This is one of our favorite restaurants in Frederick, MD. A few notes:
- The menu is very good, and although the restaurant is pricey, if you get the 3 items for $26 for brunch/lunch, even if you get items that require additional $, it is a pretty good value.
- Food is simple, but delicious.
- Desserts are wonderful!!!!
- Wines are overpriced.
Outstanding food, service was perfect. Bar tenders know their trade.
Nice location. Food was good.
Great service and excellent food. They made me feel very special on my birthday
For an out-of-towner The Wine Kitchen is hard to find. But it's worth the effort, as this is one fine restaurant, more than worthy of a detour. My wife's roast chicken was excellent, and my steak - a marinated sirloin - was one of the best I have tasted on any continent. The service is ultra-courteous, polished and professional. The restaurant lives up to its name with its extraordinary and fairly priced wine selection. The servers are knowledgeable about the wines, and the pairing on the flights show an intelligent and knowledgeable understanding of wines from different countries. Happily, The Wine Kitchen has avoided the current trend toward creating a phony sense of excitement by being extremely loud. It's a wonderful restaurant for food, wine and pleasant conversation.
P.S. If you’re driving and using GPS and you put in the restaurant's official address - 50 Carroll Creek Linear Park - you’ll never find The Wine Kitchen. The key is to locate the public garage on Carroll Creek Way. Park your car ($3), then cross the street to the modern-looking building that faces the garage. Take the elevator to the first floor and follow the sign. When you step out onto the brick terrace turn left. Voilà!
I have to say, the chef knows his food. We came to the restaurant on the recommendation of a wine-maker we know. It’s ambiance was nice, the cozy yet upscale without trying look it is kinda thing that a lot of places seem to be going for these days. We waited for our table at the bar because we were a bit early. The bar area is a bit tight but the tables in the restaurant are a nice space from each other. The barback recommended the fried oysters to accompany our glasses of white. They were yummy, with just the right amount of cornmeal crust. By the time we made it to the table, we were looking forward to dinner. Our server was attentive yet didn’t hover.
A good steak and a chef that knows what medium-rare looks like is hard to find. I’m usually disappointed when I order a steak I go out. And test I keep trying. Nobody seems to understand the difference between medium and medium rare. Every once in a while a medium well shows up on my place.
I took a chance and ordered the rib-eye. This, this was perfection. The crust, the grill marks, the herbed butter...yum! The veggie sides were also sautéed just enough to send my plate into heaven. During the GM’s walk around, I mentioned we came to his restaurant because of a friend. He continued check on us throughout the night. I really appreciated his attention and care that his place stood up to the recommendation given. We will be back!
The wine and appetizers were especially good. We will return.
Food was great. Loved the Pastrami sandwich! Wine flights were interesting and variety not readily available in local stores. Would definitely return.
Went for lunch, so restaurant was not super busy. Several people in restaurant but still able to hold nice conversation at table. Food was very good, and not all run of mill.
The Wine Kitchen staff took very good care of our group. Our server, Sam, was great and very attentive without being intrusive. Made for an enjoyable meeting and evening.
Wine Kitchen on the Creek is a must-visit for anyone new to Frederick or passing through. I hadn't been in a while, and I am happy to report that all the changes I noticed have been improvements. (Love the new wallpaper near the bar).
For starters, my guest and I were warmly and attentively greeted right upon stepping through the door-- felt welcome from moment one. Our server, Karolina, was fantastic-- knowledgeable, helpful, and never too intrusive. Everyone on the front of house staff works as a team to truly create a seamless experience, service-wise.
The food was exquisite (as usual). My date was vegetarian and found solid, interesting entree options (butternut mignon with pistachio butter was EPIC). Do not skip cheese and charcuterie-- (they even had a vegetarian pate--!!!???). No long waits for any courses.
All-in-all, if you need a good weekend date spot, or just want to enjoy a flight of expertly curated wines by the creek, WK is your best bet.
Outstanding dinner yet again! The halibut with horseradish gnocchi was stellar. The fish was cooked to perfection. To top it off, they finally got the "G" back on the wine list!
