The Wellington, Neighborhood Eatery
Delicious salmon, fabulous brownie sundae. Great waiter. Just great all around.
I have eaten at The Wellington many times & have always loved the food & the service.
I always want to love it here, but after our fist visit a year or so ago, have just been let down. It’s never awful, it’s just “meh.” Food is fine, not particularly outstanding. Service is spotty - for example, this evening’s dinner featured an absurdly long wait between apps and entrees (15 min. or so while we watched parties seated far after us get served, and it was a Thurs. at 6:30, so not slammed at all). Then my husband’s lamb was served as just slices lamb down the middle a plate, no garnish, no side dish. So odd - we had to hunt our server down to get his side delivered. They are great about gluten intolerances with plenty of options that don’t feel like punishments, but for the price, I’d rather go somewhere that gets me more excited re the food.
The ambiance is wonderfully modern! The wooden chair are very uncomfortable. My 9 year old had to keep getting up to sit at the hosts station where there was a cushioned chair. And my bottom was sore. I had to keep shifting. The food is good and ‘fashion’ forward, but terribly overpriced! Would come back for a date night with my husband but not with a group of friends for casual dining.
Although a delightful place, the steak was overcooked. They were most apologetic and comped the entree.
Fun place to meet and dine with friends. The gluten-free/allergic one in our party was delighted to have so many options. Food was good, service was great (pleasant, prompt). A little pricey for a neighborhood place, but of high quality.
Service very slow and inattentive despite restaurant being very empty . Will not return .
Great food and ambiance
This was our first time there and we really enjoyed it! The food was fabulous and the service was impeccable. Very attentive and pleasant!
The food was delicious and the little popovers that you get at the start were an unexpected delight.
The prices were a little on the high side but if you get good food and good service, I don't really mind. We will definitely be back!
Very good food. Did not have the wine we wanted, but gave us a similar, but more expensive wine, for the price of the one we couldn't get. Very busy on a Sunday night over a holiday weekend so noise levels were fairly high.
As always a very enjoyable experience. We had a a very fine evening
The food is good, but is very expensive. They also asked us whether we wanted flat or sparkling water, without telling us that there's a $5.00 charge for the sparkling water.
The portions were and the prices were not. Food quality is good, not great. The waitress inconsiderate, repeatedly interrupting our conversation, and talking at us, rather than with us. Nice atmosphere and crowd. Free parking.
Good restaurant. Service very attentive. Good food. Interesting menu. A little noisy.
The quality of the food and the service at The Wellington has definitely improved a lot since its opening and is much more deserving of the relatively higher menu prices. Everyone thought their meals was delicious. I had Wellfleet oysters and thai chicken lettuce wraps and they were both great. The restaurant is extremely noisy, but if you ask for a booth you might be able to hear others at your table a little bit better. The service is very friendly and helpful, but the food arrives a little bit slow. One of our party of six received a meal was no longer warm, and decided not to mention it to the server because he was worried that the rest of the table would be done eating by the time he got the dish back heated. In terms of ambiance, the decor in this restaurant is very upscale but but casual, with fabrics used in many of the seats and soft and pleasant lighting. Seating at the long bar seems to be popular.
The food is good however it is pricey. The noise level is also challenging.
Creative, upscale food, with something for everyone. Dinner portions a bit small, dessert large. Food ready awfully quickly. Noise level very high. We will go back at an early hour to avoid noise. Excellent service. Bread is out of this world.
Everything that we ordered, from appetizers through dessert, was excellent. They had oysters on the evening we went, so we ordered six. They arrived well-prepared and with delicious cocktail and mignonette sauces. We also had the mussels, and I cannot wait to go back to order them again. The coconut broth was amazing. Our swordfish and salmon entrees were perfect for a hot summer evening, and the sorbet and cobbler wrapped up a perfect meal. Our server was lovely and attentive. The restaurant was not very crowded, so it was very easy to relax and talk throughout. I look forward to visiting The Wellington again soon.
Everything was great very pleasant experience
Six of us met over dinner to talk wedding planning. Our server was outstanding, attentive, personable and happy to check with chef re: food allergies. Food was delish and prompt. Atmosphere upbeat but not too loud. Good night
We had a large party for Sunday brunch with a last minute reservation and we had a good time. The best part of it was our server Dio, who was awesome! The food and drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was cool.
For the price, food is good, service is poor. Go elsewhere where you can get both.
Consistently good food and service. Avocado toast is always a winner! Seared tuna special was spectacular!
Was so impressed with the creative dishes and variety of flavors. Our party shared the mussels, the avocado toast and baba ganush— all were absolutely delicious. Our entrees were equally as tasty — the short rib onion soup was the best I ever had and the fried chicken was amazing! Our server was knowledgeable and made great suggestions. We were lucky to sit near the kitchen which provided a view of all the action! I would return in a heartbeat!
First brunch at Wellington, definitely will be back. Great food, drinks, service. We were eating in the front room as they were showing the Women’s soccer game. A bit on the loud side but understandable
Looking for a casual change-of-pace for a rainy weekend night. The Wellington hit the spot in many ways. Czech pilsner for the beer aficionado, a very professional Manhattan for me, and creative cocktails for the ladies (infused with purple flowers). Mussels and kale salads were a hit to start. Burgers were well received although those who got the one with the truffle tapenade said the flavor verged on overpowering the meat. My Winn burger was excellent with just a hint of horseradish. The verdict overall was positive. Of the three at the table who had not been to the Wellington before all expressed an interest in returning again soon.
Nice place for a meal with friends.
Prices are too high.
Food is salty and expensive for the quality. Staff is never very friendly or attentive
The background music was way too loud and distracting. It was too hard to hold a conversation without having to raise our voices even though the restaurant was almost empty. Food was solid bit couldn’t get past the lack of ambiance.
We love this place! Looking forward for another brunch!
They lost our order and it took 45 minutes to figure it out. The food was fine, albeit overly complicated and a bit pricey.
No need to go back.
We had a nice dinner. The food was all good and the ambiance was great. However, the service was extremely slow.
I really want to like this place...convenient, nice ambiance...but my two visits have been lackluster. Food is just okay for the price point. Service has been poor both visits. And it’s really loud. Might be fun to sit at the bar, but I won’t go back for dinner again.
Wait staff seemed off. Perhaps new in which case they should of had better oversight
A nice casual place to go with friends, with outstanding service by all the staff. Some of the plates were outstanding (delicious burgers for example), while others sounded better than they were. The salad special was expensive and not very flavorful, and the fruit cobbler tasted like it had been warmed in a microwave, an absolute no-no (the crust was soft). Drinks were similarly varied, some great, others didn't live up to the price.
The place has a lot of potential, so it would be great if it could be more consistent, especially since the prices are not exactly a bargain.
We will end with emphasizing the overall nice experience with had, in large part because of the service.
The service was a bit over zealous with clearing our plates. We were interrupted several times by servers asking to clear our plates when we were not quite done making us feel a bit rushed.
Also, our server, while very nice, neglected to ask me how I wanted my burger cooked. I had to find her to let her know that wanted it cooked medium well, but the burger arrived cooked medium rare.
Aside from those couple issues, the rest of the meal was good.
Truffle Burger, Truffle mushroom omelet........ Nothing more needs to be said.
Excellent service and the food was great. We were in a smaller space of the restaurant and the noise level was very low.
