The food is excellent. We got surprised by a 20% mandatory gratuity charge for getting our own food in a buffet! Gratuity is for good service; but here a lunch buffet where you mostly get your own food triggers a gratuity for 6+ people. Something the restaurant should declare before charging. The buffet has no menus that declare this charge either.
My highest recommendation, the food was thoughtfully and deliciously prepared and the the service was impeccable... definitely 5 star experience
The food was mediocre with very small portion size for the price and taste. The manager or whoever he was taking out order did not care for us and we had to wait for him for a 20-25 min to place our supplementary order. When asked for recommendation, he had very little to say, whereas I have been to other restaurants where the manager is so excited to entertain and ensure the guests are having the best time.
Poor quality and uninspiring dishes. Butter chicken had no butter and was too sweet. Desserts were not well soaked. This is no where close to good quality Indian food.
Second time I've been here for a team luncheon, It was great. Food was great, service was great. Definitely come again.
James is the best, most attentive server of all restaurants anywhere in Bay area. Great recommendations. Food maintains fidelity to Sanjeev Kapoor's famous recipes.
Our server James and the rest of the staff were friendly. James was very knowledgeable about the menu and made wonderful suggestions. My husband had a lamb dish that was very deep in flavor and tasty. I had a fish curry dish which was light and great in flavor as well. The only draw back was that the dishes were all a la carte. I am accustomed to having rice included with the main entree/protein. We had to pay for two bowls of rice just to get half the quantity to which we’re accustomed. It was quite a splurge for us, but overall the food was tasty and the experience enjoyable.
Parking spot to find is difficult, food is tasty. But food is little bit pricy.
Good food nice ambience. Service could be better. Overall happy experience.
The kitchen service was really bad, they made table with fewer guest wait an hour, so that they could serve a table with 20 guests. Kitchen is really short staffed, and it affects their service.
We usually go to Amber San Francisco to enjoy fine Indian food...this place is equivalent to Amber but in South Bay.
The vegetarian entrees were excellent. Highly recommend for casual dining as well as for special occasions.
Excellent service. Took us in even though there was a confusion about hours of operation with Open Table. Food was good as always.
Great place but the food was not good at all. Very disappointing. Being a Sanjeev Kapoor restaurant I was expecting good quality food but it was just ordinary even underwhelming. The Lamb was not cooked well and the other dishes were just OK
Amazing food and ambience. I would definitely recommend to try this place!
We have enjoyed every meal here. Flavorful dishes, lots of vegetarian options. The naan breads are all very good. Service is very accommodating, especially helpful in selecting different dishes.
We were a party of 12 people, just took a chance for a weekday dinner. It actually exceeded our expectations. The choices are limited though.
If you love authentic indian flavors with elegance and poise yellow chilli is the place to be on weekend and week days.. yummy dessert is always on top of the pallet.
Really bad indian food, not worth going ever
Not even a single dish was worth eating
Food was below average. What was the hype about the restaurant? I ordered their famous chicken, munchie soup and chicken biryani. Both chicken dishes were not worth it. I am not going there again and wouldn’t recommend it to any friends.
I would but the food is not exceptional. Service , ambiance are good.
Love this place as always - great food and service
This was our 2nd visit this year. This time we went with a different group so some orders were similar to what we had ordered last time. The food tasted the same so consistencyv was maintained which is really good. Amongst 4 people, we ordered veg mix platter, 2 gravies - shaam savera(signature dish) and dum aloo, bread basket. Our stomaches was full at the end with no room for dessert. We had carried home food for 6 yr old and the staff allowed us to feed her outside food which we really appreciated.
Only thing I would say to the chef is to check the salt level in shaam savera because the gravy is already tangy due to the rich tomato base. Both times the salt was overpowering
Limited veggie main dishes. All had the same type of sauce - tomato base or tomato cream.
Service was not polished.
Good food! Friendly atmosphere. Even my mom who is very picky, ate a good amount.
Food was good but Service was spotty. While we were having drinks and enjoying the appetizers, the server came and wanted to change the plates. We had to pint out that we had just started eating. Also, while changing the plates between courses, our silverware was simply placed on the table (which does not have a table cover) which is not the most hygienic. We were celebrating a birthday and told the server, but there was no ideas from them about ordering a desert to acknowledge. No cell coverage at all which was good in a way.
Great place that serves more than the Indian buffet staples. Coolers and Sherbets were awesome.
Below average place for the price i paid. Its totally waste to go to this place. Wont not recommend to anyone.
Food was too creamy , and felt stale on Monday.
Also, we requested welcome greeting for small birthday occasion, and that was refused ......
Never such a terrible service - there were no plates , appetizers were over and it took them 10 min to get everything
I sent a question earlier, no response yet ,nnnnhgfdfhiohgdeetyiojhfderyiokjgffdfgjkkjhgfc
poor service, just ok food, expected much better from a Sanjeev kapoor resturant. we were disappointed
Service and ambiance are great. Our expectations for food was a lot higher due to Sanjeev Kapoor’s name but it was still decent.
It was disappointing to see that the restrooms were not clean and were just like any other Indian restaurant. Just this part was disappointing.
Very high-quality food, breads, ambiance. Will definitely return. Street chicken earned positives raves, garlic naan was also very high-quality.
Fantastic dining experience and would highly recommend this restaurant to others!
Overall a good experience , just that we were asked to place the final order at 9:10 - 9:15 itself, though the restaurant was closing at 10pm . Atleast the breads should be allowed to order untill 9:45
Food was really good. Expect small portions if you do go there.
We ordered veg food. The paneer tikka was bitter and we didn’t like it. The aloo tiki was reasonable.
The aloo palak was bland and didn’t have enough salt and hence tasted very average.
The subzi was missing something but was edible. The breads were good.
The veg biryani was the disaster. They had just put some half stir fried veggies and lots of rice. There was no flavor or class to the dish. This was the most disappointing dish.
However the dessert- kulfi with rabdi was excellent. Not sure if that was made or store bought.
We spend $140 but had such an average meal that ‘Madras Cafe’ would have been better.
The restaurant was almost empty during lunch and it still took an hour to get our food. We didn't order complicated items. For example, the daal is 'cooked overnight' as described on the menu and shouldn't take an hour to serve. The portions were small for the price and the service didn't come and check up on us.
Some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. The tandoori lamp chops and lamb biryani are to die for.
Food was yummy but they charge separately for rice and bread. Salad was difficult to eat as pieces were way too large.
