Very disappointed, our first visit, my birthday treat. There was no warning that we would have to wait over an hour for food and no apology or update. After a good meal the waitress started clearing the table before two guests had finished their meal. Not very impressed!
Decent pint of Guinness. Fantastic venison and mash main course followed by a tasty cheese platter washed down with a glass of port
The place looks great inside. However, we weren’t overly impressed with the food. Had a Sunday lunch - the chicken was chargrilled, not roasted, the broccoli was hard and the Yorkshire’s weren’t crispy. The rest of the meal was ok.
Poor choice of desserts, very surprised by Christmas pudding in February! Not sure why there wasn’t a chocolate sweet of any kind.
We were seated at one end (from the bar) it was cold and some of my quests were old & it spoiled it for them. Also I would like to see more vegetables.
Really enjoyed the other night at the White Harte. Food was really good and the Merlot good. The music from John Prescott was excellent. Can't fault it really although it would have been nice to have a few more beers available and maybe a specials board with some fish dishes.
We went a few times when it reopened but it was awful every time, the service was terrible and they kept getting things wrong, we even had the cocktail section booked and half an hour before the manager called to say they didn't know we were coming and they didn't have staff to man it which was disappointing.
This time was much better, there seems to be new staff and they were great and the food was very nice, I am glad we gave it another go because this is local to us.
First time here since refurb for a special family birthday. Quite pricey but was a special treat, not an everyday meal.
3 of group had pizzas and one had beef stroganoff special. We were only table in restaurant on a Friday night 7pm. Order had to be retaken verbally as iPad failed. Specifically asked, twice, for one pizza without onions but came with extra onions had to send it back and await a fresh one to be cooked. Was disappointed as meant birthday girl had to sit for 20mins watching us eat. Food was very good though apart from this mishap although would have liked to know stroganoff didnt come with veg or salad as needed some colour . Desserts fairly priced and salted caramel icecream a dream!
Overall, a tasty meal and reasonably priced - 4 dinners, 2 desserts and round of drinks £80.
Would come again as hope service issues just a one off .
The service and food were exceptional, I can recommend the pie of the day followed by a delicious apple crumble. The decor is tastefully done all making for a pleasant evening, it just happened to be quiz night which is on a Wednesday and that was good fun too but if you just want a quiet evening the quiz is held at the bottom of the restaurant so doesn’t have an effect on others.
Service was incredibly slow, even the drinks took time to get to us . Only us and another table having lunch but took 40mins to get our meals.
My venison was horrible , just flakes of meat in a mould , no flavour .
My partner had the burger and that was great !
Nice food but a bit pricy, especially for one course .
This is the first time we have eaten at the White Harte since it re-opened after renovation. We were impressed with standard of cooking - my steak and mushroom pie was full of large pieces of meat and was very nicely cooked.
Great food, the staff were very attentive and friendly.
We had no idea the place had reopened so decided to give it a go
Welcomed by the barman and shown to our table we were quickly delivered our drinks and menus. We were seated near the kitchen doors and toilet corridor but it was ok. The music was too soft to make out above the level of voices and the place lacked atmosphere in general. Food was tasty and well presented and fairly priced and we will likely visit again with lowered expectations
Great Sunday lunch - very knowledgable staff who were very careful with food allergy.
Great welcome when we arrived, prompt service with menus and drinks. Chatty and friendly waiter, nothing was too much trouble when we requested extra or different things, Great with my 8 year old daughter, lots of fun and laughter. We will definitely be back!!
Enjoyed the food but by the time we got there they had ran out of a couple of meats and certain vegetables otherwise very good food and service
Very cold in the eating area
But food is fantastic
Overall our first visit to the refurbished White Harte was a enjoyable one. The singer added a nice touch to the evening and the place felt lovely and welcoming. Only had fillet steak on the menu as sold out of ribeye. We liked the idea of steak on a stone, but would have liked a medley of veg instead of lettuce leaves. Chunky chips a bit under cooked for us.
