Excellent food and service. This is our “go to” place in Frederick. Never disappoints!
I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday at the Wine Kitchen as I do ever year. We usually eat outside but it was so beastly hot that we definitely chose to sit indoors. Unfortunately, this meant it was very loud and we had a hard time hearing our waitress and each other. Not sure what can be done about the noise level but the restaurant should look into find some way to absorb the sound better.
Also, I must say that the elimination of the fabulous beet salad that was a staple for so long was a terrible decision. I shared my displeasure with the waitress and another woman (perhaps a manager) who stopped by our table so hopefully this message will get to the chef. The new beet salad is good but simply can not compare to the old one. BRING IT BACK!!!!
Otherwise, I delightful and delicious dinner with top service. This is why I come back every year for my birthday. Hopefully next year the weather will cooperate and we can sit outside.
The food was alright, the service wasn't great (they were not busy), but mostly the wine was way overpriced for everyday wine.
What a great way to spend a birthday night out. My wife and I enjoyed our date night thanks to the wonderful efforts of the WK. Keep up the good work!
We do all special occasions here because they go out of their way to make you feel special!!! My husband arrived to dinner for his birthday with a card from the chef and staff! Thank you Wine Kitchen staff for always going above and beyond!
Food was very good , great Anniversary dinner
Great restaurant Always a pleasure to eat there
I've been here many times and the food and service is always impeccable.
We had made a reservation and our table was in plain sight of the kitchen. We ordered mussels as a shared appetizer and the service team never brought any side plates - so we had to request them. Our server was not very attentive to any of our needs. Now onto the food.... we found all of the food over seasoned with salt. The mussels were cooked in a Thai Coconut Lime broth with lemongrass and the lemongrass was chopped up and mixed into the broth. If you have ever tried to eat lemongrass you know that we were constantly removing woody stalks from our mouth because they were completely inedible. Dessert selection was minimal to a point where we simply passed on dessert. Overall, don’t think we will be returning to this restaurant any time soon.
We were seated promptly outside. Had to wait about five minutes before a server approached us. Ordered cocktails and an appetizer. The cocktails arrived after we finished our appetizer. Ordered glasses of wine with our entree and they arrived after being served our entrees. The food was delicious.
There was a major negative. When we checked in to the hostess stand, we were given an envelope containing a note from management congratulating us on our anniversary which we found strange as we didn’t mention that it was our anniversary. The next day, my sister-in-law texted asking us how we liked the bottle of wine she had ordered and paid for. We told her we didn’t get wine and she should call. It turns out they gave our bottle to another couple. They did refund her money and apologized but the damage was done. This was on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was not very busy. I don’t understand how a mistake like this could have happened.
Loved everything about it! The food was fantastic, the waiter was very friendly, the ambience is beautiful. Will definitely come back for future celebrations!
Best brunch in town! Food and service are always excellent, and we love the flowering canopies over the tables on the patio. If you haven't been to Wine Kitchen for brunch and taken advantage of their 3 items (including bloody marys) for $27 you're been missing out!
I really enjoy the wine Kitchen. Service is always great and the food is excellent. Some items are a little small on portuon for price and others are large for price. I would recommend for dinner or special occossions.
Our party of eight had a spacious booth in the back of the restaurant, very private. Server Dave handled our many requests cheerfully. The starters and steaks were excellent, with a great selection of wines, beers and aperitifs for dessert. The Wine Kitchen always gets 5 Stars from me!
The luncheon prix fixe menu is nicely structured to allow ordering exactly what you want and still benefiting from the discount built into the fixed menu. Portions were appropriate for lunch. Many interesting wine flights, but we could only try a few. If I were going to spend two hours there for lunch, multiple flights would have been very tempting.
We went to celebrate my birthday and everything was amazing. The oysters were a great surprise as we hand't had them there before and they were delicious! The Halibut and Filets were both cooked perfectly. The cocktails were wonderful - highly recommend the Frederick Mule to anyone who hasn't tried it (Bonus points for it being pink)! The sparkling wine flight also makes an excellent dessert. All around the food and experience were perfect.
Laura is amazing. She made sure we had everything we needed. The entire wait staff at the WK are so friendly and efficient. Sunday brunch was worth the drive from DC
Service was fabulous. The food is delicious. I’d order the sea biscuit if I were you. And if weather permits you should sit outside. It’s gorgeous! We stayed at brunch for ever, never felt rushed and we were well taken care of the entire time. Favorite brunch spot in Frederick!!
We can always count on the Wine Kitchen as our go to place when we have out of town guests. The food and service is consistently fantastic, and we can come as we are and get excellence without any stuffy pretentiousness that you might find with places that have the quality of food and level of service of fine dining. At the Wine Kitchen, you can go casual and receive exceptional everything. And if it's nice? Ask for the patio, it's a beautiful setting.
The Wine Kitchen and its staff are excellent, a first class organization, with the best menu in Frederick and the surround area. The service is always exceptional!
