The Wayfarer's interior, designed by the award-winning Meyer Davis Studio Inc , evokes a feeling of “old meets new,” drawing inspiration from the 1970’s blended with the classic New York of the 1800’s. The multi-leveled restaurant offers the choice to observe passerby's on the main floor by our open cafe glass windows or enjoy a cocktail in our upstairs lounge.

The meal was excellent, cooked to perfection. Octopus was moist an not chewy
Diver scallops wonderful. Slow service, not much staff. An employee was doing work at the table next to us. He could have found somewhere else
Great location to have a reunion with college friends. We loved it!
We ate early on a Friday evening in a beautiful corner booth with an open view of the street. The food and ambience were excellent. Just what we were looking for. We will return.
Had to make separate reservations online because our party was actually 8. The hostess was eager and helpful to accommodate our table and seat us all together. Our server was quick, efficient, and attentive.
Great service, but very limited non-starchy side options. Steak was very overcooked.
Celebrating Father’s Day with family
Service was slow, waitress was hard to find
Manager came to help
Food was very good
Perfect day for brunch at The Wayfarer, very nice atmosphere! They had large windows open & breeze was blowing. Food was tasty, nothing spectacular but good. Service was well timed.
The food was very average at best. Sent back tortilla chips because they were stale. We got fresh ones later. The salads we ordered were drenched in dressing and the tomatoes (proffered as heirlooms) were soggy and mealy. We sent those back. We ended up ordering sushi which was nothing special for a restaurant that purports to be a seafood restaurant. The grilled octopus was chewy and tasteless. I was very disappointed.
Amazing food and service
Always have to visit this place when I’m in NYC. Great food, better drinks
Very good seafood, convenient location, pleasant atmosphere
Nice place. Good food. Attentive but not overbearing waitstaff and front of the house management.
Food was tasty. Our server was awful. He was not friendly at all and didn’t take our order for over 40 minutes after we had been seated. We had to go find a manager to get him to come and take our food order. When he came to the table he never apologized for the wait or acknowledged the wait. We then had to ask for water and drink refills 4 to 5 times before receiving them.
We all agreed the sushi was very good and the entrees were tasty. Restaurant decor was very nice and I would have come back if it wasn’t for the service. Unfortunately everyone else around us had the same issues and I should have taken the reviews more seriously about the slow service before making a reservation.
Visited the Wayfarer while in town for my 25th birthday. The interior is very modern and well-styled. Our booth was cozy and comfortable. All of our cocktails from the bar were yummy and well balanced. The server was pleasant and efficient, not necessarily warm but not intrusive which I actually prefer. All of us throughly enjoyed our food. The surf and turf sushi appetizer is phenomenal. I had the filet with a side of the glazed carrots and, honestly, the carrots might have been my favorite part of the meal. I know that sounds silly, but those were the best carrots I've ever had. We were treated to complementary warm cookies at the end of the meal and they were delicious. Overall great experience and meal.
Tried Wayfarer because it had decent reviews and it is close to where we will be living. The food was excellent. No complaints from our party of 6. The service was weird. Not bad or inattentive, they just made mistakes. One person asked for no tomatoes, they left the tomatoes. One person never got their sushi roll appetizer. Two of us ordered a dozen oysters each, mixed east and west coast. They came all the same. Later we were told they were out of the east coast. That said, they brought the sushi roll out later and didn't charge for it, they comped one of the dozen oysters, and they gave us dessert for free. So overall, they handled things well. I would absolutely go back.
Food was very good and a very comfortable setting. Our particular server was not very attentive at all.
I will preface this review that after complaining, the manager helped turn our experience around:
We had a 9 pm reservation and it turned out that one was not needed as it was pretty quiet in there. We ordered oysters and a couple of entrees. The server was very pleasant and it all started off well. Then a runner came by with a big tray of food. He then proceeded to take a couple of dishes at a time and run it around the rest of the restaurant so the rest of the food was sitting and cooling for at least 5-10 minutes. A burger and fries was left for at least 20 - 30 minutes.
After at least a 40 min wait, two entrees were put on our table but no oysters. The truffle fries ( not hand cut like we had ordered), were set out and were stone cold. We objected and then were told that that was not our food. The oysters eventually came out with two dirty plates.
At this point we asked to see the manager to point out why we were unhappy and skeptical about where our entrees actually were and to make sure they were prepared fresh and were not sitting on a tray somewhere.
I think our entrees eventually came out after about an hour but the manager sent extra food and comped an item with sincere apologies.
