The West End Grill
Went for our anniversary. Staff were great, as was the food perfect place for a special night.
Very attentive wait staff, good variety of menu choices, excellent Old Fashioned
It was "ok". Waiter was great. Food was just ok. We had the dumplings appetizer, really seemed like it needed a sauce. Also had the artichoke appetizer as well. For dinner I had the gnocchi and she had the scallops. Risotto with the scallops was really aldente, not cooked in the wine or broth enough. You could really tell everything was fresh and that the kitchen cared for sure. None of the dishes tasted great, flavor was just "ok".
I am so relieved that new management has retained the staff. The professionals who work there contribute to the cozy friendly ambience. "Some times you want to go where everybody knows your name....."
We dined alfresco to escape the high noise level of a private party in the restaurant but had a wonderful experience. It was a cool, breezy summer night in AnnArbor and our server, Rita, was excellent. The honey mustard shrimp appetizers with applewood bacon were spectacular and followed by superb swordfish and wonderful scallops. Excellent wine selection.
The service was great and so were the drinks. My steak was a little tough, and the tuna tartare was lacking any flavor, but the rest of the food was great.
Our table was ready right at our reservation time. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. Service was great, food was excellent. Delicious from apps to dessert and great cocktails. We were seated close to a very loud party of businessmen. They were so loud I had to ask the server multiple times to repeat himself when describing the menu and again when I ordered.
West. End. Grill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely the best restaurant in Ann Arbor. Service, Food, Wine list, Location, it's EXQUISITE. All of it.
Have eaten at West End Grille several times. Very disappointed in the food. Vegetables were soggy.
The server was excellent but overall, we were very disappointed in the food.
We have always enjoyed the West End Grill. Our waiter, Rita, was a wonderful server, explaining the various dishes in detail and with enthusiasm. It is a very relaxing place to have a great meal - quiet and paced out with appetizer, entrée and desert in a quiet beautiful setting. Highly recommended!
We were celebrating our anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our waitress Rita. We had made reservations early and were able to have a quiet dining experience. The food was excellent and will come back again.
Birthday. Used to be better; maybe a chef change. Old standards lacked pinache.
Fantastic dinner at the West End Grill. Started with the grilled artichoke and a crab/salmon rangoon appetizer and then had the sea bass and a sable fish special. Everything was delicious and the service was warm, friendly, s d very attentive.
Celebrated A special birthday here and it was perfect.
So many restaurants are noisy and too busy- the ambience and the attention to detail were just what we wanted and our wait staff was top notch.
Would highly recommend The West End Grill for a special occasion.
Outstanding food & service—wonderful experience!
Very quaint restaurant. Nice atmosphere until it is full then noise level hard to have conversation. Food delicious. Presentation nice. But way over priced. $320. for 3 to dine.
Top notch food. Top notch service. Another wonderful evening at West End Grill.
Excellent food and wine list
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and had a fabulous time at West End Grill!
Food was good but overpriced. Prices have gone up significantly since we became patrons about ten years ago. The increase is not proportional to the increases at neighboring establishments. The service is always good, as is the ambiance.
As always, the West End Grill satisfies the palate as well as any other Ann Arbor establishment. The ambiance is second to none, the wait staff are incredible (thanks Christian!), and the food is phenomenal!
Great food; excellent service; pleasant atmosphere; can’t ask for more
We celebrated our anniversary as we have done @ WEG for the past ten years. It never disappoints. The food and service are absolutely first rate. It is our favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor and Toledo (our home town). We recommend it without hesitation.
Absolutely perfect! Took my Mom for her 60th Birthday and it was the perfect start to our night. Sea Bass melted like butter
The verbal menu is cumbersome, yet unexciting... (all meats come with mashed potatoes... etc.)
Cocktail read $14 on the menu, I was charged $20.
Roasted Caprese was not a good take on a classic. Oven dried tomatoes and cheap mozzarella are not an improvement.
Bone in Delmonico came with no bone and in two pieces... strange.
Told the server I wanted wine with dinner, never was provided the opportunity to order it.
Not sure about the hype. Extreme price value disconnect.
Will not be returning.
Very nice atmosphere with great staff; Joy was awesome. The menu has many unique choices; I decided on the Seafood Strudel as my appetizer and Filet Béarnaise as my main course. They were both out of this world. We will be back again!
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS EVERY TIME!! This restaurant does it right. Classy, delicious, amazing service, wonderful decor, please can I move in???
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We have been going to celebrate our anniversary at the West End for many years now. It never disappoints and we will continue to celebrate all of our important events that require a great meal at this wonderful restaurant !!
The West End Grill is a personal favorite of ours. We have gone there for various special occasions for over 25 years. During our last visit (our anniversary) we learned that the original owner sold the business to another local buyer who values the charm of the place and regularly dines there. The new owner did not want to lose this gem to some trendy chain and have kept everything (including the wonderful staff) in place. I hope this this place retains its intimate charm and atmosphere. The food is always solid. This restaurant has the feel of a quaint European eatery.
The West End Grill has been our favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor, and it has not lost a step with the new ownership. The friendly service, ambience and amazingly delicious food are all exactly the same! The warm beignets and herb butter are the perfect start to every meal, and we loved our artichoke and ravioli appetizers. Entrees on this visit were the halibut, chicken and filet mignon...all perfectly prepared and so full of flavor. So glad the new owners didn't try to improve something that is already perfect!
Great as usual!
We have been going to West End Grill for years. It is always consistently great. Joy was a pleasure to have as a waitress. Food is always the best.
Great atmosphere, service and food. What else ca you ask for? We will be going back.
Haven’t been to West End Grill for several years. Had a very early reservation. I am celiac and asked about gluten free options. In the past the chef had been able to make changes to just about everything on the menu. This time the options were limited. For the appetizer was told 3 of the 10 or so were gluten free. I ordered the grilled artichoke. When it came the server placed the sauce in a separate bowl on the table and told me it was not gluten free. So I was served a plain grilled artichoke. Then ordered the “special” salad described as a roasted tomato caprese. It was whole sundried tomatoes and mozzarella. Just awful. The salmon entree was good. My husband’s lamb chops looked much better but apparently had a sauce with gluten. For the price the chef should be able to accommodate a gluten issue IMHO.
The experience was very good. But, not as good as our past experiences. The food was not as flavorful, the presentation was the same chalk board menu. However, don’t present on broken chalk boards, with smudged writing, & juvenile printing. You can tell the restaurant was recently sold, as the little details are not attended to.
Very dark. Waiter takes a long time relating the menu. There is no written menu. Fried beignets were good but didn’t go with meal. Seafood strudel was a clump of slightly burned filo dough with a dense pile of seafood. Seafood was ok by itself. Lobster bisque was poor. A hint of lobster flavor with no lobster meat. My sea bass was very good but the plating was poor with a half carrot sitting alone over almost half the plate.
Overall, not worth the money.
Made reservations @ 8p to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday, we arrived around 745 and our table was ready and we were seated immediately. Rita was our server and she was outstanding throughout.. very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. After a couple of well made old-fashioneds we had the seafood strudel as an appetizer... I highly recommend. I had the filet and my date had the mushroom gnocchi.. the filet was great and as much as I liked it I think the gnocchi was even better. Too full to eat dessert but it looked as good as the rest of our meal. The overall atmosphere is very friendly and classy not stuffy..perfect for what we were looking for. We will be back.
Good menu, good service, nice variety, pleasant place to have dinner with friends.
The food and service is second to none. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
