   For Manhattan, a calm elegant place for lunch/dinner. Interesting menu, solid food and service, and a very special decor. Nice all around, not to be missed. And I am picky.....

   The service was terribly due to lack of staff. We had to request part of our order twice before it was delivered. We ended up having 3 different servers.

   I’m conflicted on how to review our experience. We had a 3:15 reservation on a Saturday. We weren’t seated until 3:25. The waiter didn’t come for about 15 minutes. We ordered the Royal Tea Service. The tea itself was served promptly a few minutes later. But then we waited over 45 minutes after we ordered the food for it to be served. By the time the food came we’d actually finished our tea. The put new water over the same leaves after I mentioned the tea was gone. Then the waiter told us his shift was over and someone else would be taking care of us. That was the last time anyone checked on us until I started asking random people for the check. Having said all that the food was good. The caviar probably wasn’t worth the money but it was already an extravagance so I don’t really regret the upsell. Some of the bread was slightly stale but it didn’t ruin the sandwiches. So decent food and the people were all extremely pleasant but that kind of delay when you are spending a large amount of money just isn’t acceptable. There are lots of places for tea in the city. We won’t be back.

   The service was absolutely horrible—from the wait for our table for which we had reservations to the 15 minute wait for somebody to come by and offer a glass of water to the delay in having our tea and sandwiches arrive—it was ridiculous. We were in town for a celebratory weekend, and the restaurant had one chance to do it right. It blew it !!!

   Having been highly rated we most definitely expected better quality food offerings. They did present well and looked very nice. However the bread for sandwiches were quite stale and the fillings really not up to the quality we felt it should have been. The desserts were ok. Service was great and the location is quite nice. Having been to High tea all over the USA and Canada for the cost and ratings we expected more.

   Amazing service from meeting the host through to the end of the experience. Great food. Wonderful live music. The steak was one of the best I have ever had. Top marks all around.

   We went for their afternoon tea which was delightful. The room and decor were also lovely. And the service staff were welcoming, pleasant and polite. The only downside is we booked our tea for the latest time slot in the afternoon, and the elegant dining room was right next to the bar area which was already heating up with loud music and chatter. This rather shattered the quiet ambience of the dining room. Unfortunately there was no sliding door to close off the room. So lesson learned, book your afternoon tea for earlier in the day before the after hours office crowd comes in!

    excellent, excellent food and presentation. unfortunately did not see our server at all during our entire meal.