The food tasted good but the restaurant was poorly managed in terms of standards. Don’t even get me started on the state of the bathrooms...
The restaurant had been recommended and is part of the Hilton Club partners so we were honestly surprised by the terrible service. Hopefully it was just a one off, bad night.
Server wasn’t very attentive and only became so after manager came over to ask how everything was
The service was a bit slow but friendly. Also, it was pouring out but they had all the windows open. Freezing. Food very goos.
Lovely atmosphere, service was very slow. Which we heard other tables talking about, it was not very crowded and felt very well staffed. We had put on reservation it was a birthday, they confirmed on arrival but for dessert nothing was done (no candle or anyone saying happy birthday
Awesome. Accommodated our kids. It’s our local eatery and we love it.
I've had good food here before, but the omelet I had this time was very dry. No butter flavor. It seemed like it was made in one of those folding round pans with fake eggs and then folded together. What kind of a chef would make an omelet that way? A beginner?!
Seafood platter appetizer was delicious. Filet mignon was outstanding. Endive salad fresh and light. Diver scallops were very good but the sauce was too rich for me. Great ice cream sundae and cookies.
Our server Natalie was delightful
Can’t wait to return
We ate here on Sunday night. There were maybe 5 other tables. This was by far the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant. We also ordered the burrata with proscuito and it looked like someone ate the cantelope and stuck it on our plate. The food was OK but the prices were not. I definitely do not recommend
A+. We always go there with family. Wait staff knows us and is A+
Selected this restaurant due to location of my daughters graduation ceremony at Carnegie Hall.
From the moment we walked through the doors we were warmly greeted and shown to our table.
Our service team was incredible and our meals were fabulous. We will have this place at the top of our list when visiting again!
Not a tremendous amount of options on the menu, but the food was good. Staff was very nice. We went on a Sunday night so it was quiet which was welcomed.
My boyfriend and I came here for a nice birthday dinner. The food was decent, but the service was terrible. We waited over 30 minutes to order, and that was only after we asked a busboy to find our waiter. Our food arrived quickly, but our waiter never came by to check on us, ask if everything came out correctly, or see if we wanted to order additional drinks. Once the busboy cleared our plates, we sat at the empty table for another 10 mins before we flagged down our waiter again to ask for the check. The floor manager was out checking in at every table, but never came to ours, otherwise I would have made him aware of the situation. The other tables around us appeared to have similar experiences as I saw multiple groups complaining to the manager. I will give props to the busboy staff, they made sure our plates were cleared promptly and we never ran out of water. For as expensive as this restaurant was, I expected a much better experience.
The service was attentive and quick. Great for lunch meetings.
One of my favorite restaurants in New York. Outstanding food and cocktails, great ambiance, lots of space so you're not crammed in. Highly recommend.
Downtown vibe in Midtown. Excellent decor with plenty of space between tables. Service was a bit lagging, but friendly. Great place for both business or social lunch, dinner or drinks!
Ordered a shrimp cocktail and the truffle fries and they forgot the fries...wasn’t a complicated order. Overall it was a nice place
First time at this restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We are not sushi people but I understand that is very good. I had shrimp cocktail and California Rolls, both of which were excellent--I am picky about the way I like my shrimp cooked. My husband had the pork chops which he said was just about the best he has tasted (except the ones I cook!). Our companions had lobster roll and vegetable risotto, I think. Everybody was very pleased with their meal. The service was good as well as unobtrusive. The noise level was a little high considering we were visiting with friends we hadn't seen in a year. But it was workable. We would definitely go back!
The food and service - excellent. Love the popovers!
FYI . Rue 57 across the street won’t take Open Table reservations for 1 person - their loss Wayfarer’s gain.
Perfect food and service. I’ve had the best chicken and the sushi was also good
The avocado toast is always excellent. Even at 1130am the sushi was out of this world. Absolutely love this restaurant.
Love it!! I eat here every second day it is like my second home- everzbidz is friendly and nice and the food ist just great!! Trz the fries ans mayo with truffle.. Window was broken- a bit cold.
Friends in from out of town.
After my husband, myself and some friends had a less than stellar Easter brunch here, the GM Carolyn very graciously invited us back (the 6 of us) for a brunch do over. We chose last Sunday June 9th and I must say we had a truly wonderful experience. The food was just as delicious as the first time, but the service was exceptional. We were surprised with several appetizers even though we didn't order any and while we thought we had no room for dessert, they still brought us a plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, that were scrumptious!
All in all, we would like to thank Carolyn for her generosity and the staff for making our 2nd brunch experience a memorable one for all of the right reasons.
