The Woodman Inn is a traditional style pub with modern twist, wonderful stained oak beams lace the ceilings, and local artists showcase their work on the walls. The open fires and cosy snug help to create a relaxed atmosphere and welcome people to sit and chat over a drink and light bite. The dining area has both intimate and large dining tables perfect for a lovely meal for two by the coal burning fire or friends getting together for a celebration and unique dining experience. All of this is topped with a beautiful oak bar stocking draft beers, fine wines and every month a tasty selection of locally produced guest ales. Round the back of the pub is a sun trap beer garden where visitors can enjoy a drink and snack under a beautiful aged oak with a secure children's play area. This is the second time we’ve visited. Good food, with friend service and it’s dog friendly, what more could you ask for?

A nice place to have Sunday lunch, a little tightly packed together for my comfort though. The food was nice but my lamb was difficult to distinguish from my companions beef due to using the same gravy. Our meal was reasonably good value for money & we will probably go back on a future visit to York.

Probably the best foodie pub in York area. Excellent value. Lovely service / people. Consistent quality of food. What more could you ask for?

Good pub grub served in a great atmosphere. Welcoming to families, accommodated our10 month old grandson without a problem. Will definitely return.

Normally the food is very good, but we tend to have the Pie or Burgers. This time we tried the Thai Green Curry, it was the worst food I have probably had. Watery with no flavour. Staff were apologetic, but it didn't change the fact that the night had been ruined, especially as we were having a celebration.

Best Sunday roast I’ve had in years! , the staff are really friendly and attentive, I go here for Sunday lunch as often as possible and i recommend the Woodman to everyone I know.

A very average meal. Was expecting a much nicer meal from the reviews. Had the steak which was nice but the chips were supposed to be double cooked but some of them were still hard inside. I had a peppercorn sauce but it had a chemical taste to it, very disappointing. The waiter said he would inform the chef but we didn’t receive any feedback. The Eton mess sweet was very nice and the staff were nice, friendly and helpful.
