The Water Wheel Tavern
Water Wheel Tavern is an historic Bucks County landmark originally built in 1714 by John Dyer, an English Quaker. It existed for centuries as a water wheel driven grist mill, and later hosted both a post office and a general store. The mill was transformed into an inn and tavern with the repeal of prohibition in 1933.

The food was great. Waiter was excellent. We sat by the window and it was freezing. But we do understand it’s an old building. The entertainment was great. Will be back
Delicious meal, great service
Great place and great service. Wonderful wait staff. Great selection of food and drink
Our server Trevor was outstanding, my SO stated that it was the first time in a long time since dining out that the entire staff was very pleasant and helpful. One of our favorite go to l places in D’town.
This was our first time to Water Wheel Tavern and it was a wonderful experience! Service was outstanding - we will be back!
Yummy food! Went early so wasn’t super busy - tables well spaced out. Friendly staff and quick service. Saw live music in bar area on our way out. Great find and will definitely be back.
Birthday celebration. From initial greeting to paying the bill, everything was amazing. The staff is awesome, very attentive but not overbearing. Food choices are great, new menu on a few weeks. Definitely going to make this a regular.
Great place, good food and excellent service. We have been dinning there for many years.
Great service. Waitress very attentive and friendly!
OVERALL HAD A GREAT DINNER AND EXPERIENCE...only negative thing was the table behind us had a couple of very loud patrons ...may have been celebraing New Years early with too many drinks way before midnight...lol
Our server, Harry made the dining experience outstanding. We requested his station, as we have been to the Water Wheel previously and he was our server at that time.
It was New Years Eve but the food came out promptly and was very good.
Our first time at the restaurant and we loved it! The food, service, and overall experience was fantastic! We will definitely return.
Great food. Bar seating area is very nice. Love the atmosphere.
Great food and service. Will be back.
I must say I never go out on Christmas Eve, but this was a real present! Our server, David, was a delight. Very personable, yet professional! We had an outstanding meal. The steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly. The sides were special and plated beautifully. Great atmosphere! We will be back again soon!
Meal was fantastic, filet and scallops, Brie appy was done perfect. Our server David was awesome, friendly, attentive with great suggestions. One of the best servers I’ve had in years. One of our regular dining spots.
David was the best waiter hands down that we have had in a very long time! He is definitely an asset to The Waterwheel! The food was great and our family had a great time!
Food was overpriced. We ordered the Salmon, which was $32. We were expecting a decent portion for that price but the piece was ridiculous. I Never will go there again !! Very overpriced!!
Went there after peddlers village we had a nice time food was great service was good
Food quality below average. Atmosphere is cute and staff were pleasant and helpful.
The food is always delicious and Our waiter, Daniel, was absolutely amazing!
Nice place. Alcoholic drinks are overpriced
Food and service were great! Thank you!
Fun spot, great food, drink and service. Very hard to hear at the high top table with full house and music
Beautiful place; I have lived 15 miles away for 35 years but this was my first visit. Very nice restored old mill house with lots of character. It was crowded and noosy, but service was prompt, efficient and pleasant- kudos to the hard working crew who I know are short staffed, but never let it show. Very good beer and wine selection, and the food was very good too. From burgers to salmon, crab cakes and scallops, everything my family had was delicious and presented well. It is not cheap but not at all out of li e with other restaurants in the area. Glad I finally tried it, and we will definitely be back.
Great food. Awesome atmosphere. Our waiter was a little busy. Don't hold it against him
We had a very good meal and Olga was awesome!
Our server David was exceptional. The food was prepared just as requested. My wife enjoyed her birthday.
A beautiful evening outside at the Water Wheel. Perfect setting.
They have a huge outside bar and patio area, if your concerned about being packed in you shouldn’t be. Service was great, food was good. One of the better places in doylestown.
Our waiter was new, so service was a bit slow and our order was confused. But he was quite attentive to the mistake and the restaurant made amends, which we didn’t ask for but we’re appreciated. Food was good, plentiful and well priced. Atmosphere was very nice, although low lighting made it hard to read the menu. Will definitely try again. Very pleasant evening overall.
First time here- food and service was great, will definitely be back.
Great as always
Very nice place, always enjoy the food, salads are a bit pricey. Outdoor dining and live entertainment Thursday thru Saturday is always great!
This is the coziest big restaurant around! Since they have a variety of rooms (even outdoor dining) you feel like you are in a friends lovely log-cabin home. Yet the range of menu options takes you beyond just comfort food. While they do have amazing burgers and fun food like that they also have great salmon and filet options. This past time I had the scallop meal with bacon corn quinoa and maple bourbon glaze. A-maz-ing! Totally getting that again. (And the roasted Brussel sprout appetizer is a must-have.)
I took my dad here for his birthday and we had an amazing time. The outdoor dining set up is adorable! Our server Olga was extremely polite and personable! The food runner (did not catch his name) was also amazing. I will definitely be back here again!
Server Jack was definitely passionate about the food served and offered great recommendations. Job well done!
Great food, great service, lived our dinner! We will be back soon!
This is a favorite destination, we live nearby, and they handled the pandemic dining experience beautifully. I have found the new menu limited, which I understand because of the supply chain, but the presentation and quality have suffered. Is there a new chef? The caprese salad, for $14, is miniscule and the red peppers are not a good addition - bring back the basil! I had a ceasar salad with grilled shrimp and the shrimp were raw and slimy. I did send that back. Nice to see bar seating has returned! Always a good experience at the bar and the staff is attentive and professional throughout the restaurant.
