The food was great, I had a great time, service was amazing as well. The Halibut way very good.
This my first review and not something that I often do. That being said, the experience was very poor. My wife and I decided to try the Wine Kitchen for our first anniversary. We were sat at a table where there were dead flies on the window sill which greatly detracted from the beautiful view of the creek. I ordered a 45 dollar steak medium rare. It came out completely cooked through and looking well done. Also for the price I would have expected a thicker cut ad it would have been better to go to a chain like Mortons. The manager and server were very good in trying to make up for the mistake, but overall I thought the food did not meet the price point. There seemed to be a theme of overcomplicating dishes, for instance the Cobb salad. It looks good, but the taste was very lacking. In summary it was a disappointing first anniversary with average food at a high price point. Again, I would like to reiterate that the staff was very gracious and accommodating.
Fantastic evening out in Frederick with friends. The outdoor patio was amazing and very enjoyable. You can bring your dog so that was an added plus. The service was so perfect and the food well prepared.
As usual, another great visit to the Wine Kitchen. Excellent food. Very courteous service. I think being out on the creek slows the service down a bit but the logistics of that have to be tough for the staff. Certainly not anything that would make us shy away. We will be back again soon!!
Cousins coming together with the wives. We were able to get a patio table instead of the inside reservation on a perfect evening by the creek. The variety of the drinks was evident and the dishes were delicious. The pace of the meal was appropriate and the knowledge of the server was on point.
The food was excellent. My husband and I both had beef. It was cooked perfectly. I don't drink alcohol and the bartender made me a yummy mocktail. The service was wonderful. Attentive but not obtrusive. It was expensive but we celebrated our anniversary so it was worth it.
We had a nice dinner and our server was outstanding. That said, the prices are too high for what you get (food-wise).
We sat outside by the creek. Nice view. Service was outstanding!! Very friendly and on top of everything. Had an issue with a steak not cooked to the right temp. They took care of it right away! Manager even comped the steak even though I told them not to. Wonderful experience all around.
Ingredients were very fresh but portions are small for the price. Service was hella slow. Food took 45min for lunch and the place wasn’t even crowded.
Everything here was perfect! I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling near this area. The food, the waterfront, the beverages, and the service was amazing!
Octopus salad was tough but overall the food and service was wonderful.
Great meats! Love the steaks options! This time tried Wagyu for the first and it had me yearning for more! Delicious creamy mash potatoes and beans were al dente. Went with the sparkling bubbly flight, which i enjoyed. Service was a little confusing and slower than normal, and was slightly perturbed that a family that sat down 10-15 mins after us was served before us. But our Waitress was nice and friendly. Must admit, noticed in the last few visits, there is this one gentleman employee that sends off a subtle and discreet uneasy and off-putting feeling of being unwelcomed, unclear why/how, and no egregious actions by any means. Regardless, will be back soon, Wine Kitchen is one of the faves!
WK never disappoints, $27 for 3 item brunch is a great value!
Multiple large parties like ours comfortably accommodated, but we get stuffed into a table next to the bathrooms. Asked for a beverage, didn’t get it at first and was then openly challenged I never ordered it (the whole table heard me and the waitress repeated the order aloud). Disappointed for my Wife’s Birthday party.
Very tasteful...and I am picky about good food!
Very nice location on the creek with a beautiful view for eating outdoors.
The food was so delicious! The wine comes with a cute little card that creatively describes it's flavors and notes. We were celebrating my roommate's birthday and they had a sweet note celebrating with us. Will definitely be back!
We brought an out of town guest to the Wine Kitchen for lunch and were treated like royalty. The Chef sent out a complimentary cheese and charcuterie board, which was delicious as always. I had their lunch special, which was the swordfish, and it was simply amazing. Our friend had the mushroom strudel and loved it as well. We come here a lot, for good reason, and we're never let down. Keep up the good work, you have a great restaurant that Frederick can really be proud of. Oh, and thank you for the taste of Muscadet, it completely changed my opinion of Muscadet and I'm looking forward to getting a glass next time we're in!
Anniversary lunch. Ate outside, which was lovely. Aloha drink, with burnt orange peel in it, was perfect for a warm June day. Took a while to get our food, but it was delicious and high quality. Which always makes it worth waiting for.
We were sat next to an intoxicated couple when there were plenty of other tables available, it was awkward for us and them. It just would have made common sense not to put three old friends just wanting to catch up, in a corner, next to two intoxicated love birds!
Exceptional food, wine and service. The squash filet was outstanding.
It was our fourth time here and really, everything was so delicious. Service is prompt, unobtrusive, and knowledgeable. Food is innovative but not pretentious and most importantly, it tastes great.
This particular reservation was scheduled because we had brought a friend from out of town to share one of our favorite restaurants. Our reservations were for 5:30pm. We arrived at 5:15pm and were immediately seated. Our whole experience was delayed from the beginning. We had multiple servers that never introduced themselves, a few almost inexperienced and felt as though they were filling in. It took 25min before we received our drinks. I can go into great detail and itemize each part that wasn’t a pleasant one. However, overall our dinner ended up finishing not by our choice at 8:30pm (obviously due to the delayed service) It took over 1 1/2 hours before we received our entrees. We weren’t going to share this personally because we didn’t want to take any more time from our company, however as a business owner myself it’s important to share this feedback. Our bill was over $350.00 not including tip. So, it was significant. As we left one of the nice ladies at the front asked about our experience, we briefly shared and she did offer a $75.00 gift card to accommodate this bad experience.
