Amazing amazing amazing. Everything was perfect
Great for a birthday treat. Had a blast with my mom and sis.
We came here to celebrate my cousins birthday. Everything was amazing. Our server was patient and polite. Our food was delicious. We had a great time.
I don't like menus that force me to get more courses than I would typically. Appetizer (or salad) and main course is all I usually eat. Only option was 4-course meal, including desert which I never order.
Dinner at the Whitney was memorable for the atmosphere and attentive service. We were personally greeted by name and my husband had a printed menu that read “Happy Birthday”. A tour was a highlight. I had what was probably the best cocktail I’ve ever had
Just an absolutely sublime place to eat - interior is a 120+ year old mansion. Took a tour afterwards (thanks Jim!) and had a nightcap at the Ghost Bar. Due to COVID seating, the restaurant was less than half full and very quiet - we were the only ones at the Ghost bar! YMMV... dress to impress. Official attire is (at least) business casual, however; if gentlemen at least wear a suite jacket (tie optional) and ladies wear a dress and you won't feel out of place.
Absolutely wonderful experience all around. The whole building is stunning, the tea service was fantastic, and totally worth it. We went to celebrate a birthday, and it was so wonderful! Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun and unique experience.
Our experience was wonderful! Went for my Parents’ 45th Anniversary and they were treated so well! Food was top notch and our server, Marvin, was so attentive, informative, and pleasant!
We were celebrating my wide's birthday. Everything was wonderful.
Great meal, worth every penny! The service was a little slow but was okay as that gave you more time to enjoy the ambiance. All staff were very friendly and helpful as well.
Great food and service
Service was nice. Beef Wellington overdone / overpriced. Swordfish very good. Wine food. Overall ok but not worth the $
Service was great along with the food it was A-1, will be back again.
Great food, great service, astonishing mansion. An unforgettable experience. The best restaurant experience that we've had in the US.
This is a beautiful and romantic setting. The staff are absolutely wonderful. We also enjoyed the tour after our dinner. We were, however, disappointed in the food. We came here specifically for the Beef Wellington. We were served the smallest Beef Wellington I have ever seen, and we've had it on airplanes (KLM). We ordered medium rare. There was no hint of red or pink. After having eaten at Mint 29 two days earlier where the food was outstanding, I have to say we were disappointed in our last meal of the week while visiting Dearborn/Detroit. I would recommend The Whitney, but not the Beef Wellington.
The Whitney staff were exceptionally excellent! We celebrated our 30th Anniversary and everyone made it fabulous. A day to remember! So thankful for all who where involved.
I went with two friends to the Mansion Tea Service and we were incredibly impressed. The food was more than filling, the tea was delicious and the staff was also incredibly welcoming and kind. Additionally, they had a fantastic pianist that was a nice backdrop to the event. We showed up early and were able to tour the mansion and overall it was a spectacular experience. I will definitely be going back.
The perfect answer to a beautiful ,sweet girl on her 19th birthday! We had an amazing afternoon celebrating my Stella and this beautiful mansion. The food, atmosphere, service and of course the tea were perfect! The pianist even played Happy Birthday!!
A wonderful experience!! Great ambiance, the food was wonderful and the waitress was outstanding!! Highly recommended!!!
Love this place. Excellent food, piano music and great service.
Beautiful building with a fantastic dinner. Had such a wonderful evening.
First class! Amazing food and amazing service! Wonderful piano player!! The best restaurant and dining experience in Detroit!!!!!!!!
It’s a setting that every lady should experience, to enjoy some great tea, great food and great conversation.
Very good food, excellent service. Free tour of the mansion with dinner was fun
WOW! The Whitney has the wow factor. You are getting amazing food, amazing service, and an amazing atmosphere at The Whitney. Thinking about coming? Stop thinking and book that reservation today!
The Whitney didn't disappoint. The venue is beautiful. We had a drink in the garden and listened to music before dinner. We ate in the study and it was quiet and a great location. The menu was smaller than pre-covid and were surprised it was a fixed menu with 4 courses. However, the food was outstanding. The butterfish special had great flavor and we also had the beef wellington. The appetizers and salads were great as well. The prices were a bit high but worth a special occassion.
The food, staff, and ambiance of the building, grounds, and overall area were absolutely amazing. The friendliness and hospitality of the staff truly made our experience beyond anything we could have imagined. There is no question that my family and I will continue to celebrate our anniversary and other family events at The Whitney.
Great overall experience in a very unique and historical spot
Provided the perfect setting for our 30th wedding anniversary.
Our anniversary dinner
Our server was excellent
Food was good
Whitney is a special place, lots of history
We enjoy coming here for special occasions
Beautiful and elegant. Food was excellent, delicious, hot and cooked perfectly. Impeccable service!! Highly recommend.
We were there for Tea service and it was wonderful. The staff made it very special.
Everything about this High Tea at the Whitney was excellent and memorable! Great place for Mother and Daughter to celebrate their birthdays!
Great service. I don’t recommend adding the vanilla butter lobster tail. Everything else great!
It was more about the history behind the home and the owner of the home. The food was overly priced and not the best I’ve ever had for a close to $200 tab (not including tip). I think it’s a once and a blue moon type of place for me. We were given a tour which was an unexpected surprise, but it became clear that the home is in need of massive repairs. I work in Architecture so certain items stood out to me. The home is decorated in turn of the century Victorian, but this is why people return, the ghost stories, the story of the lumber magnate who builds and decorates his home custom to his desire who is tied to royalty. Crowd seemed older celebrating anniversaries and birthdays.
Great place and great service. A little on the expensive side.
My dining experience last night at the Whitney was arguably the best meal I've had in years. The staff was very accommodating and helpful and the David Whitney mansion was absolutely stunning. This is my first time attending and the food and beverages were phenomenal. I plan to return to the Whitney again in the very near future for a special holiday meal or even just to have a drink at the curious "ghost bar". I like to imagine a century ago David Whitney and Thomas Edison getting drunk on absinthe with Detroit's power brokers and making an absolute mess of the place. I would give the experience overall a 10/10 but did not see any ghosts.
Everything was fantastic. Definitely will be returning
The setting and the food were good. The waiter was excellent, but I do think the overall cost was slightly higher than it should be.
Beautiful seating, kind waiting staff, and the best meal I’ve eaten in my life. Lobster bisque will have you coming back for more, and the filet was so soft and tender I cut it with a butter knife! The lobster was so tender and had a vanilla butter, and boy can you taste it. Went with my mother for a Sunday treat, and we both agreed it’s the best meal we’ve ever been served. Not a single thing to complain about.
