   Although our booking was acknowledged by Open Table, we travelled to Dundee to be met by a hand written note on the locked door, stating the staff were on holiday.

   Incredibly disappointing experience on what was hoped to be a Happy Mother's Day for all the mums in our family. I had missed the fact it was a set menu on the day, and was surprised to find that we couldn't order individual items from the usual menu, but take responsibility for this. We did however, find the set menu overpriced (£29.95 for 2 courses & £36.95 for 3) for a lunchtime meal. The vegetarian and vegan options were extremely limited, with only one main option covering both and no vegan dessert option at all. When ordering we were then told that one of the two vegetarian options from the starters was unavailable, which made no sense when they had a specific menu on for the day, and our booking was at 12 noon! I spoke to the waitress, who was trying to be as helpful as possible, about my concerns at having to pay the prices for the limited availability, and she kindly agreed to charge individual prices for the vegetarians and vegan in the group. We ordered, starters came in a decent time but then waited 45 minutes for the mains, which were lukewarm. I will say, the food tasted good but the whole experience was really disappointing and expensive. I did pay the bill, but only because I didn't want to cause any more embarrassment for the other members of the family. I always feel it is important to give the restaurant the opportunity to reply before writing a review, so I emailed the manager with the issues we had encountered. She replied with a very short email, telling me that the set menu had been advertised, menu items can "run-out" (which I find hard to understand at the beginning of a service) and she apologised for our disappointment. I replied, highlighting that she had not addressed my issues around the long wait and temperature of the food, or the limitations on the menu, and she has failed to reply. The ambience in the venue and general quality of the food was good, but the organisation, mainly in the kitchen, was poor.

   We had a fantastic meal! Food was excellent and service was fabulous! We would highly recommend!

   Having booked a two course lunch with wine. Having arrived at the venue with friends we found that we were only being offered a brunch/sandwich menu. This was nothing like our expectations and unable to agree a resolution we left. Extremely disappointing to say the least. I would question menus available before booking. This is very hard to come to terms with with when you hear a lot of hospitality venues are under pressure and yet you’re treated like this. We won’t be back unfortunately.

   Had a nice dinner at the White Goose. We both had a starter and a main course and the food was good. We shared a dessert and this was also nice. The menu had a varied selection and neither of us had a problem choosing something to eat. We had a bottle of Italian Grillo/Chardonnay which was pleasant and reasonably priced. The staff were attentive and very polite. Only negatives were that they had run out of some bottled beer that was on the drinks list but the main negative was the temperature in the restaurant. It was a cold evening outside but there was no sense of entering into the warmth when we sat at our table, so much so that my wife kept her coat on for the whole meal. In summary would we dine there again? Probably but we'll wait until the weather gets warmer.
