View Private Dining DetailsThis was by far one of the worst experiences ever. My friend and I had a reservation for 4:30pm but our guests arrived earlier than we, the hostesses. On our way to the restaurant, we were disturbed by so many calls from our guests who we had invited about how the waiters and servers and just basically everyone at that damn restaurant was complaining about taking our tables and chairs away. That was truly embarrassing. We arrived there around 5 which makes no sense because did you guys expect us to stay for only 30mins???? I do not see myself coming back ever again. On top of that, I tipped my waiter only to see him talking bad about my guests and I almost as if they wanted us to leave. I had such high hopes for the restaurant, but everything failed me. I was already stressed about planning my birthday and you guys only added to my stress. Thank you.
I reserved their private room for a large birthday party, and it was amazing! Service was above and beyond, pricing was reasonable, and food was excellent!
We had tickets for a show at the Paramount so stopped here for Happy Hour and then dinner before. Appetizer was the sausage plate with jalapeño cheese bread - delicious! I had the lobster roll and my husband had the lobster and scallops. Both were excellent. A friend joined us for a few drinks as well and the waitstaff didn't rush us at all. Overall it was a great experience. Next time we're downtown, we'll definitely be back!
The tomato bisque & lobster roll were fantastic. Our server, Kyle, was superb!
Goat cheeese dip was 5 stars good. Same for green chili soup w/ meat. Salads fresh and crisp. Beef filet and mashed potatoes was excellent too. We split it because we wanted to try other starter items. Beef was on bone and very tasty and tender. Hedges red cab/merlot/syrah wine was smooth and quite excellent. Waiter noted birthday card and treated us to salted carmel gelato - yummy. We missed music because it starts at 10pm. Wished it started earlier. This restaurant beat our expectations. Ambiance needs a little freshening, but food and service are tops.
First visit to a nice downtown (on the 16th Street mall) restaurant with good food and pleasant wait staff. Will go again when the opportunity presents itself.
Good food. Inattentive staff. Live music but way too loud. Had to move 3 times to hear each other.
Couldn't get in... too noisy and the hostess was completely drunk!!!
I love that they are not a chain restaurant and that they locally source their their ingredients! Our favorite wine is their house red which is supplied by a local winery!
Their sausage board is a favorite appetizer and we have tasted several items as a main course and lived that they are prepared perfectly and not mainstream restaurant fare! Michael has been our server several times but everyone there has been great! This is one of our top 5 restaurants! We love introducing our friends to Appaloosa Grill:)
In town for a couple of days and went there based on a review. The bison chili was delicious! Loved the roasted brussel sprouts and the cauliflower sides. My husband's sirloin was a little rare to his liking, but had a good flavor. We were there during part of Happy Hour and enjoyed some nice drink specials. Service was excellent! One of the owners stopped by our table. Recommend highly!
In Denver for a conference and needed a good place for dinner with colleagues. Staff was very understanding and accommodating about my ever-changing number of guests. Service was fast and servers attentive. Location is convenient to the convention center hotels but the restaurant does not have a tourist feel. Dark in a good way, very cozy, nice ambiance. Food was excellent. Mac and cheese with lobster - be prepared to share.
I still haven't got my hearing back. Food and service were OK.
Took my college aged daughter and her friend; the food was delicious. The lobster roll was as good as any I have had in the lobster shacks in Maine and the bison steak with ravioli was rich and cooked perfectly. We sat in the dining room instead of the bar which gave us a quieter option to talk. Service was prompt and attentive; definitely would go back the next time I am in Denver.
What a cool place! Finally found a *neighborhood* restaurant that qualifies as such because it doesn't seem to only cater to the transient population as most restaurants in the area do (even if it does that also).
Surprisingly diverse menu, absolutely wonderful that they can tell you where the land meat comes from (it's all local and free range), they serve lobster rolls(!) which are as good as some I had in Boston, and some nice vegetarian offerings.
Great ambience and service. They don't seem keen on reinforcing the smoking ban parameters of being 50 feet away from the entrance so that smell wafts in quite powerfully; it adds just enough to create a dive vibe.
The menu and price does not fit the ambiance. The restaurant was dirty and the hostess was unprofessional and classless. We will not return unless we're looking for a trashy little happy hour with very low expectations.
Appaloosa is such a classic bar & grill. I have been coming here for over 10 years. They always have consistently great food and fantastic beer to pair. I have never ever been disappointed by their live music as they always bring diversity and jamminess to the restaurant. Can get a bit loud once the music starts so if you want to converse be sure to come earlier and then jam out after. Only issue I have ever had was due to service when it starts to get a bit crazy or when they are slammed. Usually just forgetfulness or wrong order - but have always been very nice and usually comp a beer if that was the case.
The correct dinner menu should be posted online. My dinner companions and I were shocked over the prices over arrival, and the fare is not really teen or child friendly.
