I can’t say enough about this restaurant- it was gorgeous, the food was amazing, and the wait staff was too notch.
We had a delicious lunch and excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Almost seems unfair to be reviewing in this environment given that the restrictions imposed on indoor dining and the relative lack of patrons makes "ambience" virtually impossible. But the things they could control (food, service & attitude) they did well. Waiter was friendly but not overly obtrusive. Great looking room from a design perspective which is typical for a Firmdale Hotel. Always feels like I'm back in London.
Fantastic service and delicious food in the cutest tiny outdoor patio ... our server went above and beyond with blankets and very attentive service. Generous portion of smoked salmon in my brunch order! Prices are somewhat high but very standard for NYC and honestly cheaper than I expected for this level of service
I went for breakfast and was one of the first there. The workers seemed put off that someone was there so early.
The online menu was accurate but the portions too small for the price point.
The setting was nice and made the overall experience welcoming.
It was wonderful!
Amazing spot for a drink or meal in Midtown. The staff is wonderful, friendly and attentive. The Whitby has a very cool, chic vibe. Everything we ordered from basic cesar salads, to burgers, fish and brussel sprouts on the side was phenomenal. I continue to go back for drinks and meals. Also, they take extra care during covid to physcially distance tables and seating arrangements. When it was warm enough, we had the back garden to ourselves for example! Felt like being on vacation, and not on a busy nyc street. Highly Recommend!
Beautiful dinner on the patio with fabulous service!
Great experience, fantastic service. The tuna tartar and burrata salad are absolutely delicious!
Awesome space and great, friendly service. 😊👏🏼
Service was impeccable yet relaxed and no pressure to rush. Had a wonderful meal and enjoyed showing my out of town gust around the hotel as well. Highly recommed as always!
Wonderful food, excellent service and the perfect setting!
Great Food, Great Bar Scene, Friendly Bartenders and Waitstaff. Reservations honored and Noise Level was Energetic and yet you could easily have a conversation.
We were surprised and delighted by the Whitby. It's a lively and happy place. The menu is interesting and the food delicious. We'll definitely be back!
Service was very good. Food also very good except one meal portion was minute- seared tuna
LOVE the Whitbey
Burger is world-class
I prefer to sit up front near window
Both food and service have improved, a great place for business lunches.
Particularly courteous and knowledgeable staff made for an especially pleasant dining experience.
A lovely venue for a celebration tea, the scone, sandwich and cake stand is ample, and there is also a delicious gluten free/vegan option. It’s pricey, but good for a special occasion - a very stylishly decorated room, great service and a calm quiet atmosphere.
Easy Sunday brunch. Service was outstanding!
Dining at the Whitby Bar & Restaurant is a first-rate experience. The staff is warm and hospitable and the menu is varied, the food is delicious, and the ambience is top-notch! The weekend brunch is excellent and the afternoon high tea is lovely. What more could one want?
Lovely dining experience at the Whitby Hotel. We had drinks at the bar where the bartender was very informative about the cocktails and spoke to some of the design elements of the hotel.
Holly, the manager, was beyond welcoming and made my birthday very special with some extra special touches during our dining experience.
Only critique would be that the back dining room, while very beautiful, was very cold with all the glass and high ceiling. They brought us a heater which greatly helped. Next time I would eat in the bar part of the restaurant, especially in the winter.
We will all go back for sure. Kit Kemp's attention to detail really makes the Whitby a New York place to not miss!
Fabulous as always. :-)
Wonderful decor and ambience. The food is Phenom. Loved the Mac n Cheese.. definitely going back.
Loved the exuberance of the decor down to the china and wallpaper! Lovely brunch, too. Next time I’ll come for tea!
Found this wonderful spot by a chance walk and glance at their menu; made reservations and the rest is history! Our new go-to neighborhood restaurant; beautifully prepared, fresh and unusual ingredients. We’re a vegetarian and a carnivore ... this spot offered us both some special treats. Look forward to returning soon.
Great atmosphere as well in front bar and rear dining area. And loved that chewy warm mini loaf of bread!! Thanks for a memorable evening!!
My wife and I had been there for Restaurant Week, and we LOVED it, so we went back. Very disappointing. The dishes we enjoyed for Restaurant Week were not on the regular menu. The tuna sashimi appetizer was very dry and bland, with little pieces of orange and jalapeños on top. Even the jalapeños were devoid of flavor. For the main course, I asked the waiter for a recommendation based on what other patrons liked. He recommended the chicken breast with risotto. My wife had the squid ink pasta with crab. Both of these main courses were just OK... Not worth the price though. Sadly we won’t be returning to the restaurant. It’s unfortunate, because the service is good and it’s in a geographically desirable location for us.
The Whitby is a magical spot in Manhattan with wonderful ambience and a diverse menu!
The Whitby is fantastic. The food is delicious and amazing. The staff is over the top professional and remember everything about you. EVERYTHING. Come in a second time and they’ll remember you, what you ate and what you drank. Amazing.
I stumbled on this and now I’m HOOKED!!!!
Don’t miss this NYC gem. This surprise waiting for you.
Oh. And you can thank me later.
Great service and food, and as always, the most beautiful and inspiring environment!
Excellent, interesting menu, attentive staff, interesting and comfortable surroundings and blessedly reasonable noise level, which is too uncommon in NYC.
Stunningly beautiful space! Wedgewood China service ware, silver flatware, etc.
They did not recognize reservation was made via NYC Restaurant Week, even though it was. There was no restaurant week menu available. Hostess was accommodating and provided us with a $36 Lunch option. Food was delicious but server was no knowledgeable about dish ingredients and switched shifts in the middle of our lunch. We were left confused and looking for our server constantly.
I would go back as the interior design and food were excellent but I hope for a much higher level of service for a restaurant of its caliber.
The room was beautiful and the hostess was very friendly. Loved the decor and our corner booth was comfortable. We were there for lunch and it was not very busy. It was surprising that the service was not as attentive as it should have been. We had to stop someone to get water. Food was good.
The loviest place. They were clearly understaffed so the service was slower than it should have been. That said, the staff was charming and professional and we wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Poor and slow service
Creative menu - Well executed - will go back again
Excellent restaurant week meal. Beautiful setting.
We were there for Restaurant Week and it was an EXCELLENT choice. Great food, great service, great ambiance, what more can you ask? The staff was solicitous and accommodated our various allergies. There was even gluten-free bread on offer! Highly HIGHLY recommended!!
