   Brilliant place with really great team and fantastic food. Gary has done an amazing job with this place and has all the hallmarks of his other places. We drove 50 miles to eat here for a special occasion and glad we did. Went for a nice walk before heading back for dinner. Top marks and will go again.

   As a regular visitor to this village gem I’m always astonished by the quality of meals they produce, but last night I had one of the specials. Crispy beef and sweet chilli salad. It has taken my appreciation to a new level, it was amazing. I recommend you try it if you get a chance. Welcome to James, the new Assistant Manager, joining what is a great team.

   The service from the young girl long black hair was excellent. The main course x2 Sunday roasts wasn't very good. The beef was like liced beef from a supermarket and not from a joint which we hoped it would be, and was very bland. The roasties appeared to have been cooked earlier and re heated, burnt, and rock hard. The veg was nice though. Starters and desserts were ok. I had whitebait and there weren't many and put in a small ramakin type bowl with only about 7 or 8 in it. Therice pudding and custard tart were very tasty. Drinks were fine. Its a shame the main was not up to a tastier and better cooked as we would have considered going back. Neither of us wanted Yorkshire pudding and asked for them not to be included but they arrived on the plates anyway. They took the meals away and returned them without the Yorkshires. I would like this establishment to prosper but you would need to improve in some area of standard, flavour and quality of certain food stuff. Good luck in your endevours.

   Thoroughly enjoyable Sunday lunch. Very impressed with quality of food. Exceptional service from friendly and attentive staff.

   Pleasant staff, prompt service, excellent food, comfortable. Only thing I’d change - the music was a bit loud for my taste and dining with two people with hearing aids it made conversation a little difficult at times.

   Easy to book and park. We went for Sunday Lunch and knew what we were in for, great service, top drawer food and a lovely relaxed atmosphere, no pressure to move the table on. Gary and his team have changed a derelict country pub into a thriving destination Gastro pub - a massive effort which shows in the location, the food and the service. Top drawer food on the outskirts of Chester - well worth the accolades and another visit.

   Was recommended by a few people, maybe we had too many high expectations. Food was average, carrot & swede had far too much pepper, T-bone steak was very rare after asking for medium. Very little choice on sides, cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets would have been nice. Cod risotto was perfect and buffalo wings were lovely. Lovely little country pub.

    Gorgeous meal - beef wellington special and a wagyu beef special were really unexpected treats Apple and rhubarb tart with a ginger crumb to finish was absolutely superb Relaxed friendly atmosphere and such lovely staff if you’ve not been then you’re missing out
