We have had many excellent meals at the White Hart but Our dinner on Friday night was very disappointing. This might have been because the restaurant was extremely busy and our booking was at 9pm. But this should not be an excuse. The service as usual was excellent but the food when it came was over cooked, the vegetables tasted as though they had been re heated several times, the steak tough and the chips cold and with tough skins. The fish was tasteless and dry.My son was treating me to the dinner so I didn't want to complain and spoil the evening. Will think twice before re booking to eat here especially as we felt this was. It good value.

Very disappointed that the standard of the food in this one of our favourite pubs has dropped so significantly.

Well I requested a table that was nice and cosy with comfortable chairs and away from a draft for 6 people. The opposite of what I asked. They put us on a long table for 8 people, with one side on a hard uncomfortable bench sloping downwards in a cold corner! They had no cucumber for the Hendricks. No alternative potato to chips or mustard mash (we requested - boiled potatoes) even tho they originally said sauté potatoes and then returned to say no sauté Time, 7pm. We ordered sides to come up as a main but came up individually. Even tho we specified it to be a mains. We had to ask for a plate. Wrong dessert but not to make a fuss, we accepted it. The ice creams came out on a glass. Without a plate and no decorative wafer or napkins. The ice cream however was very nice. The young waiter took our orders correct and was very polite and tried his best but everything went wrong from kitchen to table. The steak I was told , very good. But had to wait for the jugs of complimentary sauce that goes with it. I asked for a house salad with toasted seeds. It was just green leaves with vinaigrette dressing and shredded pickled onion topped with seeds. Very vinegary. Over all. It's a lovely place but it's lost it's local charm and warmth. Their unfamiliar, cosmopolitan chill reception and lack of attentive details does not impress me. It's the sort of place you would come across in a city. Not a small town like Somerton! My pet hate is - lots of pots of sauces and chips In baskets. I just want to see a plate of good cooked food of which I ordered. I for one am happy to pay for good service and food. But this was over price The manager has no personality or warmth and took our napkins away before our desserts and before we had finished. She asked at end of meal if ok? A member of our party mentioned everything went a bit belly up but ok in end. She snapped " why was that" we blew it over as it was a celebration evening and didn't want to put a damper on it.

Having stayed at this Boutique pub/hotel on our wedding night, i booked a table for valentines dinner for myself and my husband. Our wedding night and breakfast had been a success, but we hadn't sampled dinner there, so i hoped for the same standard. And it was! The bar staff and waitresses are very friendly and attentive, the food was delicious - great variety on the menu and excellent value for money. The pub/restaurant is cosy, romantic and very country. Thoroughly enjoyed, thank you! x

The staff were friendly and attentive, the service was very good. There was a good menu with plenty of choice. The food was well presented and well prepared. There was a good choice of excellent deserts which were absolutely delicious. An overall pleasurable experience. We will return.

The best steak and chips! The staff are always so kind and helpful, and do their best to keep up with serving pace at the busiest times.

It was mine and my partner's first time visiting despite being really local. We were really impressed with how the pub has been transformed, the decor was really trendy and attractive yet in keeping with the area. The food was fantastic, really tasty and we were really impressed with the portion sizes, great value for money! The menu has something for everyone. Our only critism, is that they seemed very understaffed for a Saturday night. Our food came out quickly, but we were ordering our drinks from our table, and it took nearly 10 minutes for each drinks round to come to our table. No one offered us drinks through out the night, so we were sitting for some time without a drink. Servers were friendly and helpful at our tables, but there did seem to be some disgruntlement between staff, which was noticable to us. When we finished our food, we moved to the bar area, but they were understaffed here too. We will be returning.

So enjoyed the evening and the food was excellent too. I had the veggie option with the sweet pototo. Absolutely delicious, but I did feel a little hungry afterwards so probably would look for some other veg to come with it.

We visited with my daughter and her boyfriend for a New Year lunch - very comfortable surroundings, with the odd vintage-style lampshade to distinguish it from the ubiquitous wooden table and wooden floor renovated gastro-pub look currently popular - what impressed us most was the quality of the food which was all excellent. Staff were also very pleasant, without being excessively informal, and the wine-list interesting. Service a little slow, but with it being New Years Day and the food this good, we didn't mind waiting. Maybe a little expensive for the area, so an occasional rather than a regular treat, but we plan to return.

We were greeted politely and given menus; served in a timely fashion, (not too soon or had to wait a long time); food was served quickly and it was all excellent - clean plates all round. Some of the main meals are rather expensive but you are probably paying for the decor and comfortable ambiance. The staff were all very professional from our experience that day.
