A little pricey but amazing atmosphere and service. We were very happy with the food. A very special evening out. One of our best restaurant experiences ever! I had read in reviews that it can be a bit noisy so requested a romantic quiet table for my fiancé and I the room they put us in was perfect.

We were visiting the museums in the area and this restaurant came up as lunch option for afternoon tea. Everything was so run down, which could be interpreted as charming to some extend …until you look at the dining ware or the lavatories! I drink a lot of tea and have been to enough tea serving restaurants to realize that tea cups could be stained by the tea but it’s a different story when they still have lipstick from someone else. There were big chunks of dirt on the strawberries, I don’t know how it could be served like that? Also, I don’t know how long ago everything was prepared either because the food was stale and not appealing. We ended up going to Cannelle by Matt Knio up the street afterwards to actually enjoy some decent pastries and tea.

False advertising of menu for thanksgiving. Said in website would have a pescatarian option. No such thing existed. Only gruel looking risotto for vegetarian option. Mother in law said was undercooked. Looked unappetizing. Only Oliver Twist would have asked for more of that dish! Should have had roasted vegetables or something more colorful to add to vegetarian plate.

We had a poor experience for Thanksgiving. Very overpriced for what you get. Our food was luke warm, service slow. Vegetarian option was a small plate of Risotto that was $70. Desert and the appetizer were good. Not impressed overall. Not something you hope to say when dropping $500 on dinner for four.

This was the second year in a row that we went to The Whitney for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately we did not find it as good as last year. There were 4 in our party, two had several small turkey bones & wing tips, not much turkey or generous slicing, pieces of turkey. They did send some additional slices of turkey home, although it seemed to be from a boneless turkey roast. Last year our server provided a bit of history of the room we were dining in & of the mansion. They did not do that unless you took a tour. The service was slower, the server forgot who ordered salad or soup. Noise level seemed louder. The dressed to impress cocktail the first one was delicious, the 2nd one & had it remade & the third one tasted very different & not as good, could not finish the drink & disappointing for $17

Disappointed that the menu only had two selections for dinner. Thought the price for a turkey dinner was way over priced. That was the same price as the Beef Wellington on their regular menu and there is no comparison between the two to warrant the menu price for the turkey dinner!

We decided to treat ourselves on Thanksgiving with dinner at The Whitney. It was a traditional Thanksgiving meal (turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, etc.) and was nicely done. Service was pleasant and professional, and the setting is lovely. Only one small complaint: the dining chairs felt very rickety and need to be repaired or replaced. It’s a minor complaint, however, and did not interfere with a very nice experience.

The dinner was delicious and the desserts outstanding. Our server was knowledgeable and very pleasant. We celebrated Thanksgiving here and will definitely enjoy another special occasion at The Whitney. Thank you for preserving this Detroit gem!

We went to The Whitney for Thanksgiving 2022 and had an extremely underwhelming experience. The appetizers were decent but the main entree was one of the worst meals I've ever had. The turkey was extremely dry, the yams were so undercooked we had to cut them with a knife, and the cranberry sauce was sour enough to make your face pucker. The mashed potatoes were a bland scoop of nothing. Worst of all, the green beans were soggy and clearly frozen green beans from a bag. Charging $80 for a meal and then serving frozen food is unacceptable. We thought maybe we were being picky but then we referred to photos of meal we had when we visited The Whitney for Thanksgiving 2021. That meal was delicious. The beans then were whole and freshly prepared. The turkey was juicy and covered in gravy on top of lumpy homemade mashed potatoes. The yams were soft and sweet. This year, 2022, showed a significant dip in quality and worse ingredients yet they charged the same price and for less food. The wait staff was friendly and the food was quick. However the main course, was so bad there's no way me or my family will ever be returning to The Whitney.

The Whitney is one of Detroit's gems - a gorgeous and romantic setting. However, the prices have increased significantly over the years. Entrees average $69 - $99 (!) $89 for a small portion of Beef Wellington although (includes appetizer, salad and desert) is still very pricy. The food was okay - not spectacular. That being said - if money is no object - certainly treat yourself to one of Michigan's most romantic restaurants.
