Refining gastro pub food for a lighter enhanced experience put together by our highly skilled team of chefs. Not good, if we needed anything we had to go to the bar. There excuse they were busy. Waited for drink to long, order took too long. Food was generally okay. Mushroom starter, toast was burnt. Main course, bacon chop was to salty and steak Pie wasn’t the best. Service was atrocious, not going back there soon

Visited for my birthday using their offer of buy a course and get another free! Was pleasantly surprised, really attentive staff, good choice of wine and the food was very good. We had starters, prawn pil pil and garlic mushrooms on toast, both very tasty. We were given plenty of time before being served the main course which I appreciate. Sirloin steak and all the trimmings cooked perfectly. Pasta with spinach and sweetcorn was delicious. I had prawns added as an extra and did ask for it to be extra saucy. It was just that and served piping hot. Deserts, fruit crumble and custard which was a good portion size. The lemon cheesecake was one of the nicest I’ve in a long time. It was so deliciously light. All in all a very nice evening for my birthday.

Four meals 2 ok two bad, the grain salad, should have chia seeds, wild rice red quinoa, avocado & mixed veg, we should have complained as it was mixed salad leaves only, the chicken meal was tasteless, the service was very very slow, after our starter we waited 1 1/2 hours for our main, we will not be going back!!!

Food was great, service was terrible. Two young lads left running the place, who clearly weren’t bothered about tending to our table even though the restaurant was dead. Grand total of 3 tables being occupied. When it came to ordering desserts, it was more of a question what do you have rather then what don’t you have.

The restaurant was cold even after asking for the door to be closed. The food was nice although one of our party asked for jacket potato with prawns and Rosemarie sauce. Although the waitress said this could be done it came with prawns just out on the potato with no sauce so it was dry

Really awful Sunday roast Drinks took 15 minutes to arrive Lunch arrived quickly, but was terrible, roasties not roasted, no cauliflower cheese or pigs in blankets, vegetarian gravy was watery and had no flavour, parsnips were hard, carrot and swede had no flavour. Asked for a doggy bag, as we couldn't eat the food and as we'd paid for it, we wanted to put it on the dog's tea. Took 20 minutes to get this and had to chase. Took ages to pay for the meal. Service is dreadful

We had a wonderful evening at the White Lion, the food was lovely & it was hot. Our waitress was really pleasant & had a lovely sense of humour. Our group meets every month & we choose different places to eat. As we have a lot to talk about we normally are the last to leave. The staff at the White Lion didn’t pressure us to leave at all. I would definitely return & also recommend the White Lion to other people.
