Great hospitality, cocktails
Really nice outdoor seating area. We arrived planning to eat dinner and have some wine. However after sitting there for more than 40 minutes we had only been offered wine and we decided to pay our check and walk to our favorite restaurant downtown, Firestone’s, and eat dinner there. The food is much better at Firestone’s and the service always reliable unlike the wine kitchen.
I have been to wine kitchen several times. On this visit, the food wasn’t as good as in the past. It was kind of disappointing. The waitress and drinks were amazing.
The food is outstanding and the wine fabulous. The service is excellent and we can’t wait to return. We live close to 2 hours away so we have to plan an occasion to coincide but it is well worth the effort.
The food was awesome as always, but the bar service is very slow. Our food came before the wine we ordered again!
We were thoroughly delighted with our experience at the Wine Kitchen. The restaurant even satisfied our San Francisco visitors, which is high praise!
The manager brought complimentary glasses of champagne to honor our Anniversary. Very classy.
I had the best burger and drink at The Wine Kitchen!
The flexibility of the staff as our guest list grew, the variety of appetizer, entree and dessert items, the wine and wine cards and the incredible service are all amazing. It is our go to place for almost anything!
Great meal and great service. The Chief is very creative and accommodating. Each course at the Wine Kitchen is done exquisitely.
It's very loud. Not great for a date night.
Pear gazpacho with crab was superb.
Tuna tacos were tasty.
Salmon was overcooked.
Pear dessert was super creative, stuffed with dates complemented by goat cheese and honey.
Always love the French press coffee.
Great, very creative cuisine and outstanding staff. We dined outside and and it couldn’t have been nicer.
Great food, excellent service. A bit pricey, but not ridiculous. The spare, modern decor is fine, but lack of sound absorbing elements does create an echo chamber so it is noisier than is necessary, even on less busy nights. Still, the slight drawbacks are completely smashed by some of the best food and service we have experienced in years! Highly recommend.
We had dinner at the WIne Kitchen last night to celebrate our anniversary, and it was amazing!! I made reservations on OpenTable, and it allows you select a special occasion if applicable, so I did. When we got to the restaurant, there was small card for us to wish us a Happy Anniversary, and our waiter brought a small celebratory drink for us to enjoy. Just a little gesture, but we were both very impressed with the attention to detail.
We've been here before, so we knew the food is amazing and their selection of wines and cocktails is always interesting. We had the halibut and the butchers flight of steaks, plus of course a couple of wonderful desserts, and everything was really just perfect. Our waiter was very easy going and clearly knowledgeable about the menus (we had a hard time narrowing down our selections!).
Thank you to the Wine Kitchen for an amazing, relaxed dinner. I promise we will be back!
Wonderful place for many occasions but we love having brunch here, especially at a shaded outside table overlooking Carroll Creek. So enjoyable.
It was not our best experience- a series of unfortunate events:
The host greeted us immediately but made us wait 25-30 mins to be seated w/a reservation. There were few empty prepped tables. At first we didn’t get too upset bc it was a bit busy and believed she was getting us ready. Well that didn’t happen. When we got seated it was at one of those empty tables we watched: it wasn’t touched since we arrived - so of course you can understand how upset we felt after bc that was unnecessary and uncalled for.
My spouse was starving and unwell/injured to begin with. Then the manager accidentally elbows my spouse in the head while he was talking to the table behind him. Of course a sorry was said & we get it was unintentional, but it doesn’t take the salt off the wound.
And worse yet, my spouse’s wagu steak was served raw! RAW (order was for medium)! The waiter was apologetic and was in disbelief. The manager attempted to “make up” for it by bringing ahi tuna when all spouse wanted was to leave - that was not well thought out bc ahi tuna is raw. Literally a second ago the complaint was your customer doesn’t eat raw food ... we were astounded. I didn’t have a problem with ahi tacos bc I eat sushi where he doesn’t. So after a back and forth we kept it and I ate it while my spouse continued to starve - imagine my guilt. Another steak was brought out cooked later, but it wasn’t the same steak. Not sure what they served as a replacement.
The manager attempted, but wasn’t listening. He downplay the raw steak making it seem like a preference issue & made unwanted solutions. Although he apologized, i can tell he was annoyed his offers were rejected but he continued anyways. He should’ve discounted our bill or offer credit for next time- but that isn’t occur.
