The White Barn Bistro
Perfect for a special meal.
We love to come to the Bistro at Christmas- love the decorations and the food and service are second to none!
Great ambiance, and service from start to finish, however, not enough to save the meal. Filet was over cooked and so salty it was barely edible. Wife ordered the same and also experienced a salty and overcooked meal. Bread served cold and without butter or oils. This is a basic staple meal so hard to imagine how they could get it so wrong. For a restaurant/inn of this level it was a very disappointing experience and we’ll not likely return. Shame as we’re also locals and would have loved to make it a regular in the rotation given the atmosphere and service. Cannot recommend.
The food was amazing — apart from the baked Brie which was on the cold side. Lovely romantic atmosphere and very peaceful until the end when a very large, noisy group came in.
I mistakenly booked dinner in the bistro. I wanted the restaurant for a special night out. The food was very good however it was very casual and noisy. This was my mistake but I would not go to the bistro again. It just wasn’t for me. My next visit will be in the restaurant.
Celebrating our anniversary. Prior experiences in the restaurant have been disappointing but the Bistro exceeded our expectations. The staff were cordial and knowledgeable. They anticipated our needs with style and grace. The food was flavorful, served at appropriate temperature and visually appealing. All in all a nice experience and value.
We were passing through town and made a reservation in the Bistro. Due to an event, Robin was kind enough to sit us in the dining room, which was beautiful. What a room! Service and food was outstanding. Beet salad and lamb were unique and excellent. Robin was lovely and so kind to spend a few minutes with us sharing color on her home country. Highlight of our trip. Thank you
We very much enjoyed our meal at The White Barn Bistro! The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was very attentive.
The service was Great, fall decorations were amazing, food was yummy. Only comment - they do need to up their game on the mignonette for the oysters. It was very basic.
Our meals were delicious and the service was fantastic! Nico was great!
Atmosphere is incredible and very special. The menu is a bit boring, but food is well-executed.
I was really looking forward to dining at the White Barn Bistro, but sadly it was the single worst dining experience I have ever had. We were seated promptly and had water filled. Our waiter came by to see if we would like a cocktail, I ordered a glass of wine, the waiter poured a sip for me to try and I found it to be lukewarm. He seemed miffed but left to get another bottle. After receiving the wine at the right temperature, we sat and sat, nobody came back to take our order. Finally I noticed the manager in the dining room and he took our order. Two Caesar salads and two pan roasted salmon. The salads came out and after the first bite, I could not eat it. I have never had such a salty salad. I flagged down the manager and he brought two new Caesar salads, these were saltier. He took the salads away and came back to tell us that he tried both salads and we were right, the salt level was totally inappropriate. The fish was not seasoned, the couscous served under the hot fish was cold and very over salted. Finally the waiter came to tell us the manager asked him not present us with a bill. I tipped for the service and we left. So disappointing!
Rare burger was harder than a hockey puck! Burnt!!!! Had to ask for desert for our guests whose daughter’s wedding proposal happened there. All foreign wait people with MAJOR language challenges.
Ate there over 100 times in the past. Dreadful now! RIP!!
Christina was wonderful and we loved the prix fix menu selections!
Outstanding! The service, food and ambiance were first rate. Our waitress was appropriately attentive, responsive and knowledgeable. Berkshire pork tenderloin with farrow salad and prunes were delicious, as was the salmon. Ambiance was comfortable with a suitable noise level.
Service was the primary problem. Our server was inattentive
One of the best meals I have had! Everything had a fabulous twist. Even the Cosmopolitan was more delicious -they used St. Germain rather than Cointreau and white Cranberry). Sat in the bistro rather than the more formal dining room.
Drinks at the piano bar followed by a perfect dining experience. Outstanding service. Took advantage of the Summer Sizzler menu which did not disappoint. Wonderful salmon and a scrumptious not too sweet chocolate bread pudding. Looking forward to our next visit to Maine so that we can go back!
Perfect evening to celebrate our engagement. The blackberry mocktail was delicious and by far one of the best clam chowder soups I’ve had the privilege of consuming!
From Hugo at the bar to Kristin our server, we had a lovely evening. This was our first time at the Barn Bistro, but we will return. Can’t say enough about the service and delicious food, all served to perfection by everyone. Thank you for making a special evening even more special. Cheers to you!
Celebrating my daughter’s family spending time with us in Maine. They also loved the White Barn!
Anniversary. Clam chowder is out of this world.
My family of 4 loved it and will be back again in the future. We enjoyed the truffle fries, the burger, filet, and caesar salad. We didn't like the flavor of the bolognese, but we loved everything else. Service was excellent!
They should rename this the FIVE STAR bistro..what a great experience!from the lobster bisque to the salmon to the fresh berry dessert..everything was super..we'll be back tomorrow.
Thanks mr. White Barn..you did an outstanding job!!!
Excellent food and service.
Ate at bar. Amazing food, fab wine list, gorgeous setting! Our 2nd time in a week. Obsessed!
Wonderful atmosphere, terrific service and delicious food.
The food, wine and service were excellent. We hadn’t been there in a couple years, because the last time we went we were unhappy with the quality of the food. It was much improved from last time.
The white barn inn dining experience was wonderful. The staff and ambience is second to none. They were extremely accommodating and friendly. I cannot wait to return another time in the future.
My husband and I really had a wonderful dinner. Our waiter Niko was terrific ! We were celebrating our anniversary and it was a wonderful night! We are looking forward to enjoy another dinner soon.

Don't let the Bistro in the name fool you - the food is excellent and much better than I expected it would be. The bar is small but very good service and selection. I will definitely be returning here.
Wonderful setting, staff attentive, friendly and fun. Food perfectly prepared and beautifully presented.
The food was amazing! The service was excellent! We were completely satisfied by our experience at the bistro. We actually prefer it over the fine dining, it is a touch more relaxed and choosing our own meals was a treat as the food was so delicious. The staff was courteous and attentive. We will long remember our server, Nico, and our dinner for our first anniversary! We couldn’t have asked for a better night out!
We had a lovely late lunch. Food was delicious, the ambiance quiet and enjoyable.
While the ambiance and food were wonderful, what really stood out as outstanding was the service. The staff treated my elderly and mobility-challenged mother as if she were their very own, making for a delightful visit. Their kindness was truly touching, and I look forward to dining at the White Barn Bistro again soon.
One of our favorite restaurants when we’re in the area. Always a special treat to dine here. Food, staff, and service are always excellent!
We had a very nice evening at the White Barn Bistro. The room is very nice , the service was excellent and the food -and drinks were delicious. We recommend it as it is a very lovely evening out in Kennebunkport.
I went to the White Barn Bistro while in Kennebunk on vacation alone. You never know what kind of treatment you will get when you are dining alone but the staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. I had the seared salmon which was excellent. Very well prepared. The wine by the glass list was very good and I was able to get a wine that I had not seen ever seen on a by the glass list before. The room was nice and not overly loud. My only slight complaint is the dessert--shortbread cake with mixed berry compote. I found it a little bland. Not bad but not as spectacular as the rest of the meal. But overall a very good.
I have visited a few of dozen countries, lived overseas for many years, eaten food at places ranging from street carts to extremely expensive restaurants in major cities.
Our dinner at The White Barn Bistro, was one of the best experiences I have ever had in a restaurant, and my specific meal was also one of the most enjoyable and memorable meals I have ever had.
