Been going here for years. The Wine Kitchen is a great treat for a special occasion or a night out. Great wine with quirky descriptions, and delicious food.
The service was a bit slow for a place that wasn't fully occupied. Maybe half of the dining room was full. And they were out of entrees and ingredients for beverages on a Sunday mid-afternoon. First they didn't have all the ingredients for the Island Punch drinks. Then after the waiter placed our order, he came back to tell us that the rib tips weren't available. Not sure if I will be back if this is the standard. Also, the ambiance is a bit plain. We sat in a larger booth in the back and didn't feel cozy or inviting - would be great if they added some artwork and/or colored cushioning to that area. The starter portions are really small and doesn't cater for a large group (we were a group of 8) so will have to order several of the same item to accommodate. Other than that the food was really good, especially the mac and cheese, sirloin steak and lamb. I would also recommend sitting out on the patio as it has an excellent view of the creek.
We always look forward to dining at the Wine Kitchen when we visit Frederick.
Sit on the Patio and had Brunch and totally enjoyed the food and view. After we finished we went for a walk and return for a glass of wine and desert.
Host and waitstaff were exceptional. We prefer the lunch menu over ht brunch menu.
Amazing experience as usual but out waiter was actually one of the best! Such a great guy! Made the date.
The Best Restaurant in Frederick Maryland, always excellent !!!!!!!!
Wonderful service and delicious meal! We will definitely go back to Wine Kitchen:)
After reading the reviews, there were more great reviews than not so great, so we decided to try it. The restaurant was really loud. I don’t think thats what we expected. We were celebrating our 32nd anniversary and even though we marked that it was an anniversary celebration, I think they missed it. They sat us in the middle of the restaurant. I did ask to be moved and told the hostess why and she was very accommodating and we were given special drinks and a card. We must have chosen the wrong menu items. We have fried green tomatoes. They were flavorless. Very crunchy—but nothing to “wow” you. My husband ordered scallops and my heart was set on beef short ribs. They had run out. I finally settled for what I was told was an awesome burger. It looked fancy but again flavorless and the scallops were fishy. I think we must have ordered the wrong items. Patrons seemed really happy. I wish I knew what they ordered. Maybe next time. BTW - our waiter was great!
Our waitress was fantastic, the drinks delicious and the food was fabulous. It was a beautiful night so we ate outside, and with the exception of some shenanigans on the waterway sidewalk, it was a great experience.
Great place to relax and sample wines you would not have normally tried. Food is very good too...
Helpful, knowledgeable waiter. I hate vegetables but loved the ones you served, purple carrots, sunchokes, delightful. We sat at an outside table so can't really judge inside ambiance and noise.
I used to love the Wine Kitchen, but have been disappointed past few visits. The wine is always good, but the vegetarian entrees have not been good (especially for the price).
The service was glacially slow, we were 3 feet from the next diners, and it was very loud. The food was no better than okay.
Good food and nice atmosphere...would definitely go back. Dessert was AMAZING!!!
Best seats in the house are in the wine room--quieter, better for conversation--though the entire restaurant is worth the visit.
An absolute diamond. This was awesome. There was a concert doing sound checks but the music was pretty good :-). I highly recommend this spot
This is one of my favorite places. The atmosphere is swanky with a cool vibe. The waiter was kind to change my reservation when my other party was late. This is one of the best places in Frederick.
The food was excellent. Went on a weekday and it wasn’t that busy so it was quiet. Entree portions were a little smaller than I’d hoped, so order an appetizer to split and you’ll still have room for dessert.
We were celebrating an anniversary and a birthday. wait staff was attentive, but not overly so. Knowledgeable on the menu and wine selections. Recommendations were spot on. Lovely evening with friends.
We went there for our anniversary and was greeted with an anniversary card and a glass of champagne!
We were visiting Frederick and stopped in for Sunday Brunch. We were able to get a table outside near the creek. The server provided suggestions and was attentive throughout. The manager stopped by to check on us during the meal. The wine flights are a neat idea if you want to sample a few different choices. All our food was very good and presented nicely. Highly recommend the cornmeal pancake appetizer. The pastrami on the Benedict was some of the leanest and most flavorful I've had.
Not happy with the service (once we ordered wine and said we would wait for food, he ignored us), and once the food arrived, it wasn’t even that good.
Our waiter Zach, was Great! Very friendly & knowledgeable. Look forward to returning soon...
Delicious! Unique food pairings and great service.
Like we always expected it, great and food top of the line
Appreciated the special touch for our anniversary. Food, drinks, and service was amazing!
Loved the al fresco dining overlooking Carroll Creek, quite beautiful. All food was prepared and plated to the highest standards. I've eaten both lunch and dinner here- for lunch or dinner I highly recommend the beet carpaccio starter- it is both beautiful and tasty with lots of little surprises in each bite. For dinner, I ordered a halibut which can be dry but this was cooked perfectly, moist and delicious, my companion ordered the scallops which were equally delicious. The restaurant is unique in serving lots of different flights of wine and spirits which any offered can also be ordered by the glass. As a couple wjo regularly orders wines, we found the individual by the glass prices to be quite high even for a fine dining restaurant. A glass of non vintage rose (only one choice on the menu) $16.50, other wines ranged $8 - $22 . Spirits prices slightly higher. They do not have a full bar so selections are limited to what is on the menu.
A great find in Frederick- food was delicious, wine choices were terrific. Service was very good. We will be back again soon.
Twas my wife’s birthday. We always come to the wine kitchen for special occasions because we know we’re going to get the best service and the absolute best meal in town.
Had lunch at the W-Kitchen on a Friday such a wonderful outside dining venue. Had to call wife and trill “Date Night”. Romantic dinner, beautiful sunset, attentive service and, as usual, great grub and grog. Hats of to Chef Jeff and the W-K crew. Thanks
Everything was great... didn’t have a single bad experience there.
What a special place! Our go to when we visit Frederick. Tried a new chicken dish recently added to the menu. It was great!
Met a friend there to celebrate her birthday. Sat outside- it was a perfect day! Our server, Tom, was perfect- there when needed, added suggestions, professional yet friendly. Food was a bit salty. We all enjoyed the lunch ‘deal.’ It was a great experience.
Food was very good and fancy but service was only fair. We were not provided appetizer plates and twice got up ourselves and retrieved our own plates. The server did not take our order until well after we finished our appetizers and only after we had to request for his return to our table. So, we waited a while for our food. The ambiance was great however. We never had a manager come by to ask us about our experience like at other restaurants.
Food was above average, value was good, sitting outside and getting a solid meal is a difficult task in Frederick so a big win there.
My favorite restaurant in Frederick . Awesome, friendly staff, great ambience, THE BEST BURGER!, and always a nice time out.
Great place, our server was so kind and respectful . And then the food. And the drinks. Overall great
My wife and I had five friends in from all over the USA and took them to the Wine kitchen for brunch before they had to catch their planes home.
We advised our waiter, Justin of the time restraints we would have, and he went out of his way to make sure the service was impeccable, including making sure that one of our guests who had a dietary restriction, was completely aware of those items on the menu that she could enjoy.
My wife and I have been coming to the Wine kitchen since we moved to this area six years ago, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice meal, and a great atmosphere with impeccable service. Again, thanks to Justin for making this a wonderful dining experience for my wife and I and our friends.
The food was delicious and the service was great! I made reservations for my sister’s bachelorette party and everyone was very happy with our time at The Wine Kitchen.
