We came for tea as a group of 3. Our table was lovely and we had a great spot in the restaurant. We did the caviar and champagne tea and it was fabulous! The food was delicious and the ambiance was incredible. I would definitely come back again!

I LOVE taking friends for meals at your lovely restaurant. Everyone is always super nice and friendly. Our server yesterday was just ok. He seemed a bit overwhelmed and distracted. When it came time to get the check at around 2:45pm, he was busy cleaning up tables. When we finally flagged him down and told him we needed to go, he acknowledged our request and then, to our surprise, he went another table and started clearing that table! He felt rather indifferent. Our food was terrific but the server definitely put a dark cloud over our otherwise sunny experience. Thought you should know!

Johnny along with his colleagues were exceptional at their job and made our tea time very enjoyable. The ambiance and food served were delightful and I truly enjoyed my afternoon at your location. I hope to comeback soon and will surely share with others.

I took a European guest for afternoon tea and we both enjoyed the experience. It's quiet and the back room is beautiful. I highly recommend it. It's a lot of wonderful food and we were both full after enjoying the three tiers of treats. The service is excellent and we were not rushed.

The ambience at the Whitby is welcoming, warm, both sophisticated & quirky at once! From the moment we walked in, we knew we’d come back! We were seated in the back room for afternoon tea and just loved the decor and the kind service. The tea menu was limited - maybe 7 types of- with the featured tea not available at 1:30p, which was disappointing. The tea service comes with only a choice of one tea. The food hit on both ends of the spectrum: scones were quite good, but accoutrements were skimpy in quantity. The sandwiches - which were the main things we were looking forward to - were passable. The desserts were good, but I’d not order them again. The scones were definitely the stand out. I’d definitely return for a meal in the Whitby but I’d venture further to find a better quality food offering for tea. Kudos to the staff for fantastic service and to whomever decorated the restaurant and lobby.

I've always enjoyed this restaurant, but it was off. The service left us alone for long stretches of time. We had to ask for bread, and were told there was only whole wheat unless we wanted to wait several minutes for white. The food itself was fine, but no more than that, and at these prices, the food should be great. I'd informed the restaurant that it was my friend's birthday and his dessert (which we had to find a waiter to take our order) didn't acknowledge his birthday, and neither did the staff. Disappointing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon tea. The place is elegant. The people that work there are welcoming, and I loved every minute of my experience. I am stuffed to the gills. It was just the most wonderful experience, and I plan to do it again.

This was such a lovely, relaxing afternoon. I let them know we were celebrating a birthday when I made the reservation…they brought out our tea tier with a candle for my niece. When they called to confirm the day before, I let them know I had just realized one of our party was gluten free, they said they offered a gluten free tea….she said it was all delicious. I’ve been here three times, it’s my favorite spot in nyc for tea.

Waited 15 minutes for table and close to 30 fo food. Sandwiches were tiny and mostly bread. Deserts were mediocre. Disappointed in the quality and quantity of the food. The ambiance is beautiful though.

One of the waiter’s service is terrible! Our table was dirty when we sat down. I asked the waiter to please clean it. He told me those were black pepper. So? Eventually he cleaned the table. However, his attitude shown he was not willing to. He cleaned it without care and with some black debris remained on the table. The time we left and passing through the door, he was standing beside the door. I thanked him but he didn’t look like want to reply me. I can say it’s the first time in such a high class restaurant encountered such low quality service.