The entrees were salty but not bad enuf to send back. The spicey aioli overpowered the fried green tomatoes and had too much breading.
noisy table of 4 when we arrived,. Noise was appropriate after they left.
Loved all the wine and would come back for their afternoon service to sample a flight of wine and an appetizer
Cocktails were exceptional and our waitor Dave was excellent. Food was amazing and cooked to perfection
family BD celebration
Delicious food and drinks. Beet carpaccio was a gorgeous plate of thinly sliced yellow beets with pickled fennel, pine nuts, blackberries and a blackberry-balsamic vinaigrette (omitted the Parmesan because I'm vegan). With a generous bowl of marinated olives and the Barely Legal cocktail made with mezcal, rum, juices and spices, I was thoroughly happy. My friends had the pastrami sandwich and burger; thumbs up. They also enjoyed the Banana Cream "Pie" and Chocolate Peanut Butter pie. Service was good but the poor server was also covering the outdoor terrace so his shirt was completely soaked through with sweat (not a good look outside of a gym). I definitely recommend the Wine Kitchen on the Creek to anyone coming to Frederick, MD.
Good food. Great service. Lovely ambiance. Sat and batted with girlfriends forever. Didn’t feel rushed at all. All he food dishes were a bit salty. Most of did t mind because we like salt, but interesting that we all thought very salty.
We were celebrating a birthday, and they provided a nice hand-written card and a delicious free appetizer of fried green tomatoes. Everything we ordered — oysters on the half-shell, steamed mussels, pork belly, romaine salad — was beautifully presented and mouth-wateringly good.
We loved this restaurant! Ate here two nights in a row!!
The staff was amazing!!
The food was great, I had a great time, service was amazing as well. The Halibut way very good.
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday. The staff had a nice card on the table for him and a candle in the dessert we ordered. I really appreciated all of that - I would highly recommend anytime, but certainly for a special occasion.
Being seated outdoors on the patio was very pleasant and the service was good in a relaxed way. The food was attractively presented and cooked well. The reason I rated it 3 stars rather than 4 was because it wasn't really that tasty. I won't say bland, but the flavors in the halibut dish I got and the monkfish dish my wife got just didn't seem to enhance the dishes overall. Since this was our first visit to The Wine Kitchen, I would marginally recommend it but we'll have to go again and try something different before I could possibly offer a more positive review.
This was my third visit to the Wine Kitchen. The first two occasions were delightful experiences with excellent food and outstanding service. Both took place during busy weekend evenings when the restaurant was "up and running." By contrast, my most recent sampling took place on a quiet Tuesday noon. The best word to describe the food and service is "indifferent." Based on that lacklustre event, I will not be in a hurry to make the 96-mile round-trip from Bethesda anytime soon.
This my first review and not something that I often do. That being said, the experience was very poor. My wife and I decided to try the Wine Kitchen for our first anniversary. We were sat at a table where there were dead flies on the window sill which greatly detracted from the beautiful view of the creek. I ordered a 45 dollar steak medium rare. It came out completely cooked through and looking well done. Also for the price I would have expected a thicker cut ad it would have been better to go to a chain like Mortons. The manager and server were very good in trying to make up for the mistake, but overall I thought the food did not meet the price point. There seemed to be a theme of overcomplicating dishes, for instance the Cobb salad. It looks good, but the taste was very lacking. In summary it was a disappointing first anniversary with average food at a high price point. Again, I would like to reiterate that the staff was very gracious and accommodating.
Fantastic evening out in Frederick with friends. The outdoor patio was amazing and very enjoyable. You can bring your dog so that was an added plus. The service was so perfect and the food well prepared.
As usual, another great visit to the Wine Kitchen. Excellent food. Very courteous service. I think being out on the creek slows the service down a bit but the logistics of that have to be tough for the staff. Certainly not anything that would make us shy away. We will be back again soon!!
Cousins coming together with the wives. We were able to get a patio table instead of the inside reservation on a perfect evening by the creek. The variety of the drinks was evident and the dishes were delicious. The pace of the meal was appropriate and the knowledge of the server was on point.
The food was excellent. My husband and I both had beef. It was cooked perfectly. I don't drink alcohol and the bartender made me a yummy mocktail. The service was wonderful. Attentive but not obtrusive. It was expensive but we celebrated our anniversary so it was worth it.
We had a nice dinner and our server was outstanding. That said, the prices are too high for what you get (food-wise).
We sat outside by the creek. Nice view. Service was outstanding!! Very friendly and on top of everything. Had an issue with a steak not cooked to the right temp. They took care of it right away! Manager even comped the steak even though I told them not to. Wonderful experience all around.
Ingredients were very fresh but portions are small for the price. Service was hella slow. Food took 45min for lunch and the place wasn’t even crowded.
Everything here was perfect! I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling near this area. The food, the waterfront, the beverages, and the service was amazing!
