Served on Kit Kemp's beautiful Sailor's Farewell Wedgwood china, enjoy delectable finger sandwiches, including smoked salmon and crème fraîche, a selection of mouthwatering cakes and homemade scones with clotted cream and preserves. $65 per person or $85 including a glass of Pommery Brut Apanage NV. For our Afternoon Tea service reservations, we ask you to cancel your reservation by 10pm the day prior. We have a 10 minute grace period in case you are running late. We had afternoon tea at the Whitby. The food was good for the price. They were out of the tea I wanted to try, but what I did have was good. Nice ambience, china and table linens. Service was decent. Would definitely return.

This is the third time in a year or so that my breakfast reservation was not honored. The hostess was unhelpful and unkind; the manager listened to my concerns with no particular care. I will no longer consider this place for any meetings.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant. The art the fabrics everything is crazy stunning! Food was yummy scrumptious and the service was absolutely impeccable! Our only tiny complaint was the lighting needed to be dimmed down a good 50 percent. It was too bright!. I understand them wanting to show off the stunning decor BUT you can do that with softer lighting! Dim the lights! It’s more inviting! Other than that, the experience terrific. We will be back, next time I’ll look for the dimming switch on my way to the table lol.

I came to the Whitby Bar for afternoon tea yesterday and while nothing was bad, nothing was great either. It was just overwhelming average and for the price it cost, we left feeling disappointed. I didn’t want to post this initially since nothing went “wrong”, but I felt misled by the overall great reviews of this place and didn’t want anyone else to make the same mistake. To preface, I love afternoon tea, and have had it in several places in London, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Atlanta. My rating of this place is in comparison to all of those afternoon tea experiences. The Whitby Bar is in a 5-star hotel (a hotel which has many locations in London) in NYC, which set my expectations high. When we were led to our table in the back, we walked by many used tables (around 5) that were left untouched for awhile. The sandwiches were extremely bland, boring, and a little stale. The desserts were uninventive and upsetting. Why would such a high tier hotel serve two mini cupcakes that look like they’re from a grocery store as part of the afternoon tea? The scones were OK. We had a server offer to refill out teapots with hot water within 5 minutes of getting the tea pots and afterwards was not serviced at all. I know this is a nit picky review, but that is because a restaurant hotel of this tier should do much better. If you’re expecting an elevated afternoon tea experience, please don’t expect that here. Even the afternoon tea I had in the suburb of Atlanta at a small family owned restaurant was much better than this.

Thanksgiving our server, Nicole was top Notch. Very attentive and was a pleasure to be served by her tonight. The ambiance was perfect in every way. We shall return for Christmas Dinner on December 25th. The manager, Mr Lopez has assembled a great team at the Whitby Bar/Restaurant. Our praises to the whole staff. Mr. David Pandozzi

We were not seated in the area for high tea. We were seated in the bar area and I had made this reservation about 2 months prior and flew in from another country. The sandwiches were disappointing. They were not tasty. The waiter left and did not tell us who was taking over. Disappointing😩

This is a place to go if you get energized by color and decor. The food was obviously delicious too. The chef adds depth to simple things (such as a hint of vanilla in the turnips). My salmon fillet was accompanied by lavender-kumquat compote, which was sweet, tasty and light. I love creativity in my food. Beyond the colorful restaurant area (dont forget to look at the colorful china with matching sea and fish theme wall paper in the bathroom) The sitting room is so comfy, intimate and happy, as are the elevators with splashes of bright paint and artwork. As for “value” the mimosas are $19, which is above average. (But maybe not for New York City). This place is more of an experience, and the service is excellent, so even for lunch, the entrees are between $40 and $58. A side of home made french fries is $14. So, I wouldn’t come here expecting a bargain.

Always a pleasure, food delicious if not quite inspired. Lovely space, interesting crowd. All ran like clockwork, until the waiter seemed to forget our coffees. Suggest pouring champagne at the table, even if just by the glass, so guests can see what they're drinking.

Made a reservation for Afternoon Tea at the Whitby Hotel. It was $65 per person pre-fixed menu that included lunch, desserts, and tea. The "dessert" looked like they were taken out of a pre-packaged dessert (picture those mini cupcakes that u can buy from your local grocery store). The lunch included mini cookie-cutter 'sandwiches' that looked almost inedible. For $65 a per (not including tip), I was expecting way higher quality food. The picture I attached shows the food we got ($120 TOTAL for that). The best part of this experience was the ambiance. Although, when my friends and I were trying to take pictures at our table, the staff was staring at us, judging us.

While cordial, the service was very poor. We waited an incredibly long time for our food - both appetizer and entre. And when the entre finally arrived, we were given the wrong order. The waitress wrote down something other than what was ordered. And we weren't about to wait for them to correct it. We were so looking forward to being back at The Whitby and so disappointed with our experience. They did try to make amends but it was too late for that.

Great atmosphere and decor. Waite staff very nice and attentive. High tea definitely not worth the $65 cost per person but the scones were delicious and the best part of the tier. Wouldn’t recommend for the food but definitely would recommend it for a small bite just to enjoy the decor.
