We arrived at the Windmill for a meal on Friday evening at 8pm. We had booked a table on 'open table' for 8 people. On arrival, we were told that they had no record of our booking but were luckily able to accommodate the group. However, we were then told that we could only order mains and not starters as the kitchen was due to close. Our booking should not have been taken if we weren't able to have a full meal. In addition, the menu offered to us was completely different from the one advertised on this website. There was no explanation given as to why the menu with pizza/pasta etc wasn't available and so we were extremely disappointed. The food that we did have, particularly the mussels, was of low quality. I would not return to this pub.

Unfortunately for these guys the appalling service let it down. We had a booking at 2pm and couldn’t get to the table until 2:20 because people were already on it. Our first waitress disappeared after the start of taking our orders and never came back, then a second waitress eventually took over to sort the orders. The food was heavily delayed coming to the table. Bearing in mind our table was booked for 2pm we didn’t get food until 4:20 At no point did any staff come to us to offer an explanation about what was happening, only after we enquired a waitress came to tell us that the kitchen was heavily delayed because it was busy. It wasn’t handled well and we did not receive any small snack dishes just to keep us going. We had a small child who was hungry and cranky at this point so they gave us his as it was ready. The rest of the meals came out 20mins later and you could tell some of them had sat on a hot plate for ages because of the dried gravy around the edges. Apart from this the food was lovely. It’s a massive shame that the terrible service and appalling organisation between the kitchen and service staff ruined this day out for us all. Would not recommended after this experience. Also just to add we were given a free drink each for the trouble. Not really much considering how terrible the service was

We booked a table and arrived to be told that the pub does not serve lunches on Tuesdays; we commend the service, the lady was very courteous.

We went on a very quiet weekday lunchtime. When we arrived we found that the menu was very limited - there was not really any of the food that was on the menu on the pub's website so that wasn't a great start. There was only one member of bar staff working who was doing her best, but we had to wait 15 minutes for the drinks we'd ordered and over 45 minutes for our food. When the food eventually came, two dishes were missing. We did get a free drink by means of apology, and the member of staff was very apologetic, but I won't be returning in a hurry!

We ate dinner first, one evening with the off chance that my international guests could sample England's fish and chips. We instantly decided to and ate the amazing food from the menu. Italien tapas, mussels that were cooked to perfection and great beer. I had already arranged to meet some friends (10 people) there on the Sunday as well for a roast, with very high expectations, which were more than exceeded! I grew up in Brighton and it is hands down, one of the best Sunday roasts I've had. We had a 9 month old with us both times and were a large booking the 2nd both time with a large booking.

The pub really over delivered with the hospitality, your staff were amazing. I suggest that they get a raise (even for putting up with our humor) We all tip our hats to the Chef, each tapas selection was delightful. However the pizza bombs did not meet the same high standards as the other items on the menu. We will look to book again for other "Team Nights" and sharing our experience with our other 700 colleagues who work just around the corner from yourselves.
