2 of our 3 entrees were extremely salty. The ravioli was so salty, we should have sent it back. The redfish was also very salty. Service was very good and we enjoyed the atmosphere.
Cocktails were dazzling, dinner was delicious, and the staff was super attentive. We really enjoyed our dinner. COVID protocol were in place and made us feel super comfortable. Our party of 6 was over the moon with the efficiency of staff and our entire dining experience.
Really great experience. They are still working with a limited brunch menu (assuming due to Covid). They were understaffed, but our server, Skyler, handled our table well. For context, he was dealing with 7 professional women during a girls' weekend. We had MANY questions and asked for many concessions. He took all of our requests in stride and took great care of us. Most of the ladies had the chicken and waffles. One had the American platter and another had the burger. We all devoured our food.
Great service and food. Very nice staff. Will be back.
The restaurant was freezing, food was cold, coffee was cold.
Went for Galentines with my friend & enjoyed seeing all the beautiful couples. Our steak came out underdone but when it returned *chefs kiss*. The potatoes were small in portion & underdone as well, but the taste was good. Overall I enjoyed my
meal & would dine again!
We had reservations for Valentines. The food was all pre made. We were literally there start to finish for less than 30 min having a 3 course, pre made dinner. The potatoes were under cooked. The steak was cool. The chocolate mousse dessert was a dime size dollop in between large puff pastry. The salad literally had two ingredients. A bunch of arugula and a little bit of goat cheese. Our bill was $300. No ambiance. ZERO quality. Rushed. I’m pretty sure we got charged twice for the steak. When we questioned the bill, we were brushed off and rushed out the door.
Not worth the amount paid. My Fiancé and I got the springer mountain chicken. The taste was very bland. I could have went to KFC and got better chicken to be honest. The water we got was awful (Tap water). The server was very nice, but the meal was overrated. I would not recommend going unless you are okay with mediocre food and expensive drinks.
Food was insanely over priced and we were rushed by our service. Horrible service and the food was mediocre at best. I will never eat here again.
Very great food, service, and vibe! I’ll definitely be back again soon.
Great food, very unexpected quality. Appetizer, main course, dessert- everything was outstanding. The only issue is the quality of water in the water glass. It definitely tested like chlorinated tap water and for a good restaurant it is something that is too noticeable. With that we forgot about water as soon the first dish arrived. We will be coming back for sure.
Tonight was a limited menu for Valentines Day. Food was very disappointing. Crab bisque was lukewarm. Arugula salad was ok, just nothing special. The chicken entree was very dry. The plate was hot so it may have been sitting under a heat lamp. The potatoes appeared to have been sitting under a heat lamp as well. The fish entree was a blackened Louisiana red fish. It was ok. No real complaint. But nothing special or memorable. The menu had 3 desserts listed. We had an 8:15 PM reservation and they were out of 2 of the 3 desserts. The waiter could tell we were disappointed and offered us the option of a caramel drizzled brownie with ice cream. So we ordered 2 of those. When the brownies came out, there was a burned smell. My wife ate two bites but couldn’t get past the burned taste.
Overall, hostess was very pleasant. And server was just ok. No major complaints. But the food was very disappointing. Has nothing to do with the $65/person price. The food would have been disappointing at any price. If only one item had been sub-par, we could have chalked it up to bad timing. But all 3 courses were disappointing. With the restaurant choices in downtown, there is no reason for a return visit to The Yard.
Valentines Day Dinner
Great ambience and the food was good. Our Server was friendly and patient.
Thank you,
We stayed at the Elyton Hotel and really enjoyed the food at the onsite restaurant, The Yard.
The Valentine’s Day Dinner Menu was sub-par. It was also overpriced for the food that we received. My waiter did not know the menu like he should have. The drinks were like syrup. The dessert was overpowering. The atmosphere was okay, however it was really bright for a 200$ date night. I had the pan seared duck breast and there was no seasonings added which made for a dry taste in my mouth. Very disappointed and will not be going back nor recommending it to anyone. They either need new chefs that can handle variety or need to stick with their original menu. I was looking forward to making it back to my car to eat my Valentine’s Day candy for dessert.
