Always a good experience.
The service and the food were excellent.
Great meal and food. Everything was great
Drinks were not tasty, bar food was not hot, generally the wait staff was terrific
Waitress had to be literally summoned 6 times to the table - as she never once stopped by herself to take order, reorders, water, or check. However, before asking whether we were finished (we were not) cleared off a half full cheese platter. Restaurant was half empty as this was between 330-430pm there was no reason to be so busy.
Excellent as always - perfect for lunch or afternoon tea; dinner of course and late night drinks and snacks. Never disappoints
Delicious and elegant! Love this place.
Great eclectic decor. Good value. Nice to sit at the bar and then move to the quieter area in back for dining. Will definitely return next time we’re in NYC.
The food is good but not outstanding. The table space is excellent for midtown. The menu choice is limited. The location is very good.
I would give the Whitby more stars if I could. Everyone was so nice, the atmosphere was perfect and the food was delicious.I will definitely return .
Such a fabulous spot - my new fav in the neighborhood! Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Great food and drinks! Cool ambiance.
The Whitby is one of my favorite places to meet people for lunch, drinks or dinner. The ambience is cool, eclectic and sophisticated — which is not an easy balance to achieve. The food is always more interesting than what you read on the menu. I’m always delightfully surprised!
Outstanding experience, loved everything about it!
Food was ok, service was very slow especially for a weekday lunch hour.
I have been here at least three times this year with several colleagues and have never been disappointed. After dinner, we usually take a tour of the downstairs floors which are equally as impressive as the restaurant. Looking forward to my next visit!
I ordered salmon with no salt and it arrived loaded with salt. They recognized their error and corrected. That took and additional 15 minutes.
A lovely place for high tea. Beautiful setting and service!
Wonderful server, delicious fish, crisp champagne, and berries. What more could one ask for?
Lovely. As it always is.
Overall a first class experience!!! As with all Firmdale Hotels !!
Excellent food, excellent ambience, great service. What more could you ask?
My favorite lunch place!
Love the Whitby! The location is fantastic, the bar scene happening, and the food delish! The back dining room is perfect if you want a more quiet atmosphere, or stay in the front if you prefer more of a NY scene. Service is always spot-on!
This place oozes charm. The food and service are of high quality. Sadly, when there's a noisy table, (as there was at lunch yesterday) the tranquillity of this oaasis of civility in midtown is violated. The happy celebrators were too engaged in their own jolly doings to notice that they were truly annoying others. Perhaps a discreet word from the maitre'd might have helped.
Healthy, tasty, well-presented food; delicious champagne.
The team at Whitby starting with Holly, Hunter, Rover, and several others who epitomize charming service, will make any visit memorable. Everything on the menu is absurdly good, but the. cheeseburger is a must when the decision seems impossible. Tuna, salmon, and steak are all superb. Whitby is a joy and hopefully others will treat themselves to this special place.
Ours was the only table in the room without a tablecloth. Service completely indifferent / had to ask for things multiple times. Felt like there was no one in charge making sure things were done properly. Such a pretty room - restaurant empty. Sadly I would hesitate to go back. I had selected the restaurant for a dear friend’s birthday and I was disappointed.
We love the Hotel, Bar and Restaurant. Fantastic ambiance with really cool artwork and great guest rooms. Bar is great, with really talented and friendly bartenders. Food is first-rate and our waiter, Tony, was absolutely fantastic. Zero defects! You’ll love it!
This was a great restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal...and what a terrific value for Restaurant Week. So glad we tried it! The food and service superb and the wine pairing was perfect...and what a pretty place. Highly recommend!
My fourth time at the Whitby. Always a pleasure
Lovely decor and atmosphere, very good service. Live jazz music, a plus! We enjoyed our dinner but the food was not outstanding or memorable. I'd go back to try it again, though...maybe for drinks, lunch or brunch.
Decor was outstanding. The food was just fair. I would go for drinks, mostly for the ambiance and the service.
It’s a lovely place to dine. The food is good and the service is attentive.
It is always so relaxing to have lunch with girlfriends at the Whitby. Two of us introduced another friend to this beautiful place. The Restaurant week menu was delightfully delicious and enough. We , of course had excellent service. Young, our waitstaff was terrific. She made the perfect recommendations and was so attentive. . It always is a pleasure to dine here. Ambiance and all. Surely we will be back.
One word ...FABULOUS
The ambiance was great. And food flavors very good. But the fish, both Branzino and Halibut were dry. We did not ask to have them redone as we did not want to spend another 30 minutes waiting for dinner. We sat in the bar area which happened to be pretty empty on a Saturday night! Too bad
Beautiful room, gorgeous fabric on the chairs and beautiful china. There is a small outdoor area with two tables that is lovely and private. The waiters were attentive and pleasant. The food was delicious. It is pricy but worth it for a special occasion.
