The Waverly Local
Great food and service in a charming, but remote, location near the Alabama and Georgia state line. Definitely worth the trip. Beware, they are in the Central time zone!
We came for brunch on father's day. As always the food was wonderful. My husband and I had the buffet. Our daughter ordered an omelet. Somehow her omelet was misplaced. She received it well after we were finished with our lunch. She received her orange juice as we paid our bill.
We love your restaurant but I was a little surprised that there was no reflection in the bill for the lost food.
Went on a Saturday evening before a concert at Standard Deluxe. Food was so good we drove back 40 minutes the next morning for brunch.
Introduced our friends from Virginia to this special restaurant. Sat outside ‘cause we had our dogs with us - delightful as always!
Excellent service along with delicious, well prepared food.
Wife’s Birthday and everything was PERFECT!
We had a great time celebrating a family member’s birthday. The food was outstanding as well as the service. The Waverly Local is one of our favorite places to dine!
Unique dining experience. Outstanding food and wine list. Perfect for special occasions
Great food, great service, neat music for Sunday brunch.
The only glitch was being asked to leave! I guess we had the only table for two. Strangely enough, our friends took our table. But it DID hurry my guest through her second drink. We arrived at 5:30 and left at 7:15. I don’t know what is considered a “normal” stay. Still, a nice evening!
Great atmosphere, food and service as always. Ben Sutton's music enhanced the atmosphere.
The live music should be in the bar, not the dining area. It was so loud we could not talk at the table.
Excellent service is a hallmark of Waverly Local. Combined with a perfectly prepared steak makes it hard to beat. WL servers are real professionals in making sure their patrons are taken care of.
Everything from start to finish was great. Knowledgeable staff, great food (although limited), sizable wine selection, and overall the price was in line with quality. Only two negative-ish things: it became quite loud with the dinner rush and the dinner entree selection was low (a beef, a pork, a seafood, and three others that I don’t recall). Definitely wouldn’t hinder a second visit in the future.
My husband and I celebrated my birthday with a fantastic dinner at the Waverley Local. Our server Lainey (sp?) was just wonderful.
Thank you again for another great experience.
The menu always has multiple good choices and everything has always been excellent in taste and presentation.
Great spot. Unique ambience & excellent food. Only quibble is conversation became difficult once live music started because our table was right next to the singer & his speakers. We ate quite early (5:30 reservation) so maybe having music volume lower for early evening would help. Or asking you before you’re seated whether you want to be near the music or not.
Brunch was really good! Steak and eggs are delicious and the grits are the best I have ever had.
Great meal and service
Great! Really enjoyed the place and the unique location!
Two of us had the fried chicken, one had the ribeye, and one a vegetable plate. The fried chicken, which I would not normally order in that nice a place, was excellent. It was two thighs and a side of very hood French fries. My friends ordered the ribeye and was very impressed. My wife had the vegetable plate of asparagus, macaroni and cheese, and squash casserole. She loved it. Finally, we had a picked of coconut cake and a piece of cheesecake. All was excellent and the ambiance of the beautiful bar and the restaurant were delightful. We highly recommend The Waverley Local!
Daily specials are delightful and often nostalgic, such as fried chicken, Mac n cheese and watermelon. Cocktails are delicious and the desserts could be considered sinful. The ambiance is casual and friendly. It’s not unusual to visit with the chef. So glad to see the restaurant tradition continue in this space
Second time eating there. Food was again excellent.
I was looking forward to eating at the Waverly Local, but I was terribly disappointed. The hostess was incredibly rude and condescending. We had reservations, but arrived a bit early so I explained we were there and if a table became available we were there. She, with a smirk, said “mam your table will be ready at your reservation time”, and kinda laughed at me. I was stunned, I wasn’t trying to get in early or anything. Anyway, the food was a buffet and we literally were in and out in 35min, like Waffle House-STUNNED and most Disappointed!
The atmosphere is fantastic. The decor is beautiful and they had a pianist playing quietly. We had breakfast there on Mother’s Day. It was our first time eating here. It’s my understanding that on special holidays they offer a brunch bar in lieu of the usual menu. We did not know this prior to arrival. The bar had the traditional breakfast items plus shrimp and grits and was $25 per person which I felt was a little high for scrambled eggs, tater tots, sausage, and bacon. Biscuits are by request and as I mentioned, shrimp and grits were the only unusual item and not everyone in my party ate them. My husband, myself and 3 teens totaled $125 for brunch before tax and tip. This is definitely a special occasion type restaurant for my family. The unexpectedly high price is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will highly recommend this establishment to our family and friends.
Excellent place. Service was spectacular. Food was amazing. Order the pimento and cheese appetizer and thank me later!
The food was excellent. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive to us and always had a smile.
Excellent food and excellent service in a really neat place. Highly recommend Waverly Local.
Celebrating graduation of a family member. Loved this place! We will definitely be back again!
Special Graduation Day Sunday brunch with $2 Mimosas and live piano music - awesome!
Great food and atmosphere but really loud. We took my mom after graduation and it was hard to have a conversation because of the noise. Otherwise a cool spot, and the bar looked really fun. Definitely would go back and my son goes often.
Fantastic food, drink, and atmosphere. Limited menu but the food was outstanding. The cocktails were original and perfectly made. Service was great, even during busy graduation weekend. Would love to visit again.
Simply outstanding. Wonderful food, great service. Staff was knowledgeable about the menu. Great story about the building, be sure to ask.
This is the coolest place I ever went with my kids in the 8 years they’ve been at Auburn. Great bar too! War Eagle!!
We had a lovely table outside for our party of five in town to celebrate my son’s graduation from Auburn Univ. Tiffany took great care of us and all of our meals were delicious. I’m sorry we didn’t discover this gem until now.
Our first visit and we were impressed by the quality of the food. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. It’s a very casual atmosphere and the ambiance is nothing special, but the food was good enough to have us coming back. All in all, a good find in an unexpected location.