Only good thing was my filet was perfect! I had no personal complaint regarding my food. And at least manager didn’t charge us for the raw steak/tacos.
It is unfortunate, the wine kitchen is one of our favorite restaurants. We asked the waiter if there was a change to cooking staff or chef. The food is usually outstanding and both and my wife and did not complete our meals where we usually finish desiring more as we leave. Not to say we won't give our restaurant another opportunity but last night was disappointing.
Great food and great service! I would definitely come back!
Wine Kitchen is my go to restaurant in FREDERICK. Always great
Been going here for years. The Wine Kitchen is a great treat for a special occasion or a night out. Great wine with quirky descriptions, and delicious food.
The service was a bit slow for a place that wasn't fully occupied. Maybe half of the dining room was full. And they were out of entrees and ingredients for beverages on a Sunday mid-afternoon. First they didn't have all the ingredients for the Island Punch drinks. Then after the waiter placed our order, he came back to tell us that the rib tips weren't available. Not sure if I will be back if this is the standard. Also, the ambiance is a bit plain. We sat in a larger booth in the back and didn't feel cozy or inviting - would be great if they added some artwork and/or colored cushioning to that area. The starter portions are really small and doesn't cater for a large group (we were a group of 8) so will have to order several of the same item to accommodate. Other than that the food was really good, especially the mac and cheese, sirloin steak and lamb. I would also recommend sitting out on the patio as it has an excellent view of the creek.
We went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the outdoor seating along the water. Our waiter was only somewhat attentive. The food was very good, but the portion size was small and overpriced.
We always look forward to dining at the Wine Kitchen when we visit Frederick.
Sit on the Patio and had Brunch and totally enjoyed the food and view. After we finished we went for a walk and return for a glass of wine and desert.
Host and waitstaff were exceptional. We prefer the lunch menu over ht brunch menu.
Amazing experience as usual but out waiter was actually one of the best! Such a great guy! Made the date.
The Best Restaurant in Frederick Maryland, always excellent !!!!!!!!
Wonderful service and delicious meal! We will definitely go back to Wine Kitchen:)
After reading the reviews, there were more great reviews than not so great, so we decided to try it. The restaurant was really loud. I don’t think thats what we expected. We were celebrating our 32nd anniversary and even though we marked that it was an anniversary celebration, I think they missed it. They sat us in the middle of the restaurant. I did ask to be moved and told the hostess why and she was very accommodating and we were given special drinks and a card. We must have chosen the wrong menu items. We have fried green tomatoes. They were flavorless. Very crunchy—but nothing to “wow” you. My husband ordered scallops and my heart was set on beef short ribs. They had run out. I finally settled for what I was told was an awesome burger. It looked fancy but again flavorless and the scallops were fishy. I think we must have ordered the wrong items. Patrons seemed really happy. I wish I knew what they ordered. Maybe next time. BTW - our waiter was great!
The food and wine selection was great, service was very good, although the bar service was extremely slow. Could be because they were pretty busy but the timeliness of the wine pairings was off and it seemed like it took an extra long time for the drinks to actually come out.
Our waitress was fantastic, the drinks delicious and the food was fabulous. It was a beautiful night so we ate outside, and with the exception of some shenanigans on the waterway sidewalk, it was a great experience.
Great place to relax and sample wines you would not have normally tried. Food is very good too...
Helpful, knowledgeable waiter. I hate vegetables but loved the ones you served, purple carrots, sunchokes, delightful. We sat at an outside table so can't really judge inside ambiance and noise.
I used to love the Wine Kitchen, but have been disappointed past few visits. The wine is always good, but the vegetarian entrees have not been good (especially for the price).
The service was glacially slow, we were 3 feet from the next diners, and it was very loud. The food was no better than okay.
Good food and nice atmosphere...would definitely go back. Dessert was AMAZING!!!
Best seats in the house are in the wine room--quieter, better for conversation--though the entire restaurant is worth the visit.
An absolute diamond. This was awesome. There was a concert doing sound checks but the music was pretty good :-). I highly recommend this spot
This is one of my favorite places. The atmosphere is swanky with a cool vibe. The waiter was kind to change my reservation when my other party was late. This is one of the best places in Frederick.