Service fine. Not impressed with food. We eat out a lot. Starter pate was ok but bread had been buttered hot and was soggy by the time we got it. The chutney with it also tasted like apple sauce and was odd with it. We had steak which the menu said was on a stone. Not realising what that was, only when it appeared did I realise it was raw and I had to cook it myself. If I had been told when ordering it would be ok. Problem was by the time I finished cooking it, the rest of the meal was cold and my partner had nearly finished! Also those nearby got smoked out. The ‘side salad’ also turned out to be a bowl of lettuce. Overall just felt overpriced and people appearing not to care about giving the customer good food.
Absolutely amazing! Went on pizza night and had the best pizza and chunky chips EVER and we've tried a few! Will be going again soon. Thanks White Harte.
The food was of good quality however plates could have been warmed and the food was just not hot enough therefore went cold quickly. You cannot discriminate young families but it was distracting watching young children having free rein in the pub climbing on empty tables picking up salt and cutlery and running around by your table whilst your eating whist parents turned a blind eye to it and carried on chatting. Would I visit again? Yes probably after little ones are in bed and knowing the food is piping hot and warmed plates. Just being honest!
New Menu issued on the day. Small selection though ideal for sunday roast
After an awful first visit we thought we would give it another go and glad we did. Had a lovely night food and staff great.
The food was amazing, service was great and it was a lovely relaxed environment. I'll definitely be back again and will recommend to friends and family!
The food, service and decor is good. Personally I think it would benefit from some soft furnishings to improve warmth, comfort and noise. It was quiet when I visited ( a Weds) however during a previous visit on a Friday I could hardly hold a conversation above the noise. I will go back though because it is in a nice location and food is good.
Overall it was a shambles! We waited 40 mins for our food! We saw another table ordering after us and then get served before us only to find out it was the owner and his family, surely you would serve your paying customers first! The Caribbean Jerk chicken was bland the halloumi starter was poor value and when we asked for our bill we were over charged by one main! Not a very satisfying experience.
Food was good but service was slow. Circular table was great for a group but it was not very stable and drinks were spilt. Lunchtime set price for one, two or three courses was very convenient for splitting the group bill.
Food was excellent .
I took my Grandson and Granddaughter to the White Harte as its recently opened again and is close to where we live. The décor and surroundings were very nice and modern, the food menu although small had everything we liked and was beautifully cooked and presented. My chicken chasseur was fresh and very tasty, my Grandson had the fish and chips and my Granddaughter the pie of the day - we all cleared our plates and managed a pudding as well which were equally as good.
A bonus is the pub is dog friendly so we will be back again.
Service was excellent from all staff
Had Sunday lunch and food was outstanding
Pub and toilets very clean
Will definitely return and recommend to others
Excellent Sunday lunch with friends. Couldn’t fault it.
The bar was so noisy you couldn’t hear yourself speak. Ordered the steak on a stone for 3 of us and they only had 1 ribeye left at 6.15 on a Saturday so bit surprised by that. Bearing in mind we cooked the steaks ourselves which I have to say we’re superb, the chips were mediocre and not many and the ‘vegetables ‘ consisted of a few strands of red onion a some lettuce leaves!!! So costly at £26 for a fillet!! Cheese board 3 cheeses which should have been left out the fridge a bit longer so not a lot of flavour and fancy coloured crackers that were not crispy at £7.95 a head. Maybe next time I will try something else on the menu but I really think they’re missing a trick here. Too noisy too expensive for what you get and what’s with serving everything on a slate slab!! Just bring me some nice tasty cheese and crispy crackers!!! Saying that the staff were very keen and attentive but not in a hurry to go back.
Very nice food, lovely place
Very pleasant night but more variety on main course menu is needed we thought few more fish dishes perhaps would be good but staff were very nice and my wife’s fillet steak on a stone was superb
