The Wooden Table Ratings and Reviews
This was our 3rd or 4th time at the restaurant, and they were not having a good night. Our party arrived fully by 7:02pm for a 7pm reservation, and we ordered drinks/wine by 7:10, but it was almost 40 minutes until our drinks arrived, and we were told repeatedly that they were "a little behind", but folks sitting at the bar were served long before we were. The service got better after that, but the food was good (not great) and we paid Denver prices for it. We don't know if we will return.
The food was so bad we had to go eat after we left!! Maybe I don't have a refined taste but the friend who ate with me thought it was worse than me. I honestly cannot recommend this place based on the food, even the chocolate tart was not edible.
I don't expect to pay $150 for a meal and the restaurant to be in a strip mall, sitting in one open room to include the bar and with drop down sealing tiles. Way overpriced and the food was bad, we will never go back again.
Anniversary dinner with service to suit the occasion. Dropped bouquet off that afternoon and they arranged and placed it on our table. Food was excellent. Chairs could have been a little more comfortable. In all, a wonderful experience. Looking forward to return in near future.
My wife and I were very pleased with the quality of food, relaxed, quiet surroundings and atmosphere. The service was outstanding-very attentive yet not intrusive. The price of food was a little high, but not high enough to prevent us from going again, which we definitely will.
We decided to try this restaurant for my husband’s birthday. The ambiance is very nice. Each of the staff we interacted with was friendly. The appetizers we ordered were very good...mussels and the chicken liver mousse crostini. The mains were disappointing...the duck pasta was supposed to be a Bolognese sauce, but was more like a broth and the pasta was undercooked. The scallops were good, but the pork belly they came with was utterly without flavor. The wine was slightly corked and my husband asked for it to be decanted to see if aerating it would take care of the problem. The server clearly had not been trained about why a wine is decanted...she dumped the bottle into the decanter without any thought to sediment. Lastly, the prices were quite expensive for the quality and there were few wine choices that were below $100/ bottle. I would suggest they have a wine steward open and pour the wine. When we suggested the wine was corked (our fault for not sending it back), the server looked blankly at us as if she didn’t understand the implication. We were excited to try this restaurant, given the restaurants with which the chefs had been previously associated. I’m sorry we had a disappointing experience.
I bought a Groupon because this is close to my home and it seemed like it was worth a try. My girlfriend and I were pleasantly surprised that this place is great! The food was wonderful and the service was outstanding. My gal said it's her new favorite place. We will definitely be back.
Birthday and I met a dessert I really didn’t like. The meatball sandwich had a tasty quality meat combination and the bread was good. The rosemary potatoes chips were to die for! But the apple pear Napoleon had a tough crust which it would have been better if they used filo dough and the fruit part was just ok.
Although this restaurant is located in a busy strip mall with no real "views," the ambiance is warm and inviting in the small open dining room. Our server, Willow, did a fantastic job of taking care of us and because of her excellent service and the well-prepared and delicious food, we will gladly return. It is a little pricey but well worth it, which makes for an enjoyable date night out or with a group a friends.
There are so many other great places to go rather than the Wooden Table. The food is overpriced. It was cold. We had to ask for bread. We had to ask for water. We went for my 40th birthday and the server didn’t even acknowledge the special evening. Waste of money. Do not go here.
This holiday season I ate out many times with different friends and family. The Wooden Table served the best food by far than any to the other restaurant. The only reason I did not give them all 5 stars is, the service was a little bit slow, probably due to a packed house and the noise level was high. I had their Linguine with Manila Clams, House-made Sausage, Dry Vermouth, Oregano, did I mention it was fantastic.
We will be back again.
Everything is locally sourced and the majority is handmade by the chefs/owners. The service is fantastic - the staff was able to answer my in-laws' questions, explain every dish and drink and make recommendations based on their tastes and preferences. My very picky in-laws thoroughly enjoyed dinner over the holidays and are already looking forward to next time. To top it off, they made the effort to call us just a few minutes after leaving to tell us we left something behind.
Always the best! Agnolotti is absolutely amazing; order the large portion otherwise you will be too sad thinking about how much you missed out on. One of the few Northern Italian restaurants in Colorado worth considering. Excellent wine choices and attentive wait staff. Everything we have tried was made with exceptional care. It all tastes so good and has such wonderful texture. Perfect house-made pastas.
The muscles app, salad and pasta were great, but we thought the duck dish we ordered was not well put together and not appetizing at all. The other main course was scallops and those were fine but really not anything to write home about either. We left knowing that we will never go back because of that duck entree.
The food is very good. But at lunch it seems they're trying to save money by not having enough staff. We ended up having a 2 hour lunch! We ordered drinks with 2 desserts, got one dessert and about 10 mins later got 2 drinks but the third was out of stock. Never received the second dessert. We will return but maybe for dinner instead.
Don't let the location fool you! The Wooden Table, although in a strip mall, has delicious food and an extensive wine list. It is a bit on the pricey side, so we used a Groupon. The service was attentive (great recommendations all around from our server) and the one-room restaurant was cozy and well-appointed. This is a special-occasion type of place that we can't frequent regularly, but we will definitely be back in the future.
We always get the mussels as they are delicious - saffron broth and house made sausage. The staff knows you are going to love the broth, so they make sure to give you a spoon. We also got the lamb carpaccio for the second time in a row. It's not gamey and has a nice citrus and olive topping. They have seasonal dishes with pumpkin risotto and cranberry chutney. I'm pretty sure the duck breast was the best I ever had. Perfectly crispy and delicious skin, with a tender and just pink interior. It was pretty fabulous.
We are regulars. Always love our spinach salad with the goat cheese and berries. The bread is so good, comfort food. We both has the veal saltimbocca that we had not had before. It was really good!!! The red wine reduction was great on it. We tried the pumpkin spice cake instead of our usual chocolate tarte. It was yummy. Seasonal. Make reservations for Thur - Sat. Always busy.
