The Woodman Inn
This is the second time we’ve visited. Good food, with friend service and it’s dog friendly, what more could you ask for?
A nice place to have Sunday lunch, a little tightly packed together for my comfort though. The food was nice but my lamb was difficult to distinguish from my companions beef due to using the same gravy. Our meal was reasonably good value for money & we will probably go back on a future visit to York.
Probably the best foodie pub in York area. Excellent value. Lovely service / people. Consistent quality of food. What more could you ask for?
This is a lovely place to eat. Always a warm welcome and great food, Thank you :)
Just love The Woodman for a fabulous meal and no one leaves hungry!!
Good pub grub served in a great atmosphere. Welcoming to families, accommodated our10 month old grandson without a problem. Will definitely return.
Normally the food is very good, but we tend to have the Pie or Burgers. This time we tried the Thai Green Curry, it was the worst food I have probably had. Watery with no flavour.
Staff were apologetic, but it didn't change the fact that the night had been ruined, especially as we were having a celebration.
Best Sunday roast I’ve had in years! , the staff are really friendly and attentive, I go here for Sunday lunch as often as possible and i recommend the Woodman to everyone I know.
excellent food service and drinks
Bit cold to begin until door closed when requested then all ok.
A very average meal. Was expecting a much nicer meal from the reviews. Had the steak which was nice but the chips were supposed to be double cooked but some of them were still hard inside. I had a peppercorn sauce but it had a chemical taste to it, very disappointing. The waiter said he would inform the chef but we didn’t receive any feedback. The Eton mess sweet was very nice and the staff were nice, friendly and helpful.
The steak meal for 2 is amazing ... £19.95 for 2 steaks Monday to Friday
Great Sunday Roast with lots of choice quick service and proper Yorkshire Pudding and lots of Gravy
Really lovely the food and a relaxing place to eat. The pub had lovely decor and the tables are spacious . However on the Friday evening we went there was only one person serving behind the bar and one person serving the tables for food and drinks. I felt very sorry for the person having to serve all the tables and it took at least 30 mins for our order to be taken for drinks once we all arrived. Would have taken the order for food to the kitchen myself if I could as I felt so sorry for the two staff who were coping admirable. My suggestion for the management is to ensure you have more than two staff on Friday especially when you have a lot of tables booked in advance. That way there would be less pressure on the staff and more happy diners.
Lovely food as always. Thank you
Fabulous steak cooked to perfection and I eat my steak blue which few places can do right. Highly recommend
Fantastic food and service as always.
Chocolate fudge cake is to die for!!
Most of my friends prefer vegetarian options and to be honest there weren't too many of those. But the menu isn't extensive so perhaps that's why.
Some of the dishes are over priced for what they are. £16.95 for a tuna nicoise salad eg.
Overall nice place, I had fish and chips and the fish was very fresh and the small was a good size portion.
Brilliant as ever.never varies.always reliable and friendly.
Lovely chilled attitude from staff. We came and went outside and they held our table inside whilst the children played. Food was lovely too.
Never been before ... would certainly return.
Lovely food & very good selection for lunch. More of an eatery than traditional pub yet has a quaint/cosy area to have a drink & mingle too.
Really liked the place & very nice interior/style.
Food quality and portions were excellent, advisable to book in advance if dining, which we did as it got very busy for Sunday lunch. Service also good and will definitely go back again.
The reviews I reaf prior to booking were very accurate. This is a nice homely pub serving generous portions of excellent food. I marked the service and overall down because I booked a table due to the fact that we were attending a nearby event but the table wasn't ready ay the appointed time. Although there were empty reservedtables we were made to wait almost 10 minutes. Once seated the staff wete attentive and efficient. Would definitely go again.
Really nice and good service. The steak pie was mega. Also, very accommodating for a special choice for a vegan.
Wow...excellent food. Really friendly service & great team of waitresses.
Excellent food in a lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend this pub. Very good service. Go one a month with some friends. Would recommend the fish and chips orange brownie is so good.
Great food great service we will be going again beautiful place
Good food in a good pub. Landlord and staff very friendly and helpful
Cracking cosy place with hearty grub and the most welcoming staff. Jenny was especially attentive to us as was the rest of the team.
Great Sunday roast - good portion size for adults and kids. Only recommendation would be to have gravy served on the side as plates arrived with a lot of gravy and people's tastes for gravy amount vary!
Great service, friendly staff, amazing food.
Will defo be going back
Great food, excellent service and the biggest bonus, they are dog friendly!!
The food that we had was good and well presented. As it was Easter Sunday the venue was busy and staff seemed to be stretched so the service was not the quickest. One of the waitresses did drop most of a pint of beer over our table. This was an accident and she was very apologetic and cleaned everything up. Overall we had an enjoyable experience.
Friendly, professional service. Delicious food. Would highly recommend.
Only one fly in the ointment Too much soya sauce on the wraps
Last minute choice and we’ll worth the visit will be b@ck
Good value for money food - good service and a welcoming atmosphere.
We came in for Sunday lunch for mother’s day , the food was delicious and the portions were very generous, the atmosphere in the pub was nice and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. As for the bill I felt it was reasonable considering the quality of food and drink we received. I would highly recommend this place and am sure we will be eating there again .
Food tasty but hot drinks at the end were cold and had to send back coffee. Added 50p for ‘treats’ with a hot chocolste but just got shop-bought wrapped biscuits. I expected a homemade biscuit as an extra touch and some complimentary fresh breads with the meal.
A welcoming and agreeable venue for a lunch. Adequate off road parking. A wide ranging menu fom light meals to full size and a good choice for over 60's. Attentive waitress service and bar staff prepared to allow a taste of beer available.
Been to The Woodman many times over the years, and it has long been the first choice for my family special occasions. Never lets me down.
