The Way Back
Good selection of food on the menu, everything tasted great, although entrees were really slowly arrive. Prices seem higher than other places in the area.
The food and service are both great. Flavors are just the right degree of intensity.
Overpriced and overrated. I would not recommend to anyone. I had a completely tasteless, chewy steak dinner, with 9 tiny pieces of meat on a plate! Do not go here for steak!
Great decor food was aesthetically pleasing but wasn’t satisfying. Dishes was over complicated and lacked flavor. Portions were small. Spent $75 per person and left hungry.
Every plate was delicious and they just kept getting better! Service was impeccable! Definitely will be going back and will be telling all my friends about it!!
Amazing! Rhubarb semi freddo was the best thing we’ve eaten in a while.
This was one of the finest meals we have enjoyed in Denver, all of the dishes were innovative and flawlessly executed. We will definitely be going back.
Love the space and all of our food was delicious! Great cocktails too!
Stellar, start to finish. Casual atmosphere with upscale food, and some of the best service I’ve experienced in Denver in recent years. The lamb neck is phenomenal, even if you think you don’t like lamb, plus the presentation is gorgeous. Other favorites from our party of five: the cucumber-Colorado trout gravlax salad and the cavatelli ragu. Just a great “neighborhood” restaurant for locals and anyone visiting Denver. I’ll be back.
We had a fabulous anniversary dinner. Can't wait to go back soon!
Great atmosphere and the food was phenomenal. Would definitely go back again.
Amazing food and cocktails
A great choice for dinner, creative and thoughtful menu. The ambiance is chic and cool without being pretentious. Really, the 6th star should be for the excellent service, everyone who works their is friendly and knowledgeable. Which is great and would earn 5 stars from me, but they don’t miss a beat, the service is seamless and you don’t find that many places, so 6 stars for service. We couldn’t have been happier with our experience.
Lovely place. Sinead was an attentive waitperson. We were there on a Tues when it was 50% off wine, which was useful because there wasn't a bottle on the menu under $55. (Everything is quite pricey.) We ended up with a $70 bottle, marked down to $35, which is about exactly what I would have been happy to pay if full price in any other restaurant. Most of the stuff on the menu I would never order (BBQ lamb neck, anyone?) but I'm always happy with a good sirloin steak when I'm out, and it was delicious--tho' paired with mustardy potato salad, not my first choice. Some definite inflexibility and, dare I say, snootiness in the menu options. An actual foodie would likely adore this place, but I found it a bit pretentious (again, our waitperson was lovely.) They also have a very odd menu item called "Buy the Kitchen a Drink" which is a $9 "donation" that tips the kitchen crew. Am I mistaken in thinking a 20% tip isn't partially shared with the kitchen staff? And that inflated food/wine prices can't cover paying a decent wage to the kitchen? All in all, a half-priced bottle of wine and two plates of about 4 oz of sirloin steak with a modest serving of cold potato salad and a shared small plate of grilled asparagus (no salad or bread included, no dessert--only two options, both citrus gelato, one of which was over cornbread??) plus a 20% tip was $135 for 2 people. Doubtful I'll be back.
Great food, ever changing menu and wonderful service. I will be back.
Exceptional small neighborhood restaurant with amazing cocktail program.
Pretty disappointing. The restaurant was so loud my ears were ringing like after a concert. Took over 30 minutes from sitting down to get cocktails. And another 40 to get our 3 dishes (2 appetizers and a pasta dish) which each dish was heavily over salted. Probably won’t go back for a while.
The food and cocktails were outstanding!
Everything was perfect!! Great food & great service!!!!!!
Excellent service and food! Marcus, our wait staff, took great care of us and made several drink and food suggestions that we loved. A definite do-again!!!
Was a little concerned when I arrived as to the style of the place. However, it was a major surprise! The food was spectacular and the service excellent with great personality. Will be doing this location again soon.
Excellent cocktails, food and vibe. Abigail was also a gem- overall an great evening! Will definitely return and recommend The Way Back.
The menu is very creative, and it extends to vegetarian dishes, too.
Beautiful cocktails, seasonal and delicious dishes, all in an amazing space. They made my birthday dinner a truly magical experience. Thank you so much!
Food and service was fantastic
Amazing food, wonderful service. Glad they had vegetarian options. We will be back!
Everyone made our visit so fun!
While happy hour was good, dinner itself was overpriced and the food barely mediocre. 3 out of 4 of us had stomachaches later that night. They’re almost trying too hard to be hip. The service was good...and the place is a nice concept...but it’s not on our repeat list.
LOVED The Wayback! This will be our new neighborhood spot! Drinks and food were all delicious with an awesome atmosphere. My only suggestion would be for the servers to be more knowledgeable / up sell. I mentioned it was our first time coming and inquired about how the menu works/portions etc. and I felt we received a very broad basic response. This restaurant has a lot to offer and very swanky. Servers should certainly push that. We will definitely be back!!
We had a pescatarian in our party, and it was very easy to find delicious and satisfying dishes on the diverse menu for our group!
Anniversary dinner was fantastic!
A wonderful culinary experience. The service was exceptional (attentive yet chill). The restaurant was sleek and cozy at the same time. And, our dinner plates (we ordered three: Kung Pao chicken, the steelhead with coconut rice and a grilled cabbage with farro) were exquisite. Truly one of the most remarkable dinners I have ever hand: a feast for our senses.
What a cool place. Sinead was great! Only her second week serving but she knew the menu incredibly well and was so friendly and offered perfect amount of attentiveness to us.
Food was unique and fun with perfect combination of tastes. Loved the ambiance. The booths at front are not all that comfortable But there are tables in the back that look cozy! Would definitely go back.
It seemed they worked too hard at being different. Most of the food tasted good. But some was just too weird.
The food was a bit spicy/over the top for my tastes but I did enjoy the Kung Pao chicken. However $15 for a small plate/appetizer seems steep.
They need more servers!!
Gorgeous and delicious food. The okonmiyaki is a must get along with the Char but honestly everything was really good. Service was great and they have affordable happy hour items. Cocktails were spot on. Clean bathrooms and attentive servers.
Great food. Delicious and out of the ordinary. Great service and lovely decor and ambience.
Delicious vegetarian focused dishes. The kimichi dish was amazing
