The Wheelwrights Arms is an award winning dining pub with bedrooms. We are passionate about serving customers excellent seasonal food in an informal but beautiful atmosphere. A regularly changing A La Carte Menu is served from Monday to Saturday between 12 - 2 pm and 6 pm - 9 pm. In addition to the A la Carte Menu, you’ll find a selection of delicious homemade bar snacks and daily specials listed on the blackboard. On Sunday's we serve food all day from 12 - 4 and 5.30 - 7.30 pm.

The Wheelwrights Arms Country Inn is nestled in the peaceful village of Monkton Combe and surrounded by picturesque hills and valleys on the edge of Bath.

We visited for an early New Years Eve dinner. The food was excellent and the vegetarian options were well thought out and a departure from the usual ‘mushroom with a side of mushroom’ that restaurants often default to, and which I very much appreciated. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Overall, a fantastic experience.

Risotto was nice, Dessert was disappointing, service a bit slow. Expensive overall for quality. Burning plastic fume smell from the kitchen was very unpleasant.

We might well recommend The Wheelwright's Arms to friends because the food is very good, but with the caveat that the waiting time for service requires patience and it is fairly minimal when it happens. We also suffered from sitting at a table near the door with the accompanying blasts of cold air every time someone came in. It then had to stay open for at least ten minutes when the fire started smoking so the end of our lunch there was rather spoiled. We might go again for a beer but we wouldn't go again for a meal, even though we enjoyed the food, because of the poor service.

It was the most shocking and unpleasant experience I have ever had in years, let alone in a restaurant. The landlord was a bully to me and displayed a horrendous amount of aggression towards me when I sent my steak back because it was dry. The waitress was in tears because he behaved in such a disgusting manner. He insulted me over and over said he would call the police if I didn’t pay for the steak. My husband stepped in and he remained deeply unpleasant and child like. My husband and I were in such shock over his nastiness that we wrote it off to the fact that he’s just a deeply unhappy individual and he just wanted to vent on someone. What a terrible experience and the food wasn’t great either.

Dear Victoria, You ordered the most expensive item on the menu (beef fillet for 30pounds), you ate half of the meal and then refused to pay for it and ordered soup. This is very poor form on your part and both other guests and staff spoke of how rude and aggressive you were. You are certainly not welcome back and your contact details have been shared across the industry to make other establishments aware of the Con that you are. Kind Regards Wheelwrights Arms

Really let itself down. I have had some great meals here in times past but not today. Charred black burger buns, cold raw burgers and no-one asked my guest how they wanted them. I flagged up the completely black bun offering and was told it was 'chargrilled' and no offer to replace. I was embarrassed to have recommended the venue.

Dear Emma, Thank you for your review. Our burger buns are flame grilled and will therefore be slightly charred. The burger meat is naturally a ruby red colour and therefore looks pink naturally even when cooked medium. The head chef was on duty during your meal and disputes that any cold, raw burgers were served and we feel this is a big exaggeration on your part. Kind Regards Wheelwrights Arms

Lesley and I visited with 2 friends. We were all very happy. It was our friends' first visit and they enjoyed every aspect, but especially the chat with our server when she recognised one of our friends as the cyclist she had run past.
