Water Wheel Tavern is an historic Bucks County landmark originally built in 1714 by John Dyer, an English Quaker. It existed for centuries as a water wheel driven grist mill, and later hosted both a post office and a general store. The mill was transformed into an inn and tavern with the repeal of prohibition in 1933.

Now, after an extensive industrial chic renovation, we invite you to experience our comfortable ambiance, diverse menu and hard working professional staff!

*High tops & Patio tables are non reservable, but we will make every attempt to accommodate your request.*

The mussels were not done well and the sauce was strange. The mashed potatoes were cold.

Had appetizers at a bar table. Food was excellent - wings, flatbread and mussels. Drinks were good and priced fairly. Service was a little scattered at times. Hostesses need a bit more experience. Went because we wanted to hear live music. Unfortunately, the musician they had was a bit hokey. Song choices were poor, singing not very good either

Amazing food and beautiful restaurant. Our server helped us decide drinks and dinner choices, she was really friendly and helpful! We would have loved to sit closer than the band area but it was full. Really nice place all around!

Excellent food and service. I ordered the corned beef reuben for lunch and it was pristinely lean. Our server was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. Looking forward to returning soon!

Valentine’s dinner - waitress could best be described as “surly”, cocktail tasted like a cup of lime juice, steak tough and food bland. Will say our appetizers (beat salad and onion soup) were good and bussing staff was good. Not the experience I was hoping for.

While we heard many rave reviews from our customers on Valentine's Day, and not one complaint on the day of, we may not have achieved the level of food and service we desired to achieve for your table. Feel free to contact our GM, Jim Daven, to discuss. We would be honored to have you back to prove what a fantastic setting, food, and service we can provide. best, Water Wheel Management

We are long-term diners at the Water Wheel. While we love the renovations and new look of the restaurant, brunch left us a bit disappointed. First the positives- the young man Staffing the omelet and carving stations is skilled and helpful. The servers are attentive, and the mimosas are quite good.

Buffet selections need improvement. Breakfast potatoes are coarse and dry. Green salad needs some additional ingredients to make it palatable- croutons, tomatoes, etc. Pasta and potato salad are clearly mass-produced from an outside supplier, and really unappetizing. Desserts during our first visit were quite good, but during our visit this week were sparse.

We hope to return when quality improves!

We chose this location to have a double date after we had a great experience a few months ago. This time around, I ordered the flat iron steak - which I didn't feel was as great at the filet mignon but was still good. My husband ordered the tomato basil soup with the grilled cheese croutons and loved it! My friend ordered the partridge pear sandwich, and her date ordered a burger, and everyone was very happy with their food. We even ordered dessert because we were having such a great time. We weren't rushed, everything came out in a timely manner and all the food was incredible. We will be back!

The meal was rushed. Barely into our salad when the entrees were brought out. Would have liked a second glass of wine with dinner but didn’t have time. Didn’t get dessert and were out the door in 50 mins. Not a relaxing experience.

Other then it is in a large but cozy space Water Wheel is nothing special. They serve a lot of fried, unhealthy, high carb, high salt content food.

Hi Mindy, We value input from all of our customers and design our menu based on your feedback. Many enjoy our great selection of salads, as well as our hummus, cheeseboard, and vegan and vegetarian options such as the Impossible Burger and Impossible Bolognese. Yet, we also have many customers who also enjoy items like our Pig and Fig Burger, as well as our Flatbreads and Mac Fritters. Thanks again for your input. best, Water Wheel Management Team

Nice beer list on tap, good wines and a great bartender! Cheesesteak was good, garlic parm fry upcharge...they could have been a little tastier. Seemed like just grated parm put on regular fries. Will be back! Nice, cozy spot with a great menu.

The menu seems to be hit or miss. It was great when it opened and then went downhill. Over the summer and into the fall the menu was very good but now it’s back to limited options. No pasta unless you want impossible meatballs and they removed the good salads.

Nice brunch buffet spread and very helpful waitstaff and omelet station chef. My only critique is that the restaurant is very dark, especially on a dreary weather day. Ask for a table near one of the windows for best light.
