The Whitney is Detroit's most Romantic Restaurant. Housed in a historic 1890s mansion on Woodward Avenue in the heart of Detroit's cultural district. All parties of 7 or more must be booked directly through the restaurant. Private dining rooms are available for a reasonable rental fee. We are currently serving dinner Wednesday - Sunday evenings. The Whitney also serves a luxurious four course Afternoon Tea at 11:00 and 1:30 on Saturday and Sunday (Some weekends excluded by private events or holidays). I was a solo diner and was treated with respect and excellent service. I had a perfect table, expert service by Amanda and a delicious four-course dinner. The live piano music in the gorgeous historical setting was like a dream. Perfection all around!

The overall experience was ideal for our 40th anniversary outing. It was a fine experience and we even did the post meal tour. I was somewhat surprised that the food was only luke warm at best. It was tasty, but given the price point I would have expected a meal that was more individualistic. Well eing flavorful, it presented as something mass produced and perhaps warmed a little before serving.

Celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday. Waiter Stephen was very knowledgeable about the history of the mansion and menu selections! We really enjoyed our meals and had great drinks at the Ghost Bar! It was my boyfriend’s first time at the Whitney and he was definitely impressed.

Overall experience of food was superb. Service had a nice flow of the 4 course meal. The ambiance is extraordinary!! No matter where you sit it's beautiful. The history and architecture is wonderful. Started with Hors d' Oeuvres Trio which are great samplers. Second course I had the Lobster Bisque which is phenomenal, the best lobster bisque I have ever tasted. Third course I had the Chilean Sea Bass which was a little under seasoned but the crab risotto with wilted greens and tomato sauce a nice combination. My wife had the Herb-Roasted Half Chicken is always a classic. 4th course was the dessert, I wish they would have kept the carrot cake but I tried the Lemon Mascarpone Cake which was mouth watering and I wanted more!!! The cake was moist and lemon garnish was perfect. At the end of dinner they offer a tour of the mansion and it's a must see!!

The venue is gorgeous and the history is very interesting. The food was subpar in flavor with the lobster bisque being awful, and the meals were delivered cold because one of the dinners was not ready so they left the other dinners sitting there waiting. It is far too expensive for the meal that we were served and we'll be taking them off the list of places to enjoy. It's too bad because it used to be really good.

Birthday dinner was enjoyable and delicious! This was Whitney's first day open after cleaning hiatus. Pianist was just wonderful. Only complaint is the Spanish coffee I ordered had no whipped cream and was lukewarm. Really enjoyed ourselves. Please do more reasonably priced meals and events. $50+ price for chicken is outrageous.

The food and the food service was phenomenal. If I could rate that part more stars I would. The only imperfection of our recent experience was when we arrived at the scheduled time the front desk told me that they were getting things ready and that we could go wait at the bar. They gave me the impression that someone would notify us when our table was ready. 40 minutes had passed before I went back down to the desk. At that point they sat us immediately. In the future I do recommend a better way to notify us when our table is ready.

My wife and I had a wonderful birthday meal, and our server, Kayleigh was fantastic. She set me up with a gin drink for my birthday, and gave me the largest happy birthday platter I've ever seen with a delightful ice cream sunday on it.

Lovely Afternoon Tea outing with my daughter. The grand staircase is stunning upon entering the door. Service was excellent, and the staff we encountered were friendly and eager to share their knowledge of the Mansion. The service was delightful, although a few menu items were subpar. I'm not sure who thought a heaping pile of double cream and strawberries was the right choice for service; however, it was overwhelming while sipping tea. Our scones were cold and dry and fell apart on the first bite. It felt like mass-produced Sysco foods. Not saying it was horrible, but for $50 a person, the quality was just okay. The exceptional service and history of the Mansion made up for the just-okay food options. The Mansion's interior, especially upstairs, is defiantly showing her age and needs repairs. Overall, it was a good experience, but nothing I would rush back to repeat.

Wonderful birthday celebration. The menu had happy birthday and there name printed on it. The musician played happy birthday and patrons joined in a sing-a-long. They received a sorbet with a candle. Excellent food. Great service. Knowledgeable staff about the history of the mansion. I would come again.

Our entire experience was excellent. The food (our four course dinner menu) was exceptional, especially the black bean soup and beef Wellington. The entire building has so much history- makes for a perfect date night atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
