The Wayfarer's interior, designed by the award-winning Meyer Davis Studio Inc , evokes a feeling of “old meets new,” drawing inspiration from the 1970’s blended with the classic New York of the 1800’s. The multi-leveled restaurant offers the choice to observe passerby's on the main floor by our open cafe glass windows or enjoy a cocktail in our upstairs lounge.

We were in town for a long weekend, and this was the absolute best restaurant we had dinner in.
It was an amazing Valentines Day experience. Carlos was an amazing waiter
Fantastic. The food and the service were outstanding.
Good food, service left something to be desired.
The charcuterie board was too expensive for a small amount of food
Great meal. Super service. Very well run
We enjoyed eating at The Wayfarer. The service was great and the food was delicious. A bunch of ladies were able to chat and enjoy our evening as we could hear each other throughout the meal. Would recommend and return.
Portions are huge and overly salted. While the food was good it wasn't great.
It was our 3rd time at The Wayfarer and I don’t understand what is going on with them this time. Empty local but it was Super Bowl night so I can understand that. They had the TV on and several guest asked them to turn on the volume but they didn’t know how to do it. Our waiter asked us to order more several times which was quite embarrassing as we ordered for two starters and two main courses with two sides. He kept coming back to pour the water and when he realized that the bottle was empty, he kept coming back and kept pouring the empty bottle. Rudely asked us about our dishes and didn’t answer when asked a specification on a dish. I’m definitely not coming back even though the place was close to our hotel. They used to have music on which was nice. Last night you could hear when a guest laid a fork on the table with all the silence they had.
It was our first time dining at this beautiful restaurant after attending the Swan Lake Ballet at the New York Center. Our daughter, my husband and I had a delicious meal and quiet dining experience! I recommend this place for any occasion.
The fish taco starter was very good with crunchy slaw and little bite. The salmon was moist and delicious. The chocolate cake was divine.
The atmosphere is very cozy. The service excellent and the food delicious.
We stopped in early for a pre-theatre meal. The restaurant was fairly empty and felt a little cavernous. Service was good. The popovers were amazing and the martini and oyster special was great. Oysters were fresh and delicious!
Food was good, cocktail was delicious but a little heavy on the ice. Presentation was beautiful and French fries were excellent. The warm chocolate chip cookies were spectacular. Attentive and prompt service.
The service was excellent- waitress was attentive and professional; Maitre d also attentive. We were surprised we weren’t able to choose from the menu if the other guests in the party wanted to order a la carte-it was all at the table chose restaurant week menu or none. The risotto was not to my tasting- they substituted a delicious chicken breast entree. The cocktail was delicious as were the chocolate cake and coffee. Fish tacos were good, could have been warmer.
Food was delicious.
Amazing spot for a lingering double date dinner. Everything we ordered was exceptional.
The dining room was quite, the food was good and fresh. The service was spot on, enjoyed red press juice.
Wasn't aware that this place even existed. They seated us at a quiet booth in the back of the restaurant. Service was attentive but not pushy. We enjoyed all the food that we ordered. All in all a delightful surprise experience.
Ordered ravioli and received maybe
four of them- I don’t find paying NYC prices- but please, give me a filling meal- received a large side dish of broccolini- which was of expensive with not much flavor
Still loved the ambiance and the dessert was great
Good experience and the manager was attentive and did his best to help us after he realized the Open Table menu and the menu at the restaurant were very different. I was hoping for more seafood but they had more carnivorous options, overall the food and drink were good.
Great food! The truffle fries and sushi were outstanding. My daughter said the skirt steak was the best she has ever had! Definitely a do again!!
We ordered oysters, hamburger, pork and chicken. The hamburger meat was freshly made. The pork and chicken were PERFECTLY cooked. Service was phenomenal.
Very nice Ambiente, super friendly, food delicious
The food was incredible, relaxed atmosphere.
Food was very good and the atmosphere was lovely. Smaller menu selection but delicious items offered. Located near times square and not far from central park making this restaurant a great choice for many!
Good and convenient place for brunch. Good menu selection, attentive staff
I went over the Christmas holiday for brunch with some out of town friends. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the eggs benedict, which was very good, but the sides were outstanding. I think these were the best home fries I've ever had. And the side salad was perfect as well. The servers were very attentive, coming to check on us and to fill our water frequently.
The is pretty nice and large and must have good acoustics because it wasn't loud at all even though it was pretty crowded.
I would definitely go back.
While we recognize that Christmas Day is a holiday and our hearts go out to those who have to work, this alone does not make up for the experience we had yesterday at the Wayfarer. We waited 45 minutes for our drinks, another hour for our entrees which were served without the sides, the pork loin was under cooked, and only one of the fish orders had a grilled lemon the other two did not. When we pointed this out a sliced fresh lemon was unceremoniously brought to the table as if we were wrong to mention it. During the long wait for our meals our request for more bread was ignored, and when we pressed them initially for why our drinks took so long first the “bar was backed up” and then “it was because they made too many drinks” which made no sense until our waitress later explained that the “made too many of the wrong drinks”. We were midway through the entrees when our sides arrived, and even then the order was wrong. The holiday menu was a limited prix fixe, but when we ordered the liver pate our waitress abruptly responded “Oh we don’t have that”. I have been to hundreds of restaurants and don’t believe I have ever posted a negative review, being of the “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all generation” but I feel compelled to share this truly bad experience because it took what should have been a memorable day in the city and turned it into the the worst restaurant service we have ever had story instead, certainly not the way you want to remember Christmas Day!
We weren't greeted for an extended period of time. I finally found a carafe of water and filled our water glasses myself. Food was really good. I found out the following day they added $32 to my tip. I already tipped 20% so it stung a little. I let it go because it was the week of Christmas and the server was nice. I would only go if I had time to enjoy good food with below average service.
What a beautiful restaurant hidden in the middle of the chaos of midtown. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and busy but quiet atmosphere! We could actually hear each other speak from across the table. By far one of our favorite restaurants in midtown! Highly recommend.
Service was very slow. Waiter came back to the table to say an item was OOS and said it was probably a good thing because the serving size was small - made my sister feel like maybe he thought she was big. Took forever to receive our food as well. And from host to waiter to bus staff, no one was all that friendly.
We wanted to be in midtown but not dead center of all the Christmas craziness. This was the perfect spot and the menu was diverse and delicious! If you go here be sure to stay for dessert!
The wayfarer used to be much better than it is now. Not sure why it is slipping. Service was hit/miss. Food was OK but not stellar like it used to be. I’ll try it again but hoping they tighten up their act before I return.
The food was not great for the price. The ambiance and personnel were lovely
Everything was ok but just ok. We were happy to be seated at a big round booth so we could have quiet meal. It was our 55 anniversary, which we noted but no one said anything. Last year they wished us a happy anniversary
Unimpressive overall experience. Would not return.
We ate brunch here on Saturday and it was a great experience! The chicken and waffles and eggs Benedict were delicious. We would recommend both! The food came out very quickly which was nice because we hadn’t eaten yet that day. The service is good, the restaurant is styled beautifully, and it is located very close to Central Park, where we went afterward for a carriage ride.
Quick and good. Thanks again.
