About The Wayfarer
The Wayfarer opened in 2014 and is a bi-level Classic American grille located on the bustling corner of 57th street and 6th Avenue just below Central Park. The diverse artisanal menu focuses on locally sourced ingredients. The menu is complemented by custom cocktails created by award-winning mixologist, Christian Sanders, of Evelyn Drinkery.
The Wayfarer's interior, designed by the award-winning Meyer Davis Studio Inc , evokes a feeling of “old meets new,” drawing inspiration from the 1970’s blended with the classic New York of the 1800’s. The multi-leveled restaurant offers the choice to observe passerby's on the main floor by our open cafe glass windows or enjoy a cocktail in our upstairs lounge.

The Wayfarer Ratings and Reviews
Food was not bad, but the service was strange. Waiter came back with drinks and we were obviously ready to order, but he just walked away. Once we ordered the food came quickly. It was good, but nothing special. Table was cleared and we were expecting the dessert menu but the waiter just put the check on the table and left. We decided not to bother with that place anymore and had dessert elsewhere. Also, odd choices for the piped in music - sort of disco.
My partner and I enjoy the Wayfarer. It's in a great location on the corner of West 57th St and 6th Avenue without the noise and a much more friendly staff than is experienced at the restaurant on the southeast corner of the same streets. Excellent ambiance. Reasonable noise level and when the weather's great, the windows across the dining room open for a very enjoyable dining experience.
I was very pleased with my experience at the Wayfarer. Been wanting to try this place for some time and I finally made it. I will definitely return. The raw bar selections are fresh and delicious. And the steak was cooked to perfection. Great for a date night or a night out after work.
The restaurant had a nice ambiance and service overall was very good. The food was mediocre at best. All the food ordered at our table was out in no more than 10 minutes. I have the suspicion that the food is premade and they warm it up for you when ordered. The prices were extremely high for the quality of the food (I know it's NYC). I would not recommend this restaurant nor will I revisit it.
Took a client here from out of town. I have been once before and remember it being louder than it was so that is a good thing. The wait staff was extremely slow and the bus boy came over a lot to refill water but would never clear when we were finished. Seems like everyone was new and didn't know what they were doing. Had to flag the waiter down when we were ready to order, when we were finished and then again when we needed the check. Food was good- small portion and the steak with burrata salad was mostly steak and lettuce and hardly any burrata.
We (a group of four) came here for dinner on a Saturday night. The place wasn’t too crowded. We were seated at a small square table first, but requested a bigger table at the corner.
Food was well presented and tasty. We asked the server to recommend a drier red, but he gave us two whites. Also had breakfast here on a weekday before. Service was slow-ish, solid food.
P.S. In-app Apple Pay available. Hotel (Quin) guests can transfer the restaurant charges to hotel bill.
We had late breakfast and a long conversation. The Huevos Rancheros were exceptionally tasty. They accommodated my request for the eggs done differently. The salsa and the black beans were deliciously spicy, but not super hot. The potatoes had crisp edges and were also slightly spiced, really tasty. Great choices for healthy breakfast and also croissants and pastries.
My friend had a cappuccino, which was great. I had an Americano with soy milk, and appreciated having that option.
The room is lovely and the staff were attentive but gave us the space for our long conversation. Both the wait staff and the host were way above average in their welcoming and considerate demeanor. Great experience, and reasonably priced for the location. A block from Brooklyn Diner on 57th St., and if you'd prefer a quieter, less hectic spot, this is a great choice.
First time here. Thought we could squeeze in with breakfast, but only lunch was available. No worries as there was something for everyone. Two of the four of us wanted sushi so we asked the waiter about it and were told he considers himself a 'self proclaimed sushi snob' and what the restaurant offered was VERY good. We took him at his word and weren't disappointed, particularly tasty were the Jalapeño rolls. Great location, ambiance, selection and wait staff was first-rate! We'll return.
I have to say that the service was the most notable thing. Eric was relatively new to 'the wayfarer' and was amazingly kind and knowledgeable. He is commendable. It doesn't stop there though; every one we interacted with was kind and quick with a smile or joke.
Thanks for a great evening!
This was not my first time at The Wayfarer. I was looking forward to the grilled octopus as a starter which, was very good. I had the seared scallops for my main and they were very tasty. I was disappointed in the surprisingly neglectful service. That said, I would give it another try and would recommend the restaurant. Overall I would prefer to give this 3 1/2 stars but the was not an option.
We had a truly enjoyable lunch here on Labor Day. The room is light and airy, with open windows and a lovely breeze. Everything we ordered (burgers, fried chicken sandwich, steak salad) was delicious. The fried chicken sandwich was amazing: two full breasts piled on a bun! Service was friendly and capable.
This is a decent local place for seafood, though the menu is uninspired. Decent food at rather steep prices. Service is sporadic and the darkness at night is not conducive to business. A block and a half away, The Redeye Grill is more upbeat, lighter, airier and has a wider menu selection.
We dined at the Wayfarer for dinner and had a very pleasant evening. The manager Lauren was very friendly and stopped by our table several times to ensure we had a great dining experience. She was great! We really enjoyed the chilled oysters for our appetizer. The Gruyere Whipped Potatoes were delicious. We would definitely recommend them as a side choice. The Short Rib & Mushroom Mac & Cheese was very delicious. It was not a traditional Mac & Cheese, but very tasty. To end the evening we had the Warm Chocolate Chip Cookies. Excellent! Overall, we had a great dining experience. The manager Lauren made us feel extremely welcome. She was very personable and we had a great conversation with her. We'd definitely recommend the Wayfarer.
My husband and I ate for our anniversary here and server forgot about us for 30 minutes. I had to ask other servers for something and he finally came back. They took my beverage that I was done with and never refilled until I asked them after they took my glass away. For what I paid for the price with dinner I was very upset with the level of service here.
