The food and service were excellent. Cheerful staff
I recently visited the Christmas Markets and after checking the menu for The Yorkshire Bar and Grill, decided to book a table for myself and daughter, as the menu appeared to be reasonably priced, varied and offered food that we would enjoy eating. However, the menu I was given on arrival, was not the same as on the website, and the main course only offered steak or one chicken dish, all of which were far more expensive than we had anticipated. As we are not keen on steak our options were limited. The chicken dish was adequate, but not exactly filling. We were asked if we would like to order drinks from the bar, and although we placed an order we did not receive them. Also the general temperature in the restaurant was cold, and other diners could also be heard commenting about the temperature and the change of menu.
I was very disappointed in this dining experience. I understand that restaurants do change their menus periodically, however this has changed beyond recognition and I feel will alienate a lot of diners.
A good venue for groups. Good quality food and friendly service.
Had a lovely afternoon tea, local sourced with Yorkshire tea served in a wooden box (not the tea).
Staff were incredibly rude. Made a reservation online and there was a mix up with times and when we walked in and said we had a reservation the server just stared and frowned at us and walked off, left us standing in the middle of the restaurant, the manager then came over and wasn't much better accused me of lying, I will admit the mistake was on my part but to be so rude to a potential customer. To be honest it's far too snooty for me, any restaurant that treats people the way they treated us doesn't deserve custom.
Never been served afternoon tea in a crate before - yes a crate and it was all good. fresh sandwiches, scones and sweet trwats plus large glasses of prosecco.
Afternoon tea with prosecco was delightful.copious hot tea and coffee , fresh well filled sandwiches and homemade sausage roll served followed by mini brownie, Eton mess and scone with cream and jam. Un fortunately scones were burnt and when I pointed this out was told that's all they had.only negative in experience.Interestingly served in mock wooden crate on slate platters with Astro turf underneath which was different.
I booked a picnic style yorkshire afternoon tea & fizz for 2 with a Travelzoo voucher and it was easy to reserve on line via Open Table. We had a warm welcome and were served with tasty savoury & sweet items in a crate with our 'plates' being slate. There was enough to satisfy both of us along with a big pot of Yorkshire tea and two glasses of prosecco. Good service too we were asked twice if everything was ok (it was) and if we wanted fresh tea. An afternoon tea with a difference which I would recommend.
