be in the restaurant.
Serge and Marylou were awesome. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves.
We've now made the Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver a yearly tradition when we visit for a vacation! The beautiful Fairmont Hotel is the perfect location for a wonderful British High Tea. The food is not only unbelievably delicious but plentiful, such that we always have leftovers to take back to the hotel for a late night snack! Excellent service and high quality food make the Fairmont THE GO TO spot for YOUR afternoon tea! Don't miss it!
I have been going to high tea for many years and have been to Fairmont prior to renovations and enjoyed it very much. The high tea that I went to August 5 was below standards expected at the Fairmont. My tea after the 1st pot began to weaken, the bread was stale on all the sandwiches except for the cucumber one. Not worth the $71 (tax and tip).
We took my sister for a birthday tea it was very filling and the quality of the food was superb. Our server was amazing offering to take pictures for us with all three phones! We took lots home. It was a lovely experience and the room the tea is held in is lovely. They even have her a birthday crown and a birthday cupcake. I would go again for a special occassion. My only query was , what was the theme?? I thought a themed tea would be more obvious but it was not clear to me! All the same it was the best tea I have been to in Vancouver out of the four places I have been.
Our waiter was fantastic and made the tea even more special for our family.
This themed tea was amazing! The food was superb! It was a great experience! I highly recommend this tea.