Was there for a birthday celebration and the staff gave the birthday person a handwritten card. Nice touch. Food was excellent, perfect portions and the service 1st class.
The food was delicious! I had the cornmeal pancakes, sausage gravy fries, and mimosa. Service was excellent
My wife and I go to Wine Kitchen on the Creek a couple of times a month. The decor was recently refreshed, not sure necessary, but done nicely. But we go there for the food and this time was no exception. It was simply delightful and delicious. We had a new server, Justin..... very good, knowledgeable but more importantly just another great wine kitchen server. We have always had good service not matter how busy it is. My wife and I agree that we would put their Sunday Brunch up against any other restaurant and it is likely to be on top because of the creativity, ingredients, excellent prep and presentation all enhance by the service. We would highly recommend Wine Kitchen on the Creek, not only for Brunch but for lunch and dinner as well. Kudos to the staff and management for consistent excellence.
We enjoyed the quality of food and the service made you feel special. They serve high quality food and excellent wines. Enjoy!
The Wine Kitchen never disappoints us. We recommend it for any occasion.
Good food, interesting menu, good service
We’ve had great food and great service. The menu is very adjustable and the atmosphere is comfortable and friendly.
Food was great. This was our 3rd visit for dinner. We will be back. Have to give their lunch a try.
We always enjoy Wine Kitchen. You can be assured of the quality of the food and service. The only thing missing this time was not being able to sit outside. We’ll be returning soon.
WK is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is perfectly executed and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming--far from the pretentious environment one would expect in line with the food. We make a point to come here from Baltimore if we have an afternoon to travel.
Our meals were great! I loved the romaine salad I ordered. It was perfect for lunch. We all enjoyed our food and the waiter was very patient with us since we were all catching up.
We stumbled across this gem of a restaurant on a whim. We were visiting Frederick for the day and looking for a place for brunch. The meal, the service, the atmosphere are all amazing. We liked it so much we went back for coffee and snacks later in the day. We can’t wait to go back for dinner.
Wonderful dining experience! Will definitely returns.
This is our second visit to The Wine Kitchen. Just like last time, the salad/appetizer and desserts were outstanding. I had the beet salad which not only was beautiful to look at but so delicious. Next was the rainbow trout. This is what I had last time and it was better because of what was served on the trout. Last time it was underdone beans. It did not compliment the fish at all. This time it was a pickled cabbage with small potato cubes. So different and yummy. But the best was last- the pavlova. Yay was delicious beyond words. I’ve never seen it on a restaurant menu but had read about it and the Wine Kitchen’s version, with blackberries and lemon sauce exceeded my expectations! I’d love to return multiple times just for the beet salad and pavlova.
Service could use a bit of improvement. Our waitress took our order and that was the last we saw of her. No one checked on us after food was delivered so once entrees were done we had to ask a waiter to help locate our waitress who didn’t appear again.
My absolute favorite place. I have never had better food and have never been disappointed.
Always a great time. We celebrated an 80th birthday and the guest of honor had a wonderful time. Tom is excellent! Thank you!
Excellent choice for a belated birthday dinner with friends. Enjoyed the food and wine selections. Great place on the creek in Frederick.
Great food and service. Consistent no matter what time of day or who you are with. Love this place.
We have always loved this restaurant and have eaten there many times. This time, however, we left kind of bored with the menu as it hasn't really changed much in the least year. Will plan to go back again in warmer weather and hope to see a more exciting menu. Otherwise, it might be our last visit.
First time trying their Brunch menu. The pick three option was a great value and delicious!
Wonderful first time experience! The food and drinks were amazing! This will be our new go to spot!
This is an extremely well run restaurant with top notch food. You will not be disappointed. The Sunday Brunch $26 deal is a great value. The service is attentive without being overbearing. I strongly recommend. When the weather permits sit out at the tables by the creek.
The menu offered a variety of items that did interest me. The bartender prepared a really good LI iced tea. The lamb was wonderful.
Food was yummy and service was great!!
LOVE Wine Kitchen! The food and drinks are always top notch. Can’t wait to go back... again!
I loved the food, very tasty and beautifully presented. Wine very good too. My only thing about this restaurant is that it is pricey.
