Lunch was quite a disappointment. Food just not very good. We ate half. Nice waiter but he came over 10 times to ask us how things were, interrupting conversation each time. I love the decor of the Whitby, and the room is so pretty. Better to stick to drinks and skip the meal.
Super friendly staff, the manager was very knowledgeable. The food was amazing. The ambiance, the decor, and everything about this place was fantastic. We ended up staying over 2 hours because we were having such a great time.
Wonderful taste and presentation
I cannot say enough greats things about the Whitby the entire evening was perfect. The food was as great as the decor.
Tis is a beautiful venue serving beautiful food with friendly professionalism. Never fils to impress.
Elegant surroundings. Beautiful ambience and gracious service. However, the price is reflects the upscale setting.
The Whitby Bar and Restaurant is a lovely place to dine. The decor is creative and comfortable and the service is impeccable. The menu is varied and the food is delicious. Whether you go for brunch or afternoon tea, or dinner, it is a real treat!
Simply the BEST breakfast in Manhattan.
Delightful location - a sea of serenity .
We had a wonderful brunch experience - it was unhurried and we loved all the beautiful decor . Service was excellent and the food was good too .
I would definitely return to try afternoon tea or dinner sometime or enjoy a drink at the bar .
Gorgeous and chic spot!
For a lovely ambiance and excellent dining experience, I highly recommend The Whitby Bar and Restaurant. The Sunday brunch is wonderful; the service is impeccable and the skylight and wonderful art and creative decor in the dining room make for a bright and a totally enjoyable experience. Great for special occasions and holidays.....and the afternoon tea is a special treat, if that is preferred.
Fabulous dinner! Wonderful service! Can’t wait to dine again!
The place is beautiful but the food is mediocre. I think it might be a better place for lunch or afternoon tea than dinner.
Exceptionally pleasant for brunch, breakfast or afternoon tea (my only experiences to date) - An entirely civilized and inviting dining room / light-bathed orangery, excellent menu choices - well prepared, and attentive and welcoming staff. A great place for catching up with old friends - and for many other purposes I am certain.
Loved the Whitby for breakfast! Gorgeous sister Hotel to Ham Yard in London. Breakfast was amazing array of fresh fruits , yogurts , mueslis and lovely pastries . Service was excellent. Highly recommended for amazing decor .
This restaurant and bar is a midtown gem. Somehow it makes you feel like you are not in NY. The food is great and so is the service!
Absolutely rude staff, food is very small portioned! Never will be back!
The food is creative and very good. The room is charming as is the rest of the hotel
All of the people who we came into contact with were helpful, friendly and supportive. My son and i have a lot of food allergies and sensitivities and they were serious about making certain that the food was safe for us to eat. I had mentioned to the waiter that i have stayed at the Covent Garden Hotel in London numerous times. The manager, Holly, came over to us and said Welcome Home! Right away we felt like family. The decor and the atmosphere truly supports that home away from home feeling. The food was excellent and we plan to
Return for dinner very soon.
Best of the best. Great food, service and ambience. A place that makes you feel special because it’s so special.
I’m not sure if I’ll... The ambience and the service were the only 2 things that stranded out. The food was not great and worst was the dessert. A chocolate tres leches that was horrible disappointing. Been a pastry chef myself there was absolute no resemblance to a tres leche cake. It was more like a pudding...
Great for business lunches. Nice bright light, good service/food, and beautiful ambiance.
The room is the draw. The design, fabrics, lighting - EVERYTHING. Kit Kemp is a genius. You can't NOT enjoy being there.
I entertain there frequently. Fabulous environment with superb food and service.
We sat in the bar area for Mother's Day dinner. It was quiet with gorgeous decor and excellent food. We felt we were in a luxurious home.
I very rarely give 5 stars across the board, but then I rarely have a meal as perfect as tea at the Whitby. The room is whimsical and comfortable. The servers are friendly and skillful. And the tea is scrumptious including the actual pot of tea. The egg salad sandwich and the carrot cake were our favorites, though there wasn't anything we didn't like. It's a little pricey, but portions are more generous than most teas. We were able to take home enough for a late night snack and relive the splendid afternoon.
If you want a lovely ambience, good service, very good food and quiet atmosphere in the middle of Midtown, this is a gem. Highly recommend and will definitely go back.
incredible service - delicious food, whimsically decorated environment⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lovely decor, a very special atmosphere, not bloodless like many hotel restaurants.
Gorgeous restaurant. Always a pleasure
One of the most beautiful rooms in Manhattan where the freshness of everything matches the excellence of the service.
I have already recommended The Whitby Bar and Restaurant to friends and business associates. I was very happy with my experience there.
Everything was superb: beautiful decor and ambiance, jazz ensemble playing, fantastic service, and wonderful cocktails and food. Can't wait to go back.
Sweet 16 birthday trip
Whitby has by far the most exquisitely, elegant yet casual afternoon high tea in New York. Easily Top 3. The ambiance, the attentive service all wrapped around delicious food and tea. Perfecto!
Impeccable food and service. Likely in my top 3 Easter brunches ever!
My parents and I absolutely loved our experience at the Whitby this weekend. The service was exceptional and our food was delicious. I would highly recommend!
What a complete surprise as to how wonderful this restaurant is. We came across it by accident and were blown away from the time we walked in. The decor is just beautiful with English porcelain platters decorating the walls, brass birds in the chandeliers and a wall of shadow vases with NYC landmarks. The Menu has something for everyone. My Partner is Vegan and he was able to enjoy the vegan options offered. They knew it was our Anniversary via OpenTable and surprised us with a dessert at the end of the meal with a candle and scripted greeting with our names. The Servers were very friendly and attentive as was the Manager. Everyone wanted to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. Loved the Rik Rak Gardenia Greenleaf hand soap and lotion in the rest rooms. We tried to buy some bottles to take Home from the Hotel but they were out of it. We will come back on our next trip to NYC and maybe stay at the Hotel too.
The Whitby was the perfect escape from the buzz of New York. Dining at this artistic and vibrant hotel was like finding another world where peace, lovely food and fabulous service makes you feel pampered and well looked after. Coffees are exceptional.
