My husband’s twin sons drove from Buckingham to spend Father’s Day with us. The table was booked with ease on Open Table. When we arrived we were greeted with a smile and immediately shown to our table. Our drinks order arrived quickly. The boys ordered (twin 1 )- Surf and turf and (twin 2 ) homemade pie. Both said the food was excellent and that the pie was the best he had ever had! Hubby had the gnocchi which he said was really good and I had my usual gluten free Sunday Roast. It was delicious. Sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake were had by twin 1 and hubby. Both said they were excellent. As we were leaving the boys said they wished they had somewhere as good as The Horse Inn in their village. I was so pleased that after driving to see us - (3 hours) it was all good. I have ordered the Loyalty Card which lasts for life to get a discount on return visits! A big thank you to the team for making Father’s Day so special.

We had a lovely lunch at the White Horse Inn in Neatishead. The food was genuinely great. I went for the crevettes and they were spot on. Full of flavour and I haven’t had ones that good in years. You could smell the quality as soon as we walked into the restaurant which set the tone nicely. There was a hiccup with my main. The waitress had written down the wrong dish so the kitchen had to make another. I did get an apology but everyone else was already well over halfway through by the time mine arrived. I would have expected a small gesture of goodwill to make up for it. Not a major issue but it did take the shine off a bit. Towards the end of lunch it started raining and they had to shut the mezzanine windows due to leaks. That made the area quite warm and stuffy, which wasn’t ideal as my partner is pregnant and started to feel a bit uncomfortable. When I went up to pay I was left waiting at the bar for some time. I’m not exactly easy to miss but the bar lady skipped over me and tried to serve the only other person there. Just a small thing but added to the little niggles throughout the visit. That said the overall experience was still enjoyable. With almost three courses each and a bottle of wine the bill came to £161 for four of us which felt like really good value for the quality. A few service issues but I’d still go back for the food.

Food was good but standard pub grub. Initial table service was also good but after the food arrived everyone seemed to disappear. We would have ordered more drinks but in the end we gave up.

As always the staff delivered a great service. The food was excellent and both the gluten free and vegan options were very good. The price is very reasonable and good value for money.

We were particularly impressed by the service. One of our party has a severe intolerance, and the manager had previously gone through the menu with the chef and marked up problem dishes. He was then very careful about checking that there were no issues. He was also great fun and friendly. The food was tasty and good value, with stand-out puddings.

Our second visit to the White Horse to experience their steak and wine evening with our friends. The ambience and service were once again exemplary and our steaks and accompaniments were delicious. The wine choice was excellent. We will certainly return.

I had the gluten free roast beef option and it was delicious. The glazed carrots , cabbage and green beans were perfectly cooked as were the roast potatoes. The red wine just finished the meal off and I didn’t need the additional gravy. Only gluten free folk will understand the joy of a gf Yorkshire pudding! My husband had the pie with the veggies and skinny chips which he really enjoyed. My sister had the vegan mushroom pie with roasts and veggies which she said was a lovely meal. My brother in law had the vegetarian linguine with sun blushed tomatoes and garlic bread. He also said it was lovely. The service was really good and the staff are attentive not intrusive. The puddings were also yummy. Overall we had a great afternoon so thank you to all the staff and chef. Just a quick note- if you are vegan and booking ahead let them know because the vegan options sell quickly!

Absolutely gorgeous roast, super crispy roast potatoes, nice change from the anemic ones most establishments serve up. Super fresh vegetables. Good range of wines, beers and ales to choose from. Wonderful staff, especially the owner/landlord, super fast service , lovely chap, able to accommodate me with my fussy eating 😀. Dessert, we had the sticky toffee pudding, again accommodated my request for custard rather than the ice cream. This request had been refused in a previous restaurant, 'wrong time of the year' was the response we got. Just one tiny point, hot plates would be the cherry 🍒 on the top. Overall a wonderful meal, we're both looking forward to the seafood evening.