The Wine Kitchen never disappoints. Our server was knowledgeable about the entrees and wine selection. She was attentive without being pushy. The food is flavorful and atmosphere laid back and causal. I have been here many times and will be back.
Got home and had a dunning notice from open table for missing our reservation. Check #65. They were busy, perhaps too busy? Keep your checkstubs.
Perfect night to sit outside and enjoy best burger ever.
Our server Tom was excellent! Food and wine were outstanding! Noise level was very loud but we still thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Was very pleased with the timing of the food courses considering the restaurant was very busy.
Absolutely wonderful. Our waiter was beyond all expectations! The food combined with his expertise and recommendations made this anniversary dinner so fantastic. We will be going again and I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!
We love The Wine Kitchen! The food is excellent - I had olives and wine while waiting, fried green tomatoes, and trout - all excellent. We sat outside during the Arts Festival in Frederick - excellent day for enjoying wonderful food, wine and ambiance!
The Wine Kitchen is one of our favorite restaurants, not just in the area, but across the world. We live in Frederick County, and travel extensively, and honestly, it's hard to find too many restaurants in this price range anywhere that can match up to the Wine Kitchen. The service is consistently excellent, and the food is almost always spot on. I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 on the food this time because our Wagyu selection (which was still delicious) was over-cooked a little bit and had a touch too much salt. I'm also very particular about my steaks, which is another reason we love coming to this restaurant; their steaks are locally sourced, dry-aged, and mouth-watering delicious. The wine list is thoughtful, approachable, and has something for everyone without needing deliverance via a cumbersome book that requires one to spend 15 minutes reading through it to find a suitable wine . This time our server was Haydon, and he was able to suggest a perfect red to accompany our lunch entrees - I think it was a California Zinfandel. Do yourself a favor when you're in town, and stop in at the Wine Kitchen for lunch or dinner. And if you can sit on the patio, it's hard to beat, anywhere.
Good food, goofy server. She didn't know Muscadet was on the wine list, and couldn't find the whiskey my friend ordered, so he got something else. End of the meal, she didn't know what Armagnac was, could not find. It may be on barkeep. There were other glitches. I ordered my burger medium well, it came medium rare, big pink inside. It's an ego thing for chefs. The customer is not always right. Chefs know how it should be cooked, and do it their way, rather than how the paying customer wants it.
Everything we ordered here was superb. We both were delighted with our cocktails. The fried green tomatoes were the best I've ever had. The filet mignon was incredibly tender and delicious. My husband, who is not vegetarian, ordered the butternut squash steak with trumpet mushrooms, and was very happy with it. He also thoroughly enjoyed his pappardelle. The wine we chose paired perfectly with all of our dishes. The dessert special, cherry rhubarb hand pie with goat cheese ice cream, was scrumptious. Service was professional and gracious. The view of the creek is the cherry on top.
Once again a great brunch at WK on the Creek. I had the deconstructed cob salad, tuna tartare tacos and the pastrami Benedict, all superbly prepared. My wife had the fried green tomatoes and the quiche of the day, again superb! We also enjoyed a bottle of 2014 Maldonado Chardonnay. Unbelievable! The staff is so attentive, not overly, but just right, they are always there when you need them. A few weeks ago we went to their new place, Maxwell’s, just a block or so away, totally different but equally as good. These people know how to do food right with great personal service. My complements to the chefs and staff!
We were there for my birthday and had to change our reservation as we were stuck in traffic. They readily accommodated us even had a card for me on the table for my bday.
I would recommend The Wine Kitchen based on past visits but this experience was disappointing.
Best patio dining in town. Right along Carroll Creek, and you're guaranteed to have fantastic service from one of the best restaurants in Frederick. Beautiful flowering umbrellas!
My wife and I dined for the 3rd time in a few months. Wine selection is nice, food is fantastic, but unfortunately, the service continues to drop off. After sitting at our table for 10 minutes our server approached and said "Are you ready to order?" No introduction, no welcome to the restaurant, no specials explained. Waits between courses were considerably long, we had to tell our server to basically take our order. If you want to enjoy some items, your bill can grow quickly, I feel the service should fall in line with that. We will be back, but sadly it will be to eat at the bar and not at a table.
The Wine Kitchen was fabulous. Appetizers came out quickly, food was fresh, drinks were paired well.
Server (Tom) failed to take two different guests orders for two different courses. Restaurant was so loud, no one could hear each other. Food was outstanding but don’t plan to return any time soon.
Very nice place. Food was delicious. The only thing I would change is when we made reservations we specified we wanted to sit outside. It doesn’t say anywhere that reservations for outside are first come first serve. We walked in with another couple n heard the door and let them in first. They asked for outside seating. There was on table left. The host said let me clear the table and I will be right back. I stepped outside with him and told he we had a 5:15 reservation ( time was 5:05) and specified on our reservations we requested an outside table. I think a reservation should take preference over a walk-in. He explained that outside seating is first come first serve. He saw us hold the door open for these folks. He said “would you like to wait for an outside table or we would gladly seat you inside, outside maybe an hour wait. ROLLING MY EYES, REALLY! sigh. We decided to wait (because I knew I would right a review and we loved the food there) we were seated in 20 min.
And heres the review....