My girlfriend ordered the lobster and scallops. The food was cold. I mentioned it to the waiter who was very apologetic. He took the food back. Matthew, who was the manager, brought her food back heated properly. He was also extremely apologetic and took her dinner along with our appetizer off the bill. He certainly didn't have to do that. Very customer oriented!! A+
The food was absolutely wonderful and the service was great.
Always amazing. This is truly a Gem!! the food is always outstanding and just delicious. The speciality drinks are pretty yummy and differeny as well. Service has always been great.
Wonderful food and really great staff. Our big group devoured the calamari, warm goat cheese and 2 plates of fried pickles (OMG!) before getting dinner. It was all so good.
This was my first time dining at Appaloosa Grill and definitely not my last. The food was amazing. My friend has dietary concerns and there was plenty of items on the menu to choose from. The portions were plenty. I was definitely full, but I did need a "to go" box. The wine list was average, the beer selection all local and fan favorites. I made a reservation through open table and Appaloosa called the day of our reservation to confirm our time. How many restaurants do that? Service was good. We were well taken care of. We even had a visit by the manager. We were there for an evening show at the Paramount. Reservation was at 6pm, and we were out to the show at 745pm, no rushing, no issues. I highly recommend this place.
Wanted to check this place out and it didn't disappoint!!!! Great food, amazing service. A bit pricey but I will go back!!!! Good late night happy hour.
The scallops were to die for! The BEST I have ever had!!
Food was overpriced for how it tasted. I saw that they had seafood on the menu and being from New England wanted to try it. It was not worth it.
Took a group of 12 there during a team meeting. Seating was comfortable and they didn't cram us into a small space. The staff was fantastic and attentive. Drinks were always filled, food was timely and it was an all around great experience. The food was fantastic. I'd call the menu Denver-fare. Good mix of eclectic meats (rabbit & rattlesnake sausage, Elk steak, Bison, etc), fantastic veggies and comfort food (the mac & cheese will knock your socks off). I always love my experience at Appaloosa Grill, I'll be back.
My food was awful. My burger was burnt and my boyfriend got something totally different than specified on the menu. Other than the food the place is great, I was disappointed because it used to be one of my favorite places but it has gone downhill a lot.
Great food, friendly service. Will definitely be coming back
The service was quick! But we didn't feel rushed. In addition, all of the waitstaff was friendly and helpful.
We had Xmas dinner here. Our table was right next to the kitchen, and the noise level was high. Our salads came out only 1-2 minutes before our meal, so a leisurely meal was out of the question. It was a disappointment for a holiday. I think this restaurant would be better for a casual meal when in a hurry.
This is the 3rd year we have had Christmas Dinner at this restaurant. We had reservations at 6:00pm and was seated on time. At about 8:00pm we had the hostess come to our table to tell us we were going to have to hurry up as they had another reservation for our table. We told her as our food came out we were eating and had not been just sitting at the table. At this time we were waiting for our desert. Her reply was that we had to hurry and eat and leave so they could set another group at our table. She was very rude and did not acknowledge that it was their kitchen getting the food out very slow. We have always had between 8 and 10 people and everyone has the same opinion, we will NOT be back to this rude restaurant!!
Went there for Christmas with my parents.
They were late opening in freezing weather.
Filled the restaurant and then took orders.
My salad was literally made of the tops of romaine heads, browned and extremely bitter. The duck was ok, and my potatoes were the same. The problem is that I have had two days dedicated to the bathroom that started at 2 am after dining there!
I will not go back.
We went there for dinner on Christmas. They rushed us through our meal, the food was cold and not cooked thoroughly. Terrible experience, would not go back.
Overall the food was good but the elk carpaccio was drowned in some kind of jelly was
It was a very cold night. On these nights they need to turn up the heat. Very cold in restaurant
This is a perfect place to dine before attending a show at the Paramount Theatre. Service was fast and friendly. Food was great. Ambience was warm and welcoming on a FRIGID night.
furnace was broke, so very cold on our visit, but great food.
This was my first time eating at this restaurant and I chose it to celebrate by college graduation with friends and family. It was a great experience. The food was fantastic, with a diverse menu. The appetizers that our waiter recommended were wonderful! They also have a great selection of beer, wine, and specialty drinks. I highly recommend Appaloosa Grill for a date night, special occasion, or just for happy hour after work.
Four of us stopped by before a concert at the Paramount Theater. First time visiting. We loved everything from the time we walked in the door. Appetizers included the sausage board and the bison meatballs - so good. We had the duck breast which was perfectly cooked with amazing mashed potatoes; the lobster and scallop risotto could possibly be the best risotto I’ve ever tasted; bison ribeye with brussel sprouts was also perfectly cooked as was the bison steak and ravioli. For dessert, we share the banana walnut cake, lemon curd tartlet and the vanilla gelato. Try the cake - you won’t be disappointed.
This is a local restaurant that highlights locally sourced food and drink. Will definitely be back and have already recommended it to others.
Service was friendly and attentive - also helpful on menu choices.
Always a great meal prepared and served by people who understand and appreciate what a great dining experience should be.