Food was horrible. Clearly all premade.
Went for Valentine’s Day. Service was great. Lobster bisque and caramel cake were great. My main dish was red fish but it had very little season so the taste was bland.
Inexperienced service and food was not good.
Great experience from start to finish!!!
The salad and desert was great!! The main dish was not good.
The chicken was dry with little to no flavor and the fish had very little flavor.
The Yard is a fantastic downtown spot for fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. We'll be back!
We enjoyed The Yard. The food and service were good. Recommended!
Incredible find! Love the hotel and now this lovely place to nest! We had so much fun! Great service, food pairings were delightful. Will definately head there again!
Excellent meal and wonderful service!
We were a group of 6 (3 couples). Tee had a great experience especially with the Birmingham food week
The steak was hard and chewy, the waiter spilled water on the table and half cleaned it. It was a special occasion and that was not even acknowledged. The food price is way out for what they offered. I went to cafe Dupon afterwards and had an excellent time.
There was lots of availability for reservations for this date which should’ve told us there might be a problem. The food was fine. Dinner was cold and not flavorful. Desert in a cast iron skillet was cold. Dessert was brought to our table while we were still eating dinner.
Cocktails were great! Brussel sprouts tasty!
Excellent experience! The food was fantastic. I don’t even like brussel sprouts but theirs were great
Great service for Brunch, the bartender was great. Regretfully the food was subpar. Not just one plate but pretty much everyone at table had issues. Starting with a completely dried out cinnamon buns, greasy eggs, and undercooked potatoes. Food was a horrible experience hopefully this is not their normal
We went for our anniversary. It was Birmingham Restaurant Week. They had a great dinner set for a great price.
We had a small multigenerational birthday dinner at The Yard. I was able to make reservations online and a request to be in an out of the way location in the restaurant was honored. Some in our party are vegetarians and there were adequate options on the menu for those folks. There were plenty of very good options on the menu for those of us who did not mind eating meat. Our favorite appetizer was the roasted brussel sprouts. All of the food had lovely presentation. Although there is not a kid's menu, the kitchen was gracious to make a great grilled cheese and fries plate for the kid in our group. The wine was not overpriced as it is in some restaurants. We will go back to The Yard again.
Good evening but the heat wasn’t working & it was COLD in the restaurant. Whitney was great!
Highly recommend this place! Excellent customer service and good.
This was our second experience at The Yard. Both times we received excellent service and delicious food. There is a wide variety on the menu, but not too many choices which would result in lower quality. In addition there is a great cocktail selection as well as a thorough wine and beer list. The presentation is beautiful, as well. Pretty ambiance and slightly modern decor with a nod to the history of the building.
We had Christmas Eve dinner for our family. While not knowing what to expect, we just approached the dinner like everyting else in 2020, with caution. The ambiance, friendliness, service, and food all far exceeded our expectations. The drinks were creative and tasty, the wine list gave many choices, and the menu had something for everyone, even on Christmas Eve. There is no doubt we will return soon. We created a wonderful family memory from that night.
Limited food. Nothing like menu on website. And food was horrible except for cinnamon rolls. Good server although he should have called manager about misrepresentation of menu on website. Will never go back.
Will never go back again. Awful experience. Complete waste of money.
I was disappointed in the quality of the food. I ordered Beef Tartar which is usually finely diced beef but what I received was a very course cubed meet that was a little tuff to chew. The salad I ordered has very little flavor and the $24 steak burger was not much better than what you would get from Five Guys. It’s a nice place but given the few patrons in the restaurant during COVID times, you would think they would make a better effort to get you to return.
Our waiter was great and very knowledgeable about the menu. He was great! I was there with my family celebrating my 30th birthday.
